I'd highly recommend an openly-carried Glock 19 or similar -- if legal in your area, of course ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) (Thankfully, it is here)

I've been overclocking video cards since Riva128's were around... never had a single one die. I guess I should consider myself lucky..? ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) Seriously, it seems very, very rare to me, with people I know as well... although I admit all the non-mining cards I've owned over the years are NVIDIA cards (which have always been of superior quality IMO).

Europe is so annoying. The electricity costs about 20 to 28 Euro Cent. This makes mining difficult.
Shocking. I don't even see how it's viable.. electrical costs here are about $0.04 per kwh (western USA). I can't imagine the kind of electricity bills you guys get out there.

In all honesty, it's very clearly stated that you can only post in the Newbies section when registering here. I'm sorry you've had so much trouble, but as you can see, many, many others have not.
So, I really don't think it's all as complicated as you make it out to be. Just use everyone's best friend (Google) to find the information that is needed, and then follow the steps for starting to mine or whatever you want to do. If you can do this there should not be a problem.
I am absolutely thrilled that I hopped on the BitCoin train last year, and I hope you'll be able to figure it out, too. This community seems to be growing at a rapid pace... the sky is the limit.

Strange post... ASICs are the "death knell" for BTC, and yet your prediction is for... Viability?
Viability is defined as: "1. Capable of living, developing, or germinating under favorable conditions."
So.. yes, I must say I agree with your prediction.

Demand is increasing rapidly.. hash rate is increasing rapidly.. and yet the market cap is still relatively small, and a very, very small percentage of the population is in the game. I would not call the current valuation a "bubble" at all.
If BTC were a public company, most people wouldn't even consider investing. That's because a $600M market cap is miniscule in size, and would be likely to offer substantial risk. Of course this type of comparison isn't totally fair, since BTC is much more than just something to invest in -- it is a currency with unique and highly-desirable properties. There will certainly be some corrections along the way, but I do think the chances of a massive sell-off down to single digits is just out of the question (barring some unforeseen catastrophe). Could we see $30s or $40s again? Absolutely. There will be volatility. However, long-term prospects look very rosey, indeed.

Welcome. I've lurked for a long time as well, but hey I figure it's about time I actually try to interact with this community since I do happen to like BTC quite a bit.. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Yes, that's probably it. I can't say I agree with such a policy, but of course that's not for me to decide here. Thank you.

I periodically get a message in red that appears at the top of the page, which states "You are banned from posting or sending private messages due to Trolling"... and sure enough, when it is there, I can do absolutely nothing.
Why is this strange? Because, I have never trolled or treated anyone in a rude manner whatsoever, and you can feel free to examine my 5 posts. In fact, I remember that I actually received this message before I had ever made a single post.
Is there something wrong with the system here? I hope an administrator can look into this issue.

BTC-E is up for me. Never bought litecoins there, though.

Well, my GPUs are in no danger whatsoever of becoming unprofitable.. as of now, for every $1 of electricity used, I receive coins that are worth approximately $3, sometimes more (varies by the day, sometimes quite a bit, of course). Maybe my electricity is cheaper than some others here, but I'm not using some kind of homemade solar array or anything.
Yes, I'm not mining as many coins as I was a few months ago with my GPUs -- but I'm actually making even more money now, due to the increased exchange rate. I'd hope we all know by now that as the hash rate increases, so does the value of a BTC.
If we start seeing 250, 500, or whatever TH/s, I would be quite sure the value of a BTC will be in the hundreds of dollars per coin. Will GPUs still be worth it then? My guess is that they probably will.
So, if you want to start mining now, I don't see anything wrong with getting some old 5830s off of eBay. You have to start somewhere, and who knows when ASICs will start to become readily available (only a matter of time..)

Don't worry, everything is fine. The total network hash rate has increased dramatically recently, as has the value of BitCoins. I believe GPU mining is still viable, especially if the cost of electricity is fairly low for you (it is for me), because 1 BTC is worth a LOT more than it was just a few short months ago...
