1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRE] GreenCoin - A Blockchain-Based Social Carbon Ecosystem on: February 24, 2018, 01:50:30 PM
The coin has no future. These idiots in the forum taIking about resurrecting it, clearly have no clue how  blockchain works. To make any changes to the coin would require everyone upgrade their wallet on to a new blockchain (a fork). Why would anyone do that? The current coin is POS, is listed on an exchange and has billions in circulation. The best someone could do is use Chris's model and make an entirely new coin. That being said it is a POS shitcoin on an exchange with active trading. So it will always be good for short term investing or day trading. I encourage people to invest in and trade the coin but don't listen to these idiots talking about revamping it.

This seems like an ill conceived cash grab. With the foundation wallet being public now, there would be no way to keep and distribute the generated coins. So you would have to reprogram the wallet software and block chain to generate coins into a new foundation wallet. This means everyone would have to upgrade their wallets to your version, which is unlikely. I know I won't do it.  So you're going to have to hard fork. Well if you hard fork you're creating a new coin, so why would you bother with GRE and not just make a new coin?

If you're serious use Chris's model and just make a new coin. Perhaps CO2 coin, like Chris had tried when GREv1 was floundering.

Whats the deal with coin exchange? Two weeks ago Amed said it would be listing GRE after it syncs but still nothing.

Sounds good, It does appear to be more stable now, good work. I do have a question though My staking is only about 0.02% of my coins at any given time. Is that normal?

Is GRE on any exchanges at all?

My wallet was fixed for about 2 weeks now it's f'ed up again same as before. Stuck at a block below what's listed at https://chainz.cryptoid.info/gre/#!network yet i'm still staking so i'm forked. I'm not going to waste the time and bandwidth rebuilding the wallet.dat again to get another 2 weeks.

The staking is still not 100% consistent it does seem to stall occasionally but the number of peers stays high (6-10), since I did that, and most importantly my block count is finally correct.

Cranky4U,  that is exactly what was happening to me. The solution was to dump the private keys and build a new wallet.dat. It's detailed in the last 4 posts above yours.

Thanks for your help guys. Chris's suggestion seems to have worked. Finally staking again and at the correct block count.

I was thinking I could do something like the keydump thing we did when we moved from GRE1 to GRE2.  Then change the address for my payouts on the website. I just did a rebuild of the block index and a -rescan i'm now done syncing and at 192232, the website shows 195041. The website also is listing me in the node list, which if i understand correctly, since i'm not at 195041, makes me a fork.

Chris, I'm still having wallet issues. If i let it do a fresh sync with a new wallet.dat it matches the block count on https://chainz.cryptoid.info/gre/#!network. At which point I can close the wallet restore my old wallet.dat and then -rescan. This works untill the next time I shut down then my wallet never matches the block count. I wondering if my wallet doesn't have something to do with the forking problem we have been having. I have acquired quite a lot GRE and you seem to always say it's working when my wallet is shut down. When I'm running it you seem to report a problem. It could just be coincidence but I figure if I can fix my problem it may fix our problems. Let me know what I can do. If need be I can create a new wallet and "import" the old balance, if it's possible and you can walk me though it. Let me know.

Greencoin website is down and email to Chris comes back undeliverable!

What the fork is going on? Have we made any progress? Seems like every time I check there is another fork happening my block count never seems to match the websites.

Cranky4U, staking stops and I have to restart the wallet at least twice a day and the staking will begin again. I am 100% sure i'm on the correct block chain the problem only started about 3 weeks ago. It's obviously a problem in the code.

Price drop is irrelevant if there is no place we can sell them. Something you have that can't be sold is worthless. We need to get on some exchanges!

As far as I know the size of the wallet should not effect forking. Forking is a network issue. I am one of those very large wallets as I have been a part of this since the beginning and I agree with digit if we could just trade these GRE I would sell off quite a bit. That would reduce my stake and make it easier for smaller wallets to make a profit. On another note, when yobits first forked, my wallet was forked with it and I didn't notice for almost a month so I was out of the staking for awhile but I am back in now. Some smaller users may just bee feeling the impact of whales reentering the pool.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRE] GreenCoin - A Tradeable Carbon Credit Ecosystem on: June 24, 2016, 01:12:36 PM
I resolved it. The solution was to delete everything except .conf and .exe let the blockchain download with a new wallet.dat then delete that new wallet.dat and restore my old one. Then I had to force the prog to rescan with the -rescan switch. That seems to have resolved the issue.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][GRE] GreenCoin - A Tradeable Carbon Credit Ecosystem on: June 23, 2016, 07:08:29 PM
I replaced my .conf file with the nodes listed above. I deleted everything except my .conf and wallet.dat and restarted. I let it resync it cought up, when i debug and do "getblokccount" it is reporting block 95706 but the website (https://chainz.cryptoid.info/gre/#!network) says block 119854. If I click the "node list" button on the website my ip is listed in the nodes. How is is possible that i'm forked (at 95706) but yet i'm listed as a node on the website?
