1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: OpenEx to be shut down[Hacked] on: March 23, 2014, 04:00:49 PM
Wanted to mention here that my withdrawls have gone through and I haven't lost anything.

Mine too. My ATC ( therealaltcoin.org ) withdrawal went through quickly back when we were first told to withdraw funds. My BTC withdrawal, made at the same time, at first didn't go through. It eventually showed up on the 18th -- I just noticed it today.

I don't think r3wt is a scammer, and I appreciate getting my money out, but I would not trust funds to this site or his future sites because of the way this one was compromised. For ATC-BTC trading (and Litecoin and Namecoin), I've switched to and recommend x-bt.com which has been solid so far and seems to have better technology/skills behind it. Discussion on IRC at #altcoin and #x-bt.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SHA256] Altcoin on: March 11, 2014, 03:23:35 AM
I have 5235.9216097 Altcoins.  Anyone want to make an offer??  I have no problem going first.  My Bitcoin Address is 1DKcQ46nLgsJiVQC3D9snmrpv52YndD87j.

I can do 125 satoshis each this week. If you agree, send to ATC address 1NtcYuXH4yyrrQmr4dDM3D8opSx4NkP7sj.

(You go first as you suggested. You can see in the history I've done other larger deals here and not scammed.)

Note that you may be able to do better if you use the X-BT exchange at https://www.x-bt.com/markets/atcbtc

There was a transaction fee of .0095, so it was slightly less than stated to pay the fee.  Transaction ID: 7e523ff12c2875f1374da42df13762c355900f7b7789bd62608e4eb7da97bad8-000

Checking the block explorer at http://atc.blockr.io/tx/info/7e523ff12c2875f1374da42df13762c355900f7b7789bd62608e4eb7da97bad8, your send has a lot of confirmations, so I was just gearing up to pay you 0.00654489 BTC when I noticed I haven't received these yet.

Then I scrolled down to the bottom of that very long transaction, where it shows that you sent the Altcoins to your own Bitcoin address (by mistake, I assume), not to my Altcoin address.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, man, but I think you just nuked your coins.

A second pool, non-p2pool would be nice.

Still no alternative pool?

Looks like pool-hopper interest in ATC waned after the price dropped on the two exchanges, so the Coinminer pool has dropped to an all-time-low of around 10GH/s for the past couple of days. The monthly chart for the pool at http://coinminer.net:19982/static/graphs.html?Month is full of vertical jumps and drops as big miners rotate in and out of the pool.

Still, based on my back-of-the-envelope calculations the overall network is still humming along, as it has still averaged about 250GH/s for the past 24hrs, minting blocks a bit slower than 10 per hour at the current 50K difficulty which was based on 339GH/s.

Question for both of you... how would another pool improve anything here if the bigger miners stay solo? I agree that it would be nice if the unidentified 240GH/s would come out into the open... I would have thought (at least in Bitcoin) "more" P2Pool would be a good thing.

Hrm, I guess with P2Pool, if we don't know who the various big 100GH/s or 200GH/s or 300GH/s miners are who pop in and out of the Coinminer pool, then it doesn't matter if they're in the pool or not, they're unknowns and that's bad. Are you concerned that they could be a single entity controlling > 50% of the hash power even now?

Pankkake, are you saying you'd like to see a non P2Pool pool because that would at least have an identified owner/BDFL because then we'd know the "balance of power" on the ATC network? Then we could say Pool X has x%, Coinminer has y%, and unknown is z%? And then, since individual miners would know that GoodGuyGreg runs Pool X, they could shift their hash too and from Pool X or Coinminer if either gets too powerful?

I guess a second pool would be handy for uptime/failover for pool miners, and if Coinminer were again a big chunk of the network, for <buzzword>decentralization</buzzword>.

Are there other benefits of more pools that I'm missing?

where is the wallet for this altcoin?

See the original post on page 1 at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=443108.0

The coin's home page is at http://therealaltcoin.org/

Good luck!

2 TH/s pointed at the pool. Someone seriously wants some altcoins.

That escalated quickly... I was going to post something yesterday about ATC hitting 1TH/s and by the time I get here it's at 2TH/s!

Is anyone working on a second pool?

ThickAsThieves, what sort of things were you offering bounties for?

Is #altcoin logged anywhere like #bitcoin-assets? Some of us are more web readers/lurkers than IRC-ers, but don't want to miss any important news.

Selling 3097 ATC in BTC offer??

I can do 250 satoshis each. PM a BTC address and I'll PM you an ATC address. You'll go first, I don't know you and you can see in the history I've done other larger deals here and not scammed. You may be able to do better if you use an exchange -- see:

https://www.x-bt.com/markets/atcbtc

r3wt, this might be a good time to send a usability note your way: your Buy / Sell lists on OpenEx autorefresh every few seconds, which is a real PITA for anyone trying to scroll down those lists and look at the order depth. In Firefox it jumps to the top every few seconds, when I'm trying to read. I've closed the site and left frustrated angry more than once because of it. I may not be the only one.

ThinkAsThieves, are you hodling yet? I'll give you and discobean a shot at saudade's sell order.

I haven't been on the #altcoin IRC channel yet, I'll do that later today.

First though I have to go plant these magic beans in the yard. If there's no beanstalk my wife will beat me for selling the cow.

I'd like to buy 20k ATC for 180 btc satoshis, answer here or send me a pm.

Can do. Send me an ATC address, I'll go first.

In other news, I've received the payments from MPOE-PR and Atruk, thank you both.

If any other hoarders want to pick up any upcoming buy orders, please do... just trying to provide some liquidity here.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SHA256] Altcoin on: February 08, 2014, 04:11:13 AM
Send 30,000 Altcoins to 1N2vdbBpvhmeAELqCdWYWcLo5rxnBsZ2zo

Then post an address and receive 0.045 BTC and a txid.

If you get in the WOT this trade would be worthy of a rating.

It is done. When you have enough confirmations to be comfortable, or when you wake up, please send the BTC to 1Pvp3xUJbvFRTNzWAYTeSGBozJB79eevFF

WTB 30,000 Altcoins at 150 satoshis per.

Sold, and welcome to the new global elite (...of underpants gnomes). Please post an ATC address and I'll go first.

I'll get myself set up on the WoT this weekend, just in case my altcoin trades are deemed worthy of a rating by anyone in the WoT.

Edit: added image and link in case anyone doesn't get it.

Confirmations will take several hours -- it looks like the Altcoin mining network dropped this morning to about 1-2 blocks (confirmations) per hour as the early horde of miners has moved on after the difficulty increase the other day.

That means good odds for anyone who wants to point powerful hardware at it right now, just sayin'.

Send to 1MPGRCrbib3aFGtTCLF5nADZcLEAgdTu7E and publish your addy.

Sent! Nice vanity ATC address, btw. Once you have all the confirmations you need, you can send payment to BTC address:

Fight the fight, sing the song.

I vote for "Around The World" by  Daft Punk.

Any word on the source code?

Meanwhile my bid at 125 satoshi per up to 500k sits unfilled. This is a most disorderly marketplace!

MPOE-PR, I have not forgotten you! I'll sell you 500K of my new hoard for your 125 bid, send me an ATC address and I'll go first (once my confirmations are all in and I've finished paying HunterS). If you can do 130 satoshis to avoid setting the entire ATC economy back by 5 satoshis, I'd be much obliged. But up to you.

Given how hard it is to mine new ATC for the next two weeks at least, I hope I won't be selling this low again. Except for tonight's pizza buy, of course.

must be late in canada

Yes it sure was... why can't we all just agree to live in one time zone and leave the rest of the planet to the more charismatic megafauna?

Anyway, we're both awake now and This Is Happening. It's turned into Lesson Four: How Confirmations Work.

We're doing it in 4 quarters, and I went first. So I'm sitting there staring at the wallet software on one screen, wondering (like any *coin noob) why the transaction doesn't even have a single confirmation yet. It's been like 5 minutes, WTF? Is it a double spend? Did all the miners go away? Who is this HunterS anyway? That was a lot of money for a joke coin with no source code, you dipstick...

You know, classic "Oh crap" panic after sending out BTC and waiting for the whole counterparty risk bit to be over with. Meanwhile I have bfgminer running on the other screen, and nothing much happening there. New blocks have slowed way down since the diff change (because that's the whole point of a diff change).

And somewhere in my lizard brain there's that panic moment, that something's wrong, blocks are too slow AND confirmations are too slow, what are the odds of that happening at the same-- DING! Bfgminer shows a new block discovered on the network at the exact same moment as the wallet software shows its first confirmation.

(Insert Sudden Clarity Clarence meme image here.)

Of course I know how blocks and confirmations work, whatamistupid? I've read it plenty of times. I've bought/sold/traded plenty. But seeing the stuff I take for granted in Bitcoin happen on a small chain right in front of me... priceless.

Every Comp Sci professor who wants to teach how cryptocurrencies work should start an alt for their class, have them all set up with wallets and mining software and watch it run for the whole semester.

And you don't need a Comp Sci professor to do it. Just download altcoin!

Ladies first. I'll revise my standing offer to all y'all to the same, 125 satoshi per ATC for whatever you have left after you sell to MPOE-PR.

Hrm... what will we call fractions of an ATC? How about "altoshi"?
