Quick news. After contacting canaan by email, they gave me a firmware. And with a command to  auto-tune the frequency and voltage , it works fine at initial hashrate, with still few high temperature, but ignored.

For them, "The temperature is faulty caused by the IC temperature sensor" ,but I "could ignore the issue ,because the actual temperature is almost same with nearby IC temp. "
3  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: AValon 1246 83T unstable on: November 01, 2021, 04:28:22 PM
After a power on off, it loops and can't mine. It doen't accept temp > 110° on a chip.   Huh
Same problem if y put it outsite where it's 13° C

Will try canaan support by email.

I captured the log just before the crash and after a crash

before crash after 202s, where we have theses max value for temp : MTmax[108 74 111] MTavg[62 59 63]
https://pastebin.com/xNDqrmRG

after crash 206s, where we see "out over hot", and wrong PS value : PS[0 1214 2 0 0 1272]
https://pastebin.com/ZtejwG4x

if someone have the previous firmware (Version 21042001_4ec6bb0_61407fa), i'm interested

I get the  new firmware "A1246-A3201-Plus-P3600W-New-Temp65_21071301" from canaan.

Same temp problem, and with it, it can't go up to 73 TH in turbo mode

here are the temp from log

It's what I have done. They said open it to see if everything is OK 😂
6  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: October 29, 2021, 08:05:01 AM
I see hight temperature ( >100) in some chips and high voltage

The wrong values in the PS come just before a reboot. Maybe because of the high temperature of some chips, when the system stops
7  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: AValon 1246 83T unstable on: October 28, 2021, 09:31:12 PM
I see high voltage where there is high temp chips. Is it that ?

8  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: AValon 1246 83T unstable on: October 28, 2021, 09:04:33 PM

What I guess may be the first hashboard has a bad heatsink bad adhesive or solder on that chip same on the 3rd hashboard. However, would you mind try replacing the PSU I see weird under Vo it shows 0 so it might be your PSU giving a false signal?

Thanks for your help. Where do you see "weird under V0" ? As the avalon is still under waranty, with log problem I coul'd ask for a new one

9  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: October 28, 2021, 12:37:16 PM
Yes maybe a problem with sensor temp ?

Since few days, I have difficulties with my Avalon1246 83T : Hashrate drops, and it reboots often. Problems occur in normal or turbo mode
Previously, It worked without problem.

Here are log and picture.

I could catch a log with SYSTEMSTATU[Work: Out Over Hot, Hash Board: 3 ] error ; but I always see 26° / 66° in the dashboard, not high
https://pastebin.com/uGH0PH9w

It's not an internet provider problem, because just next to it in the same room an other 1246 85T runs perfectly.

Note that fans run at 6500 RPM (whereas on other 1246 85T runs at 3500. Maybe it's ok)

Here a view of minerstat where ou can see it works during hours (days) and then it has problems

Any idea of the problem ?

Hello

which avalon 1246 do you have and what are their fan speed?

I have one 1246 83t at 6500 rpm and one 1246 85t at 3500 rpm

Hello

I have one avalon 1246 83T, running with the 4 fans at 6500 rpm and 65°C; And just next, one avalon 1246-N-85T, running with the 4 fans at 3500 rpm and 75°C

Is it a normal behavior ?
Is it possible to manage the speed and the temperature target ?

Thanks
13  Bitcoin / Mining support / Some reboot with my Avalon 1246 on: October 02, 2021, 07:31:19 AM
Hello

Since few days, I have regular auto reboot with my miner.
Is it a normal behavior ? Nothing special in the log.
I use the stratum+tcp://sha256asicboost.eu-west.nicehash.com pool

Below the chart of minerstat

Hello

Strap and rxboost don't increase my hashrate. I have rx480 and rx570 cards, latest AMD drivers on Win10, bios are moded, and I use the -cclock and -mclock option : I get ~30 Mh/s for each card.
Is it OK ? Why strap and rxboost don't increase ?

Thanks

Did you start ethdcrminer64.exe with admin privileges for the first time to install the driver? If your bioses are modded you can see no difference with strap mode but you should see the difference with rxboost option

Yes I ran the  install driver, and now I don't have any error.

With rxboost, I 've only ~31 Mh/s instead of 30

Hi everyone, my miner has been working fine for several days in a row, until all of a sudden it has started mining at 0.000 MH/s, just after switching from Dev mining fee (which is not actually mined but still appear) to the pool where I am mining.

It was really weird as it kept mining for a good 15 minutes at 0.000 Mh/s without restarting or stopping, and even closing and restarting Claymore's software it was still mining at 0.000 Mh/s, while after restarting the miner itself it has started working normally again.

I have searched but it looks like no one has got this issue? All I could see online was people having one GPU going to 0, but not all 6 GPU and the software still going.

Any idea why this happened?

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

My rig is made of 5x XFXrx480 8GB GPUs + 1x rx480Nitro 8GB and the batch file is the standard one, as recommended in Claymore's readme.

Any idea regarding this? Thanks

Maybe a windows update.
Try to uninstall the driver with ddu, and install the blockchain driver

What is the difference among 3 intensity setting flag?
-li
-ethi
-dcri

I can see
-dcri adjust intensity w/o change hashrate
-ethi adjust hashrate
-li seems similar to ethi, is there any differnce?
-ttli apply li when temperature threshold is reached.

Actually, all these settings will increase or decrease the mining intensity, but in different ways depending on how you want to use them.

-dcri  Used for individual tuning of each GPU for maximum hash rate.
It will definitely increase or decrease your hash rate depending on how well it is tuned.
If it is tuned badly then the intensity is actually lower and you will get less hash rate
but lower temp on that GPU. Tuned well and the hash rate goes up and also the temp. You want this
tuned to the highest hash rate on each card.

-ethi  Used to set the Max intensity per card. If you set this to the max allowed your cards
will mine to the maximum intensity allowed by the miner. However, if you have badly
tuned the -dcri then that card will still not be getting you the maximum intensity.
Also, the -li if used will lower the intensity if you have it set. And of course  the -ttli will
also cause the card to use a lower intensity if the temp you have specified is reached.

-li      Used if you’re having a heat problem with a card. It basically decreases the
intensity of the GPU therefore lowering the heat.

-ttli    Automatically decreases the intensity for a card if the temp you specify is exceeded, that lowers the temp of that card.

Here is the way I think these setting should be used. It is how I do them and I have no issues.
If anyone else has a better or different method I would like to know what it is please.

1st:
-ethi
Set this to maximum value to get the most mining intensity and the highest hash rates.

2nd:
-dcri
Tune your cards to get the maximum hash rate on each card. Each card will probably have a different setting.

3rd:
-ttli
I set this to a temp that I don't want my cards to go above at any time.
I set mine to 75. I don't want any of my cards to go above 75. If for some reason they do
then the miner will automatically reduce the intensity on that card and lower the temp for me.
If this happens you can see it in the logs. Then you can set the -li for that card only to lower
it's intensity so that it doesn't happen again.

4th:
-li
I would only use this to reduce the intensity on a card that was giving me a temp issue
that the other settings did not handle.

If all your cards have slightly high temps after doing this, then the best thing to do is
use the -ethi and lower that number for all the cards. All cards will then mine at a lower intensity
and the temp will be dropped on them all.

These are my opinions and experience of how these setting work.

Edit: Note

All this assumes that you have not overclocked to a point where increasing the intensity will cause you a stability issue.

ethi can be set to 16 max, not 8

Hello

At the first start of my mining rig, I've got 25 Mh/s / card.
I need to restart the miner, for example with the -minspeed command, to get 30 Mh/s

Do you know why ?

Thanks
