Lets see this for what it actually is. Theft. Pure and simple.
The sole purpose of a bank (in my mind at least) is to provide security for your deposit. I don't care if it is 0.03%, 10% or .00001% the fact that they are retrospectively taxing is theft. Don't expect citizens to play by the rules when you change them 6 months down the road.

Personally I'm going to sit back and drink some beer. I have 4.3 BTC stuck there which has just been returned to my account from limbo.
The way I see it is that I've know for a hell of a long time that I shouldn't have left it there, however, I have a rare debilitating case of procrastination so I will take it on the chin if i get 'goxed' and my BTC falls into a deep black hole.
On the plus side I still managed to get about 60% out in time and I still have a fridge full of beer. Let the good times roll.....

Just had my BTC return to my MtGOX account from limbo and this is the message I got when trying to transfer out: "Bitcoin withdrawals are temporarily disabled until the issue is solved, please see announcement"
The announcement:
Dear MtGox Customers,
In our efforts to resolve the issue being encountered by various bitcoin withdrawals, it was determined that the increase in the flow of withdrawal requests has hindered our efforts on a technical level. To understand the issue thoroughly, the system needs to be in a static state.
In order for our team to resolve the withdrawal issue it is necessary for a temporarily pause on all withdrawal requests to obtain a clear technical view of the current processes.
We apologize for the sudden short notice. All bitcoin withdrawal requests will be on pause, and the withdrawals in the system will be returned to your MtGox wallet and can be reinitiated once the issue is resolved. The trading platform will perform as usual for the needs of our customers.
Our team will resolve this problem as soon as possible and will provide an update on Monday, February 10, 2014 (JST).
We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused, and thank you for your kind support and considerations.
Sincerely,
The MtGox Team
Apologies if this has been posted already.

I'm having the same issue.
I attempt to access the site and it just fails to load. If I try to access it through TOR, it loads (it says the TOR IP is banned, but the page still loads)
I also attempted to access it through my phone, and it loads fine as well
Strange one. Can't think of any reason they would block my IP. Have you contacted btc-e support and if so what was their response?

Nope, no VPN or anything like that.
I would send them a support request. Maybe you're IP is shared or has been caught doing some not so nice things. Or you could try clearing your cache and cookies. Cleared cache and cookies etc. Unless the missus has been at some dodgy crap which i'd seriously doubt then my IP should be clean. Just the usual downloads from piratebay. Maybe I should get Tor for that. Can I rule out malware?

Hi guys. If anyone could help me out here I would really appreciate it.
I have tried accessing the btc-e site this morning and this evening from my home computer but cannot connect to the site, however, I can access with my mobile phone and work computer. Is it possible that btc-e have blocked my home IP address or maybe malware/virus causing this issue??
All other sites including Gox are working fine for me. Even if it starts working again on my home computer I would be very reluctant to log in. I don't run bots or anything like that and just have a small amount of BTC and LTC on the site.
Any suggestions on what the problem could be and how to resolve it I would appreciate it. Or even if someone could post the btc-e.com email contact details I will send them an email.
Thanks in advance.

Life lesson No.1 - If it seems too good to be true......
Did elevate my heart rate slightly for about 15 seconds until I came straight here.

Cheers lads, good to see that there seems to be a decent amount of interest in Ireland.
Of course there is, we're all sick of the bankers, and the euro as well. You can sing that! I intend on never ever having to go to a bank for any sort of loan again. I cleared all my debts with them. I have a growing stack of physical silver, BTC and LTC which I will use to buy a house in a few years. I'm as confident as I have ever been about anything that silver is a great investment, BTC however is still a risk, but a risk I'm willing to take.

Can't really see it staying below $150 much longer. More bank 'Bail-Ins' coming so expect another rush once that happens. Gox really need to get their act together though.

It does suck but i guess it's necessary. I read a lot here but rarely post. Guess I should get involved a little more.

Hi all,
I've been reading a lot recently on the forum and just wanted to make my first post to say hello. Was interested in investing in BTC some time ago but of course didn't have the funds at the time. Missed the boat slightly on making a good investment but at least I'm in now and can start contributing to the 'project'.
Any more Irish about the forum?
