Theft seems to be another popular option Sad

Is it legal or technically possible to issue a credit/debit/gift card which you can backed by BTC? It seems to me this would give the best of both worlds: the anonymity of bitcoins and convenience of traditional cards. You don't even have to print the plastic, an online virtual card would be fine. Sure, the issuer would have to convert the btc into dollars or some other common currency, but that's straightforward enough,  especially if the card is issued by an exchange like BitFloor or CoinBase.

As of anonymity - the only link to the owner is the name/billing address, which are provided by the owner herself. They don't have to be real (but they can be of course).

Even better, the transactions would be reversible - you can file a chargeback on a credit card but you cannot reverse a btc payment.
Did somebody try it? Or is it against Visa/Mastercard rules?

Hi,

I am a developer, looking to build new types of software based on bitcoins. Paid content distribution, smart contracts, automated trading - that sort of thing.

Robots are going to rule the world anyway, might as well join the winning team Grin
