1  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Advice on online shop selling goods in crypto: real or scam? on: November 08, 2019, 07:00:21 PM
If you aren't interested in downloading OpenBazaar on your desktop you do still have two options! 1) you can browse the marketplace to at least see what is available using openbazaar.com and 2) If you are more comfortable downloading apps on your mobile device you can check out Haven which is a mobile client that runs the OpenBazaar network. Check it out at gethaven.app.

Disclosure: I work for OB1, the company that has been leading the development of the OpenBazaar network and has also built Haven to make it accessible on mobile.

Is there a browser-based version yet?

I've seen browser based searches but there's no way the project itself would support a full browser version. No one would bother running the client so the whole thing would seize up.

People who are invested in the platform -- OB1 and its investors, vendors who depend on the platform for sales, maybe even a few buyers who want to support the network -- would run the client.

I'm not sure exactly how OpenBazaar's P2P networking works but in theory, a lite browser-based version that pings nodes should be possible. They should consider something to make it more accessible.

There is browser version! Though it does not yet support buying, that functionality is in development now. The goal here is to eventually have OpenBazaar completely browser-based. https://openbazaar.com

Also newly released is a mobile experience for OpenBazaar called Haven: https://gethaven.app

Happy to answer any questions anyone has about the platform & various clients, I am the Marketing & Communications Lead at OB!
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this Amazon's blockchain killer? on: May 17, 2019, 07:28:53 PM
This is just a catchy headline from a third party reporting on OpenBazaar! (Disclosure: I work for OB1, the company leading the development of OpenBazaar)

Amazon took over 20 years to become what we know it to be today, even in a brand new commercial environment where they had functionally no competition. They paved the way and set the standard by which pretty much all other ecommerce operations now measure themselves.

However, there are plenty of areas where all types of ecommerce marketplaces can thrive that are not trying to be "the everything store."

For example:

Etsy is an ecommerce platform, but they deal with handmade goods.
AirBnB is an ecommerce platform, but they deal with travel housing & experiences.
Ebay is an ecommerce platform and while they have some overlap with Amazon now, people primarily think of them as the place they want to go to get collectible, resale, or other hard-to-find items.

I personally use each of these platforms along with Amazon for different needs and wants I have.

Right now OpenBazaar is much like Bitcoin itself: decentralized, open-source, and here to first just give people choices about the kinds of currencies and platforms they want to use based on their values.

It's the place to go if you want to spend and earn Bitcoin (or other cryptos) with no middlemen charging fees, holding (and potentially stealing!) your coins or tracking your data!

Excited to see which vendors on OpenBazaar have submitted! They've already been sharing some good deals in our Slack, like I know Andreas Antonopoulos is offering his new book for just BTC 0.011 ($8.00USD) through OpenBazaar only: https://blog.openbazaar.org/openbazaar-ecosystem-cryptobooks/

You should try the local ad sites to sell your stuff.

Not forum, but you can sell your stuff in open bazaar

I don't think places like open bazaar or olx etc or other online markets are for digital goods, and OP is willing to sell digital goods but not physical goods, digital goods are mostly sold in forums where people come looking for such things.
I think you are not aware of Openbazaar,   is a online web source where people buy sell their digital goods.
Openbazaar is very good option to sell digitalcoins. you can open your own digital goods shop in Openbazaar, org and sell everything there.

Seem like a failed project though. I joined openbazaar just after its being made available for users. Set up my account to test whether a market is established. Knowing there had been lots of users from our country, there's no Fellow countrymen ever had their store set up.

My name is Jenn, I work with the OB1 team that is building OpenBazaar & it is definitely good for selling digital goods! The development team has made lots of improvements in the current 1.0 since launch with many, many more coming in the next few months. 6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar , a failure ? on: September 07, 2016, 05:51:12 PM
Hey everyone, my name is Jenn & I'm with OB1, the company created by the people who started OpenBazaar & are leading development of the platform. Curious as to the recurring suggestion of more advertisement in this thread, what do you think would be the most accessible & helpful? More traditional kinds of advertising like PPC & banner ads or just generally being more present in industry blogs & forums like these? What are your suggestions for places to start? Any insight is appreciated, we agree that more visibility is key as we keep making improvements to v. 1.0 leading up to 2.0 in just a few months!
