If anyone can help us by trying this out it would be great - Comment if it has worked well for you, or suggestions on making it better. And of course if you have some spare change and find this useful please donate. Changes in v1.20: - Allows for tracking coins not listed on supported exchanges. Use the /LTC or /BTC entries and manually update the 'last price' column. - Allows for the addition of exchanges that use a fairly standard API without requiring the release of a new spreadsheet version. You can get the latest version http://cryptocoinapps.blogspot.ca/p/crypto-coin-counter.html

Cryto Coin Counter 1.12 released
Changes in 1.12: - Better handling of API errors when getting latest prices, including retries on 502 errors. (I'm looking at you Crytpsy.) - Other optimizations to the API code.
Plans for the next version: - Allow for tracking coins not listed on supported exchanges. (Already working in the development version.) - Allow for addition of exchanges that use a fairly standard API without requiring the release of a new spreadsheet version.
Wish list for future versions: - Automatically load balances from exchanges with compatible APIs. - Automatically load balances from mining pools with compatible APIs. (Most are not compatible, so this is a lower priority) - Allow selection of which exchanges/coins to include in the pick lists.

Crypto Coin Counter is a free Google Spreadsheet designed to track the approximate value of your Crypto Coins, including BitCoin (BTC), LiteCoin (LTC), and other coins offered by the supported exchanges. It shows you the estimated net worth of each coin tracked in BTC and USD, and shows the estimated total value of your coins in either LTC or BTC, and in a supported currency of your choice. All estimates are based on the latest price at your chosen exchange, or the latest currency conversion rates from Google Finance. http://cryptocoinapps.blogspot.ca/A friend of mine built it more for our own use but we decided to share it with everyone, Any donations would be appreciated if you find it of some value. Thanks

i am trying to convince my father that he should buy and hold a few of these and just play but he keeps hearing news about the pump and dump scams and believes that too few people can manipulate the market. Does anyone think that this will be become less of an issue with more people buying up coins to hold?

It will reach it if rich people keep putting lots of cash in - of course the problem is that they do not spend it either (long term investments) - which will defeat the use of bitcoin as a currency.
Bitcoin needs to be accepted by more retailers to make people spend the money and I think things will get better.
