With bitcoin - only invest an amount you can afford to lose. It may end up $1000 a coin or $1.

this is spot on.

Snip

So if i wanted to how would i get my encrypted wallet out of their database so they no longer had it?

For true secure transfer (to keys that have never been known to an online, network connected system), create new keys offline and do a send transaction so the funds are transferred there.

is that because the network will know the public address by me providing it..? but if its completely offline how can it validate the address or is it because it doesnt have to?

its more based on my lack of understanding...

Let me know if this is correct -  they dont actually have my wallet on their site/server they just decrypt it when i login (where from im not clear) as the wallet is either on my pc, from Google drive or Huh

I do realise its my browser that's decrypting my wallet not the actual site or server they are just providing a gui - correct?

Now if i dont have my wallet online and someone wants to send me some Bitcoins to my public address i will not actually receive those in my wallet but the network will know those coins belong to my address but if i view my wallet offline it wont show me my balance until the wallet is back online?
8  Economy / Economics / Re: BITCOINS ARE CRASHING SELL SELL SELL on: March 28, 2013, 10:06:24 PM
they are dropping pretty quickly!
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Blockchain - how do i get out on: March 28, 2013, 10:05:24 PM
but my question still remains how do i remove the association of my wallet/public key from blockchain.info?
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The correction? on: March 28, 2013, 09:58:45 PM
but a correction would mean that BTC are overvalued but i cant see how they are if people are still wanting to buy them and its also counterintuitive for people who own BTC to sell.

Who says people want to buy them? If the price (of anything) drops, it should be because either supply increased (not possible in the case of Bitcoin) or demand decreased. If the prices are dropping due to lower demand, then that's exactly what's happening, that people don't want to buy them at that price point.

Likewise if prices are dropping, then people who bought low want to sell them asap as high as possible before the price goes even lower.

fair enough, the price is dropping

edit: A better way of asking my question is how do i decrypt my wallet file and this was my issue the bitcoin client wont import the .json file i now realise I need to use Multibit.

13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoin will reach $1000 USD before the end of 2014 (BET) on: March 28, 2013, 09:27:19 PM
with the same growth it has shown for the past ~3 months it will take ~27 more months or 2.25 years which will be mid way through 2015 to get to 1k

16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie restrictions on: March 28, 2013, 09:19:58 PM
Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts (new topics or replies).

If you have really good posts, you can post a request for preemptive whitelisting in the appropriate topic.

Also:
- Newbies cannot upload their own avatars.
- You must have made one post in order to send PMs.
- You need 10 posts to put a link in your signature.

Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for your PM or posting permissions to be granted. (The system automatically checks every 10 minutes and promotes people as appropriate.)

ahh i see 5 posts as well, there goes my lurker approach.
