I made a video about this situation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcRY4aEBHe0At the very least it shows the power of the Bitcoin name/brand. Are dead altcoins going to start forking and re-branding themselves with the Bitcoin name? Bspread says they are about to do this. If this actually happens and it is successful we could see a lot of copycats. This is a pure marketing move that leverages the strong Bitcoin brand. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. It is yet another reminder of the strength and value of the Bitcoin brand. There is only one Bitcoin and many entities want a piece of that pie so they can have a base of value for their product.

Are any exchanges planning on trading Bytether? Can you list them? Thanks.

Ouch ... importing BTC private keys into Bitcore wallet, many will not like this.
I agree with that statement. Can you guys give us the option to claim BTX the "old way"? I would much rather go through the "claiming service" than expose my private key. Thanks

Bitcoin gold is not a scam. It's just a bunch of people that try to profit from the fork, the exact the same way that Bitcoin cash founder were trying to profit. It doesn't mean it's a scam, it only means that someone things a lot of money can be made from this, if people believe that ASCI will not be necessary anymore and prefer CPU over it, that's fine, let them invest in it. Bitcoin Cash has done quite well considering it did not have so much to over (just a higher block size, which comes with man issues), so the mining thing with Bitcoin Gold is quite justified as a good solution to an ever increasing problem. The founders are out there and communicate, and these are real people not internet trolls or avatars hiding behind a mask. It's definitely not a scam, but that doesn't mean it's a good investment.
WELL SAID! Amen! Don't complain about free money!

"The fork snapshot date is October 1, and the target launch date when people can claim their BTG is November 1."

This is the Bitcoin Gold (Bgold) friendly fork project. I recently found out about it and I posted a video about it below. A source has been sending me some great information about it. This fork will come out before 2x and effectively neuter it. I think this project is a very interesting development that we should keep our eyes on. This thread has been out there for over a month, yet it has taken a month for people to wake up to Bgold. I expect a lot more coverage soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAukxlpwyHgHere is a link to a Twitter account that appears to be in charge of the project: https://twitter.com/lightningasicInfo sent to me: "- BTG will be distributed exactly the same way as Bcash. - BTG will have replay protection. Friendliness to Bitcoin is paramount. - The exact fork date still undetermined, but it will be before Segwit2X. - BTG will be listed on Bitexchange.com.hk, Bitstar.com, and many more soon to come."

I came up with the crypto-dividend concept last week. I think it pertains to what you are trying to describe. Altcoins formed from Bitcoin forks are just dividends paid to Holders of Bitcoin. A unique way to distribute and create altcoins. This is the video that started it all: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rg86clOEd3A

So I am visiting Harare Zimbabwe. I am in town for the Bitcoin conference. On the way to the venue you walk by some banks. All of them have long lines of broken looking people in front of them. They are waiting to get $30 cash (the limit) out of the bank. People wait all day and some never get anything so they just stay there until the next day since they have no cash to get home. With that backdrop in mind one can see why there is an interest in Bitcoin in Zimbabwe. Despite the financial insanity people keep up a good attitude and they want to better themselves. Below is an example of a young woman with a great outlook on life who is excited about Bitcoin: https://steemit.com/steemit/@bitcoinmeister/meet-charlene-bitcoin-woman-of-zimbabwe-interview-at-blockchain-summer-school-harare
