3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I am a HODLer, but want to try day trading starting with $100. on: February 27, 2018, 04:23:00 PM
I want to see how far I can take $100 day trading. I welcome any tips and advice please. How do I find coins/tokens that are about to pump?

Thanks!

With such a small amount to invest, it's better to stick with coins with a top 50 (or even better) marketcap.

My tips:

  • use an exchange with low or zero fees, i.e. cobinhood, binance
  • trade your coins vs. Tether, not BTC or ETH
  • buy the dip (don't panic if you're too late, there will be more opportunities)
  • never join pump & dump schemes

Example!

Buy Bitcoin at a relatively low rate (24h rate). Immediately open a sell order vs. Tether (USDT) at that price +3%.
When the order is finished, open a buy order at any lower price than last. Repeat!
4  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-02-27] Cointelegraph ; Exchange - Poloniex was purchased for $400 million on: February 27, 2018, 01:19:45 PM

https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-ethereum-bitcoin-cash-ripple-stellar-litecoin-cardano-neo-eos-price-analysis-feb-26

The large Financial firm, Goldman Sachs has purchased the US-based cryptocurrency exchange Poloniex for $400 million. Firms do look for opportunities to grow their business. A good sign though.

Unfortunately you're link is wrong! You linked a technical price analysis.

Though i already read that message. It clearly shows how more and more investors get attracted by the market.

Please explain why you are assuming this would help them more (did i miss something?).

They would just use alt accounts to leave lots of positive feedback to make themselves look trustworthy.

That's true, but

a) they can do it today as well
b) as long as they don't have an alt that's DT1/2 it's still untrusted.

Just to be clear: my main point is the visibility of untrusted feedback. I don't want to change anything on default trust or the difference of untrusted / trusted.

Edit: I think i will collect some of the scam accusations where this problem was a big factor and post them for reference.
6  Other / Meta / Re: [Newbie Protection] Show untrusted feedback by default on: February 20, 2018, 02:56:33 PM
OR (even better) cancel this Feature and ALWAYS show the untrusted feedback by default!
Then what will be the point of having DT1/2 members?

DT1/2 Member should still remain there, and of course their rating should still be highlighted or moved to the top of the trustpage.
Additionally, the "red flag" should still only apply if a DT1/2 Member posted a feedback.
Quote
This should really help keeping scammers out, since a lot of them only have untrusted feedback.
That helps them more, instead of destroying their chances of scamming someone. Nothing will stop them from creating a false image, that makes them to appear trustworthy to "Newbies" (regarding your suggestion).

Bad suggestion.

Please explain why you are assuming this would help them more (did i miss something?).

I read a lot of scam accusations where the victim claimed to "not have seen the bad feedback by others". Any feedback is better than no feedback.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone using Robinhood? on: February 20, 2018, 01:06:46 PM
Guys, you should do your homework before posting...  Roll Eyes

https://www.robinhood.com/

Wikipedia:

Robinhood Markets Inc., or simply Robinhood, is a U.S. based financial services company headquartered in Palo Alto, California. The company offers the Robinhood smartphone mobile app, which allows individuals to invest in publicly traded companies and exchange-traded funds listed on U.S. stock exchanges without paying a commission. The company makes money from interest earned on customers' cash balances and margin lending.

After an April 2017 fundraising, Robinhood had a $1.3 billion valuation.

As of early 2018, Robinhood had 3 million user accounts and this is approximately the same number as the online broker E-Trade.

I am convinced they will succeed. They have a great basement of customers and already are well established when it comes to traditional stock markets. I personally didn't try it yet but am looking forward to observe their development. I am pretty sure it is safe to use from the start.

If you will be able to use Chrome, you can just hit Command-M to minimize your current window.

In general (Windows!) you can use ALT + SPACE + N to minimize any active window.
9  Other / Meta / [Newbie Protection] Show untrusted feedback by default on: February 20, 2018, 10:39:39 AM
Hey community,

i was wondering if anyone already was complaining about a (to my mind absolutely useless) feature here.

When registering a new account, you will not be able to see "untrusted feedback".

So basically, new users are only able to see feddbacks from DT members! Since most of the given feedback comes from "normal" members here, this is a point that helps scammers a lot! People tend to stick to obvious signs - like red paint! I think no Newbie should be blamed for not knowing this; older members should help them overcoming this risk!

Here is how to change this setting:

Code:
Go to Profile -> Forum Profile Information -> Scroll down -> Mark "Show untrusted feedback by default" -> Change Profile!

Please consider adding this information to the stickies for newbies OR (even better) cancel this Feature and ALWAYS show the untrusted feedback by default! This should really help keeping scammers out, since a lot of them only have untrusted feedback.

A poll has been added in hope of great participation from you all!

As far as I can see from your coin choices, you started to learn how markets work and overall psychology. I would love to suggest you to add bit secure one, called monero, as I believe it will never die even after crashes.

May i know why you are assuming it will never die? I am just curious because i was wondering to put some money into Monero.  Roll Eyes
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Still I'm a newbie on: January 31, 2018, 05:56:08 PM
You can earn up to 14 activity points every 14 days. Those points could be earned in one day, i.e. registration at 01.01.2018 --> making 14 post gaining 14 activity --> rest until 01.15.2018 --> making 14 post gaining 14 activity --> repeat. I think that hits the point.

Though i do not advise to act so since the quality of your posts would probably be bad. One post a day is perfect.
12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Question/Poll - Will you invest 0.01 BTC to win 100 BTC? on: January 31, 2018, 02:34:26 PM
Guys I'm working something, which I will definitely share with the community soon.

I've a very simple question to all traders and Bitcoin enthusiasts.

Would you be interested in taking part in a lottery where you can win 100 Bitcoins by investing 0.01 BTC?

Basic rules are as follows: Participation cost  0.01 BTC, 15,000 participants.. 1 winner gets 100 Bitcoins, 20 Runner up winners get 2 Bitcoins each.

I'm working on a similar concept - wanted some thoughts from you folks before I take it any further..

So will you invest 0.01 BTC to win 100 BTC? Yes or No and why...

It's a nice idea to have when you (yeah you, OP) want to make a quick buck. For everyone else, it makes no sense. Let me give you an example:

If i will buy everyone of the 15000 Tickets, i paid 150 BTC. I will only get 140 BTC back from the lottery, so i lost 10 BTC (your profit). People could just gamble to have an even better chance of winning something.

My advise: Increase the amount of tickets, decrease the price drastically - maybe 10000 Sats each. Also, it's not neccessary to have such a big jackpot. What about 1 BTC for the first place and lower prizes for 99 additional participants?
People have a "higher chance to win" (at least it looks like this to them) and the price for participating is low. Everyone can afford to lose 10000 Sats.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will 2017 gains ever happen again? on: January 31, 2018, 11:25:59 AM
There is no reason why 2018 shouldn't be as successful as 2017. I think 2018 will be even better.
The correction that is happening this whole month was happening every year before as well. Just check the charts.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: NEO speculation on: January 31, 2018, 09:56:58 AM
Misunderstanding.

NEO is not "China Ethereum". It's Etherum the "Russian NEO"

You see?

NEO is not only for Chinese startups.  It's the platform for developing DApps.

And it's totally 0 fees for both NEO and GAS.
Finally someone understand that!

To my mind, NEO will have a bright future. Especially in 2018, since developer-focused projects are so needed so badly.
I predict: 200$ in April; 350$ in September; 300$ by the end of the year.
15  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buying from ICO or trading altcoin. on: January 31, 2018, 09:38:17 AM
Which is more risky buying a token from the ICO or in trading?
I think buying ICO Tokens is slightly more risky than (day-)trading. The "new" coin hasn't proved its price yet; whereas other altcoins that have been traded for a while usally have support zones; so the risk can be "calculated".

Though, the more risk, the more profits (or losses), so i think a good mix of doing both is perfect!
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Lisk Price just went up by nearly 30% on: January 31, 2018, 08:46:14 AM
So here we are with bad news coming all over crypto turning all market red https://www.coingecko.com/en

And there you have here Lisk which is doing so well up almost 30% https://www.coingecko.com/en/price_charts/lisk/usd

And it's most likely driven by it's listing on bitflyer just few minutes ago. How that news alone is able to turn this coin against the market
Nice, i was already wondering which coin was keeping my USD balance high.  Roll Eyes
Will probably hold at least until mid-year. Lisk is performing very well since several months now and i see no reason why it shouldn't grow even further.
