Very interesting list! Some of the notable new coins like Freicoin are still going strong over a year later. How much interest is still left in Terracoin, though? Should that be moved to the dead/dying category?

Interesting point regarding the precious metals but you're right, the amount of metal in the safe doesn't decrease. It's also an interesting example given the recent IRS guidance on Bitcoin being "property" rather than a currency.
It's unfortunate that so many people are using cryptocurrencies as a vehicle to make a lot of fiat gain rather than to use the cryptocurrency as a currency. We're not going to change the system if Bitcoin, Litecoin, Freicoin, etc.. are thought of as just another way to get rich and/or hoard and save.

Hey guys, I've been really interested in and reading a lot about Freicoin lately. One of the things I think the various cryptocoin communities can do better is foster an environment where hoarding isn't beneficial - spending the coins is. This coin has been around a while and think it's worth another look (or a first look if you've never seen it). I'd love to read your thoughts about it.

Hey Josh, it seems I've been getting an increased amount of Failed Miner Alert messages. Wednesday I got three but last night I got messages about every 2 hours starting at 1:40am EST and stopping at 8:10am EST. I'm not seeing any obvious problems with my miners and my workers are on US1. Should I switch to US2 or 3?

Received confirmation yesterday at 7:35 AM PST of the delivery from USPS. Will be waiting for ionux to update us on that.
Confirmed - two packages received containing the two S1 miners. Talked to GS about it this morning over text and will be sending the second 0.893 BTC payment Friday or Saturday at the latest.

Not true. We have quite a few.
Dude, it's really, really simple. If you show proof you will gain a lot more trust. Write your name on a piece of paper with today's date and take a picture of it in front of one of your several miners. Problem solved. Until you do that, you have nothing to sell.

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello all. I have contacted Ionux about selling him 2(TWO) Antminer S1's I have. We have decided to post this here in the public forums, to be transparent and clear about our intents and keep a clear record.
We have agreed on a price of BTC0.893 EACH (1.786 total) shipped, and are going to avoid using an escrow at this time as we both feel we can trust each other and promote our reputation in the meantime. He will be sending me exactly half payment up front, and the completed payment when he obtains further funds on Friday, April 11 (+/- 1 day). I will mail package tomorrow morning (Monday, April 7) after initial half payment is confirmed, and then provide Ionux with tracking information immediately.

We will keep this updated throughout to be as clear as possible and keep an open record.
I've entered into an agreement with GiantSlug to purchase two Antminer S1's for 0.893 BTC each shipped. GS is sending both miners to me tomorrow morning (4/7/2014) and I will be making the first payment of 0.893 tomorrow morning and the final 0.893 on 4/11/2014 +/- 1 day. GS has provided me images of the working units and the other images shown here in his post and I am satisfied he has these in his possession to sell. I'm signing this message as proof that I've agreed to this and will be abiding by these terms. I will update this thread with the transaction details for the payments as they are made. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.22 (MingW32) iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJTQfclAAoJEK7em4+zEcVrsd4H/igEl/UNTS/Qq9zxJFdxSpRg 5ZeS3ic1gfnDvrtBkigddP0H75VtvLAxJxd3QT/G/vmzCgPVeUUp6umhzRuEzamA hBPJTopfxd/WSO2Q0scJd3JdcSSkckhqK/m0l0dKrt8bdymERdOopH9j6//XKaV5 stE9BKzfNH4MOs/ZetEFjggho2hnYcJy+kL5FVTke3cjdPepQnl/DZuIoAj9LGDM JuolI4BuN/6Ot//OY1ELgFKkXYWXaXbQphikKucElyy1jilAUO/TS/Gd0uSQmp/+ W80LWQOHYELS/K4Lz6GFS7sajrT6bDJ9VyS9h/1hAY7b4ro5P7jnMwNYGp2rW7Q= =sLhY -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

My point is more that at the time the s2s were announces and sold out cost per GH/s was about the same (~$600 usd for s2 plus ~ $100 for psu = $700 for 200gh/s overclocked, so around $3500 without warranty for 1th from s1s vs $3599 for 1th of the s2). At the time the s1s sold out they cost was closer to $2500 for 1th from the s1s, which would make $3599 for the s2s much less desirable.
Yeah, it's purely academic at this point, but the price for the S2's were $3899 for the first batch (the $3599 price was for their second batch). Anyway, I agree with you - the S1's were arguable a better value but it didn't stop the first batch of S2's from selling out within hours and the second batch within a few days.

The cost of the s1s did not drop really low until after the s2s were sold out. When the s2s were selling the s1s cost was high enough that the s2s were still a better deal. If they were to post the s2s while the s1s were around the 400 each mark then I doubt they would have sold as quickly.
Well, not really. Not trying to be argumentative at all but Bitmain started lowering the price weekly well before the S2's came onto the scene. Consider these facts: - Bitmain announced the last batch of S1's on Jan 15th for 2.2 BTC each.
- The price had been steadily lowered each week and was 0.996 the day before the S2 was announced.
- Bitmain announces the first batch of S2's on March 14th.
- Price further steadily lowered to the present 0.893.
The decrease before the S2's announcement was 55%. The decrease after the S2 was only 11%. So the S1's were more cost effective on a per-machine basis when the S2's were announced, which was mentioned in a few threads: $3899 for 1TH/s S2 vs ~$3000 for 1TH/s worth of S1's.

More on topic, I have a few s1's that are used and currently mining and some new ones scheduled to arrive on Monday, you are welcome to make offer on some in either lot but like pretty much everyone I will not be letting them go cheap.
Oh, and I almost overlooked this, but cheap and fair are two different concepts. I'm willing to be fair and make it a win-win for everyone. In my opinion, fair is not price gouging - and I'm not saying anyone is - but people will pay if they believe it is worth it for them. Again, my opinion is that a fair price for a new one is what it was just sold for new. It's not cheap or expensive - that's just what the price was. A used item is worth less. This isn't a collector's item that I'm going to put on a display shelf somewhere.

Why not just visit the re-seller "service announcements" and buy it comparable price with them? plus they are in the states as well..
Yeah, I've looked at that and I've made 2 purchased from Ninjatech in the past. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view), the resellers that do have S1's in stock are charging a premium over the regular price. That's why I specified used gear. I'm not personally interested in paying more for these, at this time. I hope you do not take offense by this, but you picked a bad time to buy if you do not wish to pay more. The "new gen" Miners are backordered everywhere and it seems that even official bitmain distributors do not know if the s1 is coming back or not. My gut is telling me that bitmain was either selling of the remaining s1's cheap to make room for the s2's in prodution or they just realized the cheap s1's were killing the market for the s2's. Either way I think the days of dirt cheap s1's are done, but I guess only time will tell. More on topic, I have a few s1's that are used and currently mining and some new ones scheduled to arrive on Monday, you are welcome to make offer on some in either lot but like pretty much everyone I will not be letting them go cheap. No offense taken! Interesting theories. Looking at how quickly the S2's sold out I don't think they were much of an interference, however. But the market will bear whatever people are willing to pay and at this current difficulty level I'm not willing to pay more than what they were just selling for. That's just me, though. I'm buying these to use in my own mining operation and don't need the ROI to be any higher than necessary.

Hola everyone. I have a number of S1 units running at the following OC setting ->
option 'freq_value' '4e81' #375M option 'chip_freq' '375' option 'timeout' '37'
Seeing as how I don't have a KillaWatt handy how many watts should I expect this setting to pull at the wall? Thanks in advance for your reply.
H@shKraker
You should be pulling somewhere around 400 watts at the wall for an OC'd S1. I wouldn't go higher than 375, either. I've read their VRMs can't take that for very long. YMMV.

Guys, be careful when pushing a PSU > 80% of its rating. It could shorten its lifespan and possibly short out and endanger the equipment it's hooked up to.
In any event, I've used all Corsair CS750 and CX750's - both modular and not - until this last trip to Best Buy which was out of them. I picked up an EVGA 600w single 12v rail unit (Bronze rating) that seems to be working just fine powering one S1. The only problem with this EVGA power supply are the power connectors. They are *thisclose* to being too short. The Corsair power supply cables easily traverse the distance between the Ant S1's power connectors, both in the stock configuration and when the blades are turned outward. I've also just picked up a Thermaltake 800w single rail PSU and will be trying it out when my new S1 arrives that I ordered from NinjaTech last Monday night.

Posted yesterday and no hits on this so I've expanded to pretty much any gear hashing at 200GH/s or greater. I'm open to 1TH/s gear as long as the price is fair - anyone selling a gently used Dragon miner, for example?
