It highly depends on where you live, where you want to buy that house and what is the current situation in real estate in your country. If buying a house is really what you want, consider buying it in other country - it's especially easy if you live in European Union and you have EU passport/citizenship. There are lot of beautiful places in countries with economical problems, for example buying a beautiful house in Greece in some nice place can be actually much cheaper than buying a house in let's say Berlin suburbs.

Also it's often a good idea to wait till there is a crisis - it always comes. Buying real estate in USA now wouldn't be good idea, but wait a year or two, things can be different and you can safe tens of thousands of dollars simply buying the right time.
