1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Zcoin (XZC) - Implementing Zerocoin technology for financial privacy on: July 09, 2017, 09:32:02 AM
I hate to be "that guy" - but a birdie told me Zerocoin is working on setting up a trust-less setup (possibly slated for this fall).  Can anyone confirm this?

I like ZCash except for this part.  I'm interested in the first coin to implement the Zerocoin technology that comes up with a way to do it without the trusted setup.

Also on a different note (did some digging and couldn't find the answer).  Is the current trusted setup for Zerocoin able to de-anonymize transactions or just create arbitrary inflation (like ZCash)?

Also - it looks like ZCash and ZCoin were both released in October.  And from what I understand both have bitcoins inflation schedule.  Can someone explain to me why ZCoin has 2,500,000 coins vs ZCash's 1,600,000?  30 days between releases should only result in 144,000ish coins shouldn't it?  (50 coins X 4 per hour (every 15) X 24 hours per day X 30 days = 144,000)

bitcoin block time is 10 minutes
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Drop of hashrate for Polaris cards incoming on: June 19, 2017, 04:59:30 PM
It`s the Rx 470,480,570,580 4GB GPU`S that will be affected not the 8GB versions.

Wrong, 8GB versions are affect all the same. Better start selling your AMD cards for max profit and switch over to Nvidia, which doesn't have any issue.

Check the top comment : https://www.reddit.com/r/EtherMining/comments/6i1ulz/incoming_hashrate_drop_for_rx_400_and_500_cards/

Wrong, both are affected but more so the 4gb polaris cards

be careful op, some extension cords are really really bad and thickness won't cut it
4  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The next step to impeach Trump. on: May 30, 2017, 11:03:08 PM
10 US cities have signed a petition to the Senate with the requirement to begin procedure of impeachment Trump. Of course the municipal authority has no authority for such a solution, but it may force legislators to consider it. Do you think the deck of cards Trump still trump?

Based on what?  Because someone wants it?

Well, I want "Les Baer 1911" for Christmas?  We all want something.

Let him do his job.  You elected him.

In less than 4 years, you'll have another chance to vote for someone else.

The Democrats are just cry babies, there is nothing wrong if Trump wants to be allies with the Russians,  there is no clause in the constitution that forbids it. So they better stop all these fake news and let him build his wall.

Democrats and their supporters started the cold war, both are ignorant enough to keep looking for more lines to step across etc.

8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 25, 2017, 09:41:41 PM
The future of Bitcoin is bright either way, BUcoin HF or not. I'm using every possibility to increase my Bitcoin stash, the cheaper the better!

Something strange is happening. Btc-e moved up to second place for USD volume, and it's price is $10 higher than bitfinex's, which is itself $10 higher than bitstamp's. Somebody's  increasing their Bitcoin stash on btc-e.

More likely it's just not being used to increase the increasing artificial short float
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which Graphic Card on: March 01, 2017, 06:59:31 AM
I think power delivery issues are more common in the 470 but I dont know for sure. I would get the 480.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8 gpu rig! on: February 25, 2017, 10:03:05 PM
I once tried 6 x 7990s, but it wouldn't work with more than 8 GPUs in Windows, so i gave up trying Smiley

I'm surprised you can still mine with your 7990s.. all of mine died after 1 year of mining.  7990s are terrible for mining unless you have them water-cooled.

I have 2 7990 which ran between 80°C - 90°C with stock fans and now run at 56°C - 75°C with 2 x 140mm yate loon fans zip tied to the card mining Equihash.

The stock fans are useless for mining - I hit over 100°C when the card's airflow was restricted i.e. in a case.

Only way is a higher static pressure and higher airflow solution

stock thermal paste on the 7990 is shit, replace it and the pads and they do fine

was waiting to do the same setup and then read this thread, 4 7990's on zcash pulling 1450w from the wall..mobo gigabyte z97.. thanks! wasnt sure if I had a mobo that would work.

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum Miner NO DevFee on: February 05, 2017, 08:35:46 PM
just curious, what is the motivation to do something like this? besides that, this probably will put your machine on a botnet  Undecided
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v8.0 on: December 03, 2016, 01:01:55 AM
It finally works here.. Speed is "ok" for RX 480's..

My Z170 only runs with 3 RX480s.. As soon as I put it int 4.th the board doesn't boot - it seems there is a conflict with the SATA port or so - no HD is recognized anymore. I already tried to disable the Internal GPU, HD Audio etc. everything in BIOS but it doesn't help.. Seems this shitty board can only run 3 cards at once.

did you update the bios? helps with some boards to get a 4th or 5th card working, what brand is it?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is anyone mining over satellite internet? on: December 01, 2016, 10:58:51 PM
Yes it is. On one rig i sometimes (few hours a day) experience over 1000ms ping and shares are still being accepted. Effective hashrate is a few % lower, but it works.

do you find blocks?

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v8.0 on: November 26, 2016, 01:04:07 AM
Just one card need monitor or dummy(hdmi->vha adapter as the card only have digital output)

you disabled problem is something of different problem

you may have to disable UPLS (low power mode that disables 2nd gpu when not in use), you can do so in MSI afterburner or amd options i think.  also disable crossfire.

I don't have the option for Crossfire, and "disable ULPS" is ticked in MSI AB.

It seems to be mining, but very slowly.

Edit: Both rigs are running win 10 x64, Crimson 16.6. I'll try installing 16.9.2.

Edit #2: Updating drivers didn't change anything.

You need to use DDU and install 15.12 or the newest drivers if you have 4 series cards, be careful though sometimes using DDU before installing the newest drivers can cause small issues with card performance on old gen cards.

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v5.0 on: November 14, 2016, 01:07:54 PM
Not just Nvidia, but there is also the fact that the majority of the hashrate comes from private farms which are going to be developing their own miners in house. Although they may be able to take some optimizations from the new miners possibly.
