1  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Cointent - Micro payments to display content on: April 20, 2015, 09:49:25 PM
Just to make sure I get this right, Cointent lets you posted (unsollicited) ads/posts in exchange for money?

As in, it's not a way to monetize content as a content creator (in the form of using the script as a paywall of sorts)?

It only posts the content if you send an equivalent of $1 to Cointent

In the sites current form, this is correct.

But the thing is that I am able to do it the other direction. It's really the trigger that is the innovation, so basically pay a micro fee to allow another action to happen. In this case it is to submit content, but I could easily change it to allow content to be displayed, or to upvote content, or in a social media style website, allow a connection between two people.

Thanks to others for the feedback  Grin

Wait, let me get this straight....
You are asking for your website visitors to pay you $1 for something you want to advertise (for someone else of which you probably got paid for already)?

If that is the case:
Here's an advice: Use your OWN original material and charge for that.
Tutorials or whatever man.
But charging me for something I can get for free?
Seriously?

EDIT: I like the name btw, it's really cool  Wink

No, I'm saying that is another possible implementation! Currently its asking for $1 to submit content and have a space on the front page.

Another implementation may work the other way, if you pay $1 it will display information that is stored on the database, like a paywall. The innovation is the micro fee triggering a consequence.

There are currently 5 spaces for content.. if you click on the "Cointent" button for each space, this opens a form to submit content to that space. Any submitted content, replaces the content that is currently there

Cointent.co.uk is a demonstration of the potential of bitcoin as programmable money. Content can only be submitted once a $1 has been paid.

First venture into coding for bitcoin so go easy! Constructive feedback welcomed  Grin

@mymenace Thanks mate. Just need to generate interest somehow Grin
6  Economy / Services / Re: Pixels for Bitcoin on: January 07, 2014, 06:30:31 PM
@gamybtc I'm hoping it will be an advertising platform for the Bitcoin network, one place where someone can come to visit the best bitcoin sites. I'll do a blog entry explaining what each site is offering, and possibly a list of the sites.. I probably should mention that on the site. Thanks for that lol
7  Economy / Services / Re: Pixels for Bitcoin on: January 07, 2014, 05:55:05 PM
@mymenace I didn't come across that site before, it doesn't seem like a lot of effort went into the design, and I believe the angle of the 2000 bitcoin Homepage will create more interest.

@eternalgloom I appreciate price might seem steep, particularly on start up, but I'm aiming at the best bitcoin businesses. I was thinking of offering a better price for early adopters, what would you consider reasonable? I have a google adwords campaign, social media, and I've contacted several news outlets. I suppose it's only news though if people are interested. I also have the blog there for SEO and hopefully a reason for visitors to come back to the page.

@film2240, thanks for the feedback, I think online advertising is an industry ideal for bitcoin..worldwide currency for a worldwide audience. Good luck with your own ventures/ideas whatever they may be.

Selling advertising space for bitcoin. If 1m pixels can be done for dollars, why not Bitcoin?!

Granted it is a novel project, but I'm hoping that it will be a place where the best bitcoin businesses are showcased on one worldwide advertising platform.

Becomes a bit of a joke when everyone and their doge is creating a coin.. but bitcoin and litecoin are mainly needed to get hold of most alts which will only increase the liquidity in the main cryptos

Litecoin wallet was crashing for me, saying DB corruption, if I open terminal and enter

cd /Applications/Litecoin-Qt.app/Contents/MacOS

./Litecoin-Qt -reindex

It works..

These messages are then displayed in terminal,

Hahaha, yesss, you've got yourself a deallll lol
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Litecoin massively undervalued? on: November 18, 2013, 08:14:28 PM
Litecoin is hardly useless, and is probably under selling itself by saying it is silver to bitcoin gold. At the end of the day, litecoin functions and has many of the advantages of Bitcoin. You can still transfer money across the planet in an instant, avoiding clearing houses. The only factor that should be the difference is supply, Bitcoin/4!

Bitcoin has the advantage of sentiment being the first crypto around, but there is definitely value in Litecoin..
14  Economy / Digital goods / JackpotBitcoin.com < premium domain for sale on: November 18, 2013, 07:49:27 PM
I bought this domain with the idea to build a Bitcoin gambling website but haven't got the time..

so I am considering putting it up for sale, anyone interested?

Don't know if anyone has sold concert tickets before, could be a bitcoin first?!
16  Economy / Economics / Re: why did bitcoin get so powerful so fast -- not just price -- media , etc on: April 03, 2013, 08:39:12 PM
Mt Gox is down, which is going to cause the price to drop. People getting excited about the increases but there are going to be plenty more peaks and troughs..
17  Economy / Economics / Re: To all BTC sellers: 1 BTC = 1000 USD April 9, 2013 16:00 UTC on: April 02, 2013, 07:06:45 PM
For Bitcoins to work, it needs to exchange hands, people need to use it. Hoarding bitcoins and hoping the value continues to rise can only end in failure for the currency.
18  Other / Beginners & Help / UK Cashback site that pays bitcoins.. on: March 31, 2013, 06:01:09 PM
I'm thinking of creating a cash back site that pays bit coins for completing 3rd party offers. You would sign up, and get paid bitcoins for completing different offers such as sportsbook sign ups, bingo sign ups, lovefilm trials etc..

Would this be something of interest to the BTC community? It would initially be for the UK market then depending on success, open it up to america and elsewhere.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cyprus' emergency restrictions.. on: March 27, 2013, 09:52:16 PM
Ah, just had a look at that localbitcoins, very good website.. the more people willing to buy and sell BTC for cash the better..
20  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cyprus' emergency restrictions.. on: March 27, 2013, 09:20:43 PM
Your right Tea, Towels, Vogons etc., at €10 premium already! The people that own that domain, localbitcoins.com have registered the domain through godaddy, unlikely to be owned by people in Cyprus anyway?
