1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you trust bitcoin holders? on: May 25, 2024, 10:56:47 PM
NOPE.  This is the number one problem that I have with bitcoin, is that I simply do not trust others.  I guess you could say the same thing for anything in life, but the only fear I have with bitcoin succeeding is not trusting others to understand bitcoin.  Most just buy and hold bitcoin in order to "profit".  Every time I read "profit" on here I want to puke.  That's not what bitcoin is all about.  I wish more people would study it and actually educate themselves.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best Crypto Wallet on: May 25, 2024, 10:54:42 PM
I am shocked at the amount of false information and ignorance going around in this thread.  Lets start for the worst place to hold your coins...exchanges.  Then the second worse, hot wallets (mycelium, wasabi, coinomi etc).  Then you've got hardware wallets which I highly suggest Trezor wallets.  Some I know like BitBox, Cold Coin, and others ( I DO NOT recommend Ledger, they are garbage wallets).  Then the ultimate form of cold storage is either air gapped PC wallets or paper wallets.  These last two can be difficult to make and are not recommended for the masses.
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it proper for younger ones to gamble? on: May 25, 2024, 10:49:16 PM
Because nowadays the younger ones take gambling more seriously then school. Yesterday i got back home early so I decided to step out and go to a betting shop to catch some fun while gambling, I saw two teenagers gambling with their school uniforms on them.

I asked someone besides me why did they allow this boy's to come in with their uniforms and gamble, he said did they put any restrictions that younger ones are not allowed to gamble. I said but it's not normal, I replied him what if this are your kids would you be happy seeing them gambling with their uniforms on them. So what do you guys think about this situation at hand now.

"Because nowadays the younger ones take gambling more seriously then school".  This is just a ridiculous statement that is pure conjecture.  Where did you get this from?  What facts do you have backing this up?  This is simply in no way shape or form the truth.  Maybe for a small percentage of students, but I'm amazed when people say such foolish things as if it were fact.  SMH.

You're whole statement makes little to non sense.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never borrow money to be able to gamble on: May 25, 2024, 10:46:06 PM
This topic would fit in the same realm of placing stock/equity trades on margin.  One of the most important lessons I teach my clients as a financial advisor is to never get in over their heads. Borrowing money / betting on margin is a dangerous and slippery slope, and one where there's no guarantee on the other end of things.  Bet smart and responsible.  There's no such thing as a guarantee.
5  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When you are confident with your picks, do you win most of the time? on: May 25, 2024, 10:43:38 PM
Honestly when it comes to gambling for me, or being cocky just in general, when I'm overly confident I tend to always lose. Whether I'm gambling or just talking smack to a friend about a game or whatever.  It's very strange but when I'm overly confident I tend to lose.  So when I place bets, I always go in with the attitude that I'm going to lose.  I know it's total nonsense and all in my head, but things work out better this way. lol.
6  Economy / Economics / Re: Money addiction on: May 24, 2024, 10:35:31 PM
This is simply not true, and really just a bunch of conjecture.  I mean where did you even get this number from? Being a financial advisor and working with all walks of life, I can promise you that 9 out of 10 people are NOT obsessed with money.  I would say it's not even close to that.  Maybe somewhere around 4 out of every 10, if that.

Really though, where did you get this number from.  What makes you think this??
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Allow Non-investors to discourage you in your Bitcoin journey...? on: May 24, 2024, 10:33:26 PM
"Achieve" success.  You probably need to be able to spell it properly before it comes to fruition Smiley   Just messing with ya/giving you a hard time.  That said..my father started teaching me about the stock market from very early on.  Likely around 11-12 years old.  His overall words of advice were to save a certain percentage of your money and to do things like cut coupons, pick up tails facing up pennies on the ground etc.

I have no doubt that if he were still around that he would have been a bitcoin supporter.  I wish he was so that we could discuss it together.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Stop gambling if you don’t have free time to do it on: May 24, 2024, 10:33:20 PM
I agree with you to a certain extent.  I think it all depends on how much gambling you're doing, and what type of gambling you're doing.  Personally, it sounds like you shouldn't be gambling at all, I mean gambling every single day..do you not have a gambling addiction?  Just seems kind of crazy to me.

I will place sports bets /gamble here and there when I "don't have much time", so I think that is a bit different.
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: May 24, 2024, 10:29:49 PM
Does it by chance include RedZone?

Yes, it does! RedZone is always an option during the regular season.

Does it use any IP or GPS location tracking (if so guessing a VPN can be used, or prob is required regardless)?

For most games they have 2 options: those with an IP inside the US and those outside the US.

Btw hows the picture quality?

Its great! It was good even for the one Thursday night game on... what was it... Peacock? that had all the streaming issues. It was fine.

Wait so it's $40 all in for the whole season?  That's insane given cable and the football package.

Yep, including playoffs and Super Bowl. With any luck it will still be around by mid August.

Well damn that's a pretty good deal all around.  I would absolutely be all over it if it made sense for me economically wise.  Like I mentioned I have to have a "full on tv service" of some sort, like YouTube TV, and that includes all Chicago Bears games and I think I pay about $10/mo for RedZone ( or some sort of sports package that includes it) otherwise I'd be all over this.

Does this service have anything else, like TV channel wise..possibly a way to get rid of YT TV for me?

10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the limits and common sense of bet? on: May 24, 2024, 10:27:21 PM
Lol I think you're taking this type of bet a little too seriously.  I think we've all made all sorts of crazy nonsensical bets over the course of our lifetimes, I sure know I have.  At this point in time, one of my friends always jokes that he owes me an entire cow because we've bet so many steak dinners that he's lost, and that I've never collected on ( I'm a vegetarian now so there's no way I'm ever going to see a payout of those bets lol).
11  Economy / Economics / Re: Work From Home or The "Laptop Class" is Immoral or Not? on: May 23, 2024, 10:26:46 PM
I haven't watched the video yet, but will here soon.  This, at face value, sounds like some of the dumbest shit I've ever heard.  Personally for me working from home (which I do) has so many positives that out weigh the traditional working in the office type of work.  How on earth could this be a moral issue?  I think Elon is a fool personally who runs his mouth far too often just to hear himself speak.
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The difference between gamblers and real Bitcoin investors? on: May 23, 2024, 10:23:29 PM
I would consider a "real bitcoin investor" someone like myself.  Someone who spent an entire year studying bitcoin before ever even buying a single satsohi.  I wanted to make sure that I fully understood bitcoin, the blockchain and how everything works.  The majority of people I know, have absolutely no idea about how bitcoin works.  They couldn't even tell you what the blockchain is.  Very annoying.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈 The United Football League (UFL) 2024 Thread 🏈 on: May 23, 2024, 10:20:06 PM
I hope the UFL comes back but the higher ups really need to make some changes when it comes to its schedule, even for highly motivated fans like us, it is very difficult to watch the games, the NFL can get away with their fans requiring several subscriptions to watch the games because it is the NFL, but the UFL cannot do this, also it is ridiculous how the UFL is incapable to repeat the same schedule from one week to the next, which has made me to miss many games, and so far with the season already ending I have been only able to watch three of them.

Agreed... I haven't been able to watch any games live at all. But they do upload the full games to YouTube sometimes. The other thing that makes it subpar compared to NFL for me is the lack of name recognition... I don't know any of these dudes, at all. They need to bring in failed NFL coulda-beens to spice things up, even as a marketing gimmick. Such as Tim Tebow and Johnny Manziel, who is actually playing in the Canadian Football League (they probably pay better is why).

I couldn't agree more.  I have watched a couple of these games so far, and continue to find the games quite boring.  I've given it an honest to goodness chance.  I literally went though every teams roster and scrolled up and down this hoping to find at least someone who was an x NFL football player or even an x stud college player.  I didn't recognize one singe name.  I am a nut about NFL football, college I loosely watch but I would still think there had to be someone I'd recognize, nope.

Is the CFL still a thing?
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino Gambling vs Sport Betting, Lets Discuss on: May 23, 2024, 10:15:43 PM
I have done a lot of both, sports betting and online betting.  Of course really the main difference is in betting on something that is live, that involves humans playing against each other in a game of sports.  I'm not really sure what the discussion is about here, but personally I really enjoy sports betting more than anything.  It's one of the few gambling "games" that I feel like I have more gambling control over since I'm so heavily involved watching these games.
15  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe in match fixing? on: May 23, 2024, 10:11:29 PM
There's nothing to believe or not believe in really when it comes to "match fixing".  It's been a proven thing that certain matches of different sports have been "fixed".  Just take a look at some of the most historical match fixes throughout history, it would be insane to think otherwise.

Personally the best example in my opinion right now of this would be the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul matchup.  Lot of speculation it's a fixed match, and I agree.
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 U.S. Presidential Election Bets! on: May 20, 2024, 04:35:07 AM
Man that’s a sorry list of human beings for the most part.  You are correct OP that by the law of averages, both candidates are well over the age of male deaths in the United States, which for the first time in many years has actually gone down, instead of up. I despise them both, and both clearly are in the stages of cognitive decline. In 2016 I was sure Hilary was going to win. I voted off ballot but laid a bet on her. I obviously lost that bet. Honestly the odds are about 50/50. The electoral college helps that be the case. Sadly.

Long story short, laying no bets , at least as of right now.
17  Other / Meta / Re: A concise 2FA/TOTP implementation (SMF patch) on: May 19, 2024, 02:15:05 PM
PG- apologies if this has been covered.. 1) does turning on 2FA supersede the Security Question and disable it from being able to be deleted ?  2) jw ..how difficult/expensive would it be to implement/allow for 2FA via hardware authenticators here be, if even possible  ?

Cheers Smiley
18  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: May 19, 2024, 12:57:33 PM
And this makes me to come to a hypothetical conclusion that in gambling each and every person is individually destiny to within the range of certain amount of win. And that if you are not destined to win the high amount you are after, you will never be able to no matter how much you use or the strategy you apply to your bets.
I stumbled on this one yesterday and TBH, I'm not still able to comprehend the point proven.  Tongue I don't intend to break any existing protocols whatsoever. Been a while we had an update in here.

Simulation theory explained ..duh! lol.  Yeah I’ve had quite a few replies to posts of mine of late that gave me a brain aneurysm after just a few sentences. Will try to dig some up (right after I send that guy who posted here n Meta asking for 100k in btc , based in China. Not like btc is illegal there or his story isn’t believable. Can’t believe the post was taken down)
19  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [INFO/WARNING] New Lydian Coin on Powercoin.it on: May 19, 2024, 12:22:33 PM
Hi,
so alright, lets delve into this...

As for the price, I agree it seems steep, but that's pointless debate - you can try to sell for whatever price you want, I have no problem with that.

Now - what you are doing is selling a normal commemorative coin PLUS 0,0002 BTC. There is simply NO connection between those two.
Coin itself has no public address, no private key and as far as I can tell not even a serial number - bitcoin (in a form of CoA) and the coin are totally separated.

You can make a simple commemorative coin, there's nothing wrong with that.
OR you can make a so called "physical bitcoin" coin with visible public address (so you check if the coin is loaded) and hidden private key (or as in your case a seed phrase, why not, even though it's longer), so you have to visibly damage the coin to reveal it. In that way undamaged coin automatically guarantees ownership of bitcoin - that is the whole point of such coin.
(Please research Casascius or some other reputable maker for this.)
What you did is neither.

Plus your instructions for redeeming are very, very amateurish - and I don't mean "simplified for ordinary people", I mean amateurish and insecure.

One problem with physical bitcoin is that it requires trust (which kinda goes against the whole bitcoin ethos, but that's another debate) in the maker of such coin.
I have to trust not just you're not a scammer, but also that you know what you're doing.
I am not sure if you are scammers, but just after reading your instructions I AM sure you don't really know much not just about making physical bitcoin, but also about bitcoin in itself.

Please, either stick to making commemorative coins (as I stated originally, the design itself is quite alright) OR get someone knowledgeable, if you really want to do this.
If it helps, you're not alone, Mint21 tried with "Liberty" coin and they got a lot of flak here as well (and deservedly so):
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5405047.msg60501825
(But again, your case is still much, much worse.)

Hi,

We are Coint Co and we are happy to answer your questions!

Indeed, the information about Niue is wrong and we have asked power coin to remove it. We are a registered Brazilian company (as you might suspect for Renato's past work).

You can check the transactions from our bitcoin wallet to the addresses for each new lydian coin in here : https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/1CointCoXgzKSeCECFHoatVyJd6S6zgpkf
Currently there are 50 wallets loaded since we would like to keep track time in the blockchain as we sell the coins.

We also agree that the instructions to move those bitcoins might be challenging. We would love to use a qr code to read the private key from the certificate of authenticity, for example, but currently blockhain.com app doesn't allow that (we have informed them of the issue and they replied they'll be working on this). Also, if you have any suggestions on how to access the private key easily, we are happy to take into account.

We have used the word "password" on our marketing material since most of our customers are not familiar with public/private keys or dealing with bitcoin wallets.

Again, happy for your interest in our coin!

Regards,
Coint Co

This came up in a convo w a forum member so, why I’m back at this nonsense..

Not sure how I missed the rest of this convo. Here’s the truth, they are full of shit. Completely full of bs. Check out their blockchain link if it’s working, I think they got mad at me for going in and out so much (that’s not what she said?-Michael Scott) so I can’t anymore atm. Anyways there were just a few total transactions between I believe just two wallets, and very little left in this wallet they posted above. Shady much ? Nah they came back and addressed all concerns as they promised…wait.

I am of the opinion they are part of TopWorldCoins who makes those dumb fucking United Crypto States coins with values and redemption and all that , which makes no sense.  Sounds familiar ..the original Sol Noctis Bull coins (by TWC) do not just have a simple private key under the holo, but some weird cryptographic nonsense that several cryptographers here couldn’t even figure out how the redemption works.  Oh and those are the coins where one member here reported on the coins moving out and shortly after back in to the coin wallet/address and he never even peeled it. This was verified by an expert as well. TopWorld /United Crypto States unsurprisingly refused to address it..to say the least.

So what’s that all mean….they don’t want you to move the coins and have all gone to great/nonsensical lengths to try and dissuade you from doing so or simply not allowing you to do so at all.

It’s of my opinion that TWC/CointCo/PowerCoin are all very much connected ..and not just because they sell each others coins..though that’s part of it.

Most the coin designs are repeats or virtually stolen.

If I had a penny for those who claimed they did it first lol..

Writing sure looks familiarly ridiculous no- https://www.ucs-coins.com/

(Note I erroneously said Power Coin was behind the Sol Noctis Bull key issues but meant TWC. Regardless they are all full of shit and untrustworthy)
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: May 19, 2024, 07:27:54 AM
...
But yeah I just saw that Netflix partnership yesterday and thankfully have netflix, but it's a bit annonying how much football is starting to be played off basic cable.
Yeah same with baseball.  It's real annoying that you.have to have multiple subscriptions to watch one team.
...

They are definitely trying to milk us to death... but what are we gonna do, not watch football? No way. I'm gonna be renewing this service I used last season that was for a relatively reasonable price: $40 to watch any game, including preseason, playoffs and Super Bowl.

The best part about it is you can rewatch any old game, from any week, whenever you want. They also cut out all the commercials & downtime from those games, so instead of a game taking 3-4 hours, its only ~1.5 hours. Funny enough, the only method of payment they accept is BTC.

If you want to know more about it, shoot me a PM and I'll send you a invite link.

Does it by chance include RedZone?  Does it use any IP or GPS location tracking (if so guessing a VPN can be used, or prob is required regardless)?  Pretty sure I know what type of service you're talking about. I have to have a tv services for sports, CNBC investment news and umm..about it , 85 a month for YouTube TV.  Fuck google.  This also doesn't include any Chicago Cubs games which have Marquee network, their own like Wheelz yankees have as well as the Dodgers (pretty sure just those 3 teams, all teams would if they could, but baseball is no NFL in the States).

For me if the Bears are on I'm watching on YT TV and if not, RedZone..this is the way.

Btw hows the picture quality?  It's half ass on YT TV or any service for that matter, and high end TVs are almost worse (minus lag) I've got a very high end TV and it's just ehh.  "4k games" look sick, even though it's not real 4k, and only Fox Network has them during playoffs and then the SB has it.  4k on YT TV, which has extremely little content, $15 a month lol.

Besides thinking in college when I sold my books on amazon since they paid more than local book stores and thinking "this co just sells books, they are def going out of business before long" , "a la cart tv will be amazing" is prob my 2nd worst prediction ever lol.
