Cryptocurrency adoption and support are climbing every day. I think we'll start to see more activism and other efforts to secure political support for cryptocurrency in 2018.
The Dec 2017 "bubble" was nothing compared to what we'll see play out over the next few years. The real cryptocurrency bubble will likely be the greatest bubble and wealth transfer of all time. Monero is well positioned to benefit.

People are getting too emotional about scam/hype coins "overtaking" Monero. Marketcap is easily game-able and will eventually become meaningless. Those hype coins will be forgotten in a few weeks or months. Monero, on the other hand, will stand the test of time. Building for the long term always entails short term sacrifices.

Bitcoin = Microsoft , Monero = Amazon. Most others = pets.com. We will prevail.

Yep, I'm just being very conservative. I think a near term price of multiple thousands would require some significant improvements in usability and privacy, however. Beyond just the space savings of bullet proofs, Monero transactions need a larger anonymity set. I don't think that the current ringsizes are sufficient for truly inscrutable privacy.
I haven't heard much about RuffCT/RingCT2.0, or whatever it's called now. If I remember correctly, using the entire blockchain as an anonymity set was mentioned at one point. Any news in this area?

Monero still underpriced. I'm not totally certain that it will exceed Ethereum by market cap, but certainly Monero deserves to be above things like Ripple and Bcash. Given that Ethereum is over $65B, Bcash and Ripple are each around $30B, I see a $50B market cap for Monero as totally realistic. Ledger wallet, multisig and bulletproofs are all yet to be priced in, so $1000+ before October 2018 is quite likely, in my opinion.

People who claim Monero takes days to sync must be using a 2006 laptop with dial up internet. On a modern computer with an SSD, quad core processor, and decent internet (25 mbps+), a full sync should take 6 hours at the very most. A PC with a high end processor (AMD Epyc or Intel with 12 or more cores) and fiber connection will have it done in a couple of hours. Sorry, but Monero is cutting edge software, and you need modern hardware if you want to have a good experience.

Bitcoin Cash = fool's gold.

Well, the trolls certainly got a reaction! Far better trolling than what we've been seeing lately, I give it a 6.5/10.

Bad times for altcoins. I'd be surprised if we didn't see sub .01 within the next 2-3 weeks.

Looks like I was right with the sub .015 prediction I made a couple of weeks ago. Hard to call a bottom here, as Bitcoin has the potential to continue its bull run. If Bitcoin hits $7500, I don't see how Monero will be able to stay above the previous bottom of ~.011. Don't see Monero's next bull run happening until March/April of 2018 at the earliest. The DNMs are too broken up and disorganized for a strong Monero economy to form at the moment. For now, it's a waiting game.
On the upside, this will give the Monero team some more time for improving the user experience. It's still difficult to use, compared to many other cryptocurrencies. Observe the high number of support requests in the Monero Reddit for confirmation of this. Hopefully this can be resolved with enough development work. Hardware wallets, multisig, and improved ease of use should set things up for an insane bull run, as the market realizes that Monero is the only no-nonsense digital cash.

Well that escalated quickly. Pretty confident we'll see sub .015 before this is over. Still feeling very bullish long term. Spring of 2018 should bring new USD highs.

Dash is a complete scamcoin. Their technology sucks, the founder instamined a huge amount of coins, it's basically a cult at this point. Dash is a catastrophe waiting to happen.

Zcash FUD against Monero will ramp up over the next several weeks. I'm targeting somewhere between .014-.016 as a bottom.

Anyone here who has any idea what the xmr price is doing?
It kinda looks bullish and bearish all at once.
I'm guessing it will continue consolidating downwards until the next big catalyst leads to new all time highs. Community growth and new developments in mobile wallets, hardware wallets and tech (RuffCT) have me feeling very bullish long term.

Zcash was garbage in 2016, still garbage in 2017. Good luck overcoming Monero's network effect. If in doubt, compare Zcash's subreddit to Monero's. Monero has about 5x more subscribers, and is more than 5 times as active as the Zcash subreddit. In other words, Zcash is astroturf nonsense, no real world use or organic interest to speak of.
Go to DNM communities and see which coins are being mentioned. Spoiler: Bitcoin and Monero. Anything else is treated like pump and dump garbage, which is what Zcash is. A scheme to enrich Zooko and company. It'll go to zero once Ethereum adds zk-snarks.

Lol @ the people who got taken in by this Chinese shitcoin.
|
|
|
Thanks for the cheap coins, ya weak handed dimwits!
|
|

There had to be a correction. The China and Dimon nonsense happens to be the justification that people assign to the correction. If not for this, there would have been some other justification. Weak hands are cleared out, intelligent traders increase their positions. Rinse and repeat.

The people who predict an 80% correction are funny. You can't take something that happened in the past, and say "see, it'll happen again!". The public's awareness of cryptocurrency is 50 times higher than what it was back then. Corrections will not be as deep as they were in the past, simply because there are many waiting on the sidelines to buy in. And when they fail to get their target buy points, the price will move up to new highs on FOMO.
As an interesting side note, I follow some non-crypto trading communities, and the number of never crypto types who are changing their minds is growing by the day. It's incredible to observe.
