1  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Building mining farm in Canada. on: April 13, 2018, 04:46:49 PM
I've heard it is very cold in deserts in the nights and a lot of sun in day time.

So that, probably, if you accumulate energy daily you get very cheap electricity with solar panels.
And if you run mining rigs only in the night when there is no cooling problem, it will be profitable enough in the end?

Otakama?

Unfortunately we aren't like the sahara in that aspect.
We have seasons and at night in the summer its still warm outside.
That being said I think that math would only work if you pay more for power then you mine, as long as you mine more then your power cost (including cooling and so forth) there is no reason to turn them off. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong and missing something.

But you are right with the solar for sure we have an average of 330 days of sun per year

Its a good idea, you should consider working towards it sooner before the place is crowded because most bitcoin miners major problem is finding a place where electricity is cheaper. At least you can make your money before that happens.
And also, if you intend to mine as a long time business; you should make alternative provision for electricity using solar, you never can tell if the electricity charges might increase. And also provide cooling alternative too cause weather changes.

Thank you very much for your input.
I think we will start hosting/storing miners soon, just making a few changes to the cooling system to ensure its as dust free as we can get it.

Ich habe noch platz (in canada)
0.026 cent pro kWh
Du meinst bestimmt Euro und nicht Cent.
Ausserdem schreibst du in anderen posts, dass du 3USD-Cent pro kWh bezahlst.
Würdest also für andere den Strom ohne Gewinn weiter verkaufen inkl. Stellplatz, Internet usw?
Sehr großzügig von dir Wink

Oh ja euro haha,
0.03usd ist rund 0.026euro.

Na ueber den stellplatz kan man ja reder was das geld angeht.

What is the cost of electricity? Does Canada offer cheaper electricity

About 0.03 USD depending on exchange rate

A lot of it is happening around Drumheller, Alberta, Canada

Isn't that the place where a god put all the dinosaur bones to test our faith?   Roll Eyes

I remember camping around the "hoodoos" as a child.   Smiley

Haha favorite comment yet,
Yes indeed this is where I believe the flying spaghetti monster put bones to test our meat faith in order to praise him and his meatballs.

The location can currently handle about 200 kWh
It can be increased further but we saw no need for it with the original project.

Ah nice, I'm in the process of setting up something similar in Alberta myself, how has your experiences with the power company (ATCO I'm assuming?) been?

ATCO was a pain in the ass to be honest but thats because we told them it was to grow weed as soon as the law passes,
so they did not want to corporate a lot. I am sure they are way easier to deal with for mining.
Where about are you setting up?
Maybe we can do something together, in the light of this new project we have been working on website like nicehash with a cloud aspect to it.

All of the prairie provinces seem to be a good location for mining, especially Alberta with hut8 looking to host 60mw and a small oil company
CEO looking to power miners off grid from NG powered generators somewhere around Grande Prairie. I'm curious do you have a building for your operation?

I do have a building yes, wired for industrial use.

Ah nice, what kind of capacity are you looking at if you don't mind me asking?

What is your approach to guarantee the safety of the equipment?
I mean if I'll send you 100 ASICs how I can be sure that nobody will steal it? how can I be sure, that nobody will mine in the wrong wallet with my asics?
What happens in a case of, for example, fire damage or any other physical damage?  Will you have any responsibility?

Hello,

It has live security monitoring (cameras, motion detectors...) all openings have metal doors, frames and bars in front of the windows.
The place was getting ready to grow legal weed but the political standpoint on that here in Canada has gone a wrong direction, but the advantage is that the security and the power supply is all still in place.

Further, we will try to get insurance that will cover all of the equipment PLUS the lost income if they are stolen or damaged by fire. However, we will make sure we have at the very least insurance in place that covers theft and damages. (The lose of income is the tricky one to find)

The wrong wallet concern, certainly a valid one. Since it is in Canada and not a third world country I guess you could for one sue the living shit out of the company.
I honestly have not put much thought into the "wrong wallet" point that you raised so I am happy to talk about it and see if we can find a solution.
Considering that its 100% legal and that we will have agreements and contracts in place with every customer I am sure we can make it so that you feel secure.

Let me know what you think.

Alberta seems to be the next huge place for mining. I've heard from my friend, that many chinese miners are moving their facilities to Alberta.
Authorities are really smart enough to create lucrative laws and attract long-term oriented investors.
I think it is still not too late to jump in this business.
Good luck to topicstarter!

Thank you

The way things are going you might be able to offer hosting even to 1 or 2 clients who have a medium sized farm of their own.

Best way to proceed is to get all your personal machines up and running. Once you have this set up and planned it's time to see what you have left to offer electrical wise; out to either a partner or as a hosting service.
I've never hosted equipment but another consideration will be making sure you have a solid network set up.

Anyone who does consider sending gear your way will want to see that the site is prepared to handle the miners. This would include providing dust free intake air and appropriate levels of air movement to remove waste heat.

This summer will give you a great indication of what you need to do because those 20 S9's are going to add a lot of extra heat so it will be a good way to learn what you need to plan out moving forward.

In the end sounds like a great place to set up a farm, I was reading about a medium to large sized mine operating there last week. Beautiful country as well came through last summer for the fist time on a family vacation.

Thank you for the input, I will make sure to keep all of those points in mind.

Hey guys,

Has anyone of you followed the mining news about mining in Alberta Canada?

Well if not goole it real quick.
A lot of it is happening around Drumheller, Alberta, Canada

Big BIG mining companies building farms right now as it has some of the cheapest power around and good taxes.
___

Now to the project part, I own Realestate in Drumheller, perfect location and great wiring.

I was thinking about building my own mining farm and am looking for anyone that may be interested in joining.

I currently have 9 S9, about 15gpus and 1 L3+, also just placed another order for 20 S9s

Its not a lot but its a start and with the current prices of the miners this seems to be a perfect time to get into this.

Power cost is about 0.03 USD kWh and the winters get to below -40 so cooling is easy.

Thoughts? Opinions? Question?

14  Bitcoin / Project Development / Releasing Free Payment Gateway on: February 06, 2018, 03:28:29 AM
Hey guys,

We had a lot of success with our website and are working on releasing a payment gateway to the public to use for free.

Would love some input as to what you guys would like to see in the features range.
What code you would want a library for and maybe what shopping cart solutions you guys use so we can look at that.

Do remember this will be free so please keep the requests reasonable.

Thank you for your awesome input, also the fees you are paying is absurd and unfortunately it seems to be very common.
