1  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bfxdata.com | Bitfinex Market (price and market depth) + Swap Charts on: July 21, 2015, 06:26:41 PM
So it's been a while, but I'm still having this problem... any time I leave bfxdata open for very long it eventually (sometimes actually quite quickly) locks up my browser for a moment before I'm asked to kill the script. When I do so it typically stays locked for another few seconds before asking me again to kill the script and then after that comes back to responding normally. If I then leave the page open the process repeats a few minutes later.

Slightly different error message though - "A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, open the script in the debugger, or let the script continue. Script: https://ajax.googleapis.com/aj…bs/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js:2 -- [Continue, Debug Script, Stop script]"
I'm having this issue too.  I've disabled all of my Chrome extensions to make sure nothing else was interfering, but you're not the only one having this problem.

Great article, just wondering how do the blades not short out in water ? as usually if you put anything electrical submerged in water it will just brake.

I take it these are special designed blades that work underwater ?
It's a non-conductive liquid (or, much less likely, distilled water which isn't conductive either but has a 100C boiling point which this liquid doesn't seem to have).

Greg,

You have both my respect and my endorsement for the way you have handled the BTCT shutdown. These events are precisely why I never chose to attempt to start my own fund, but your navigation of what could easily have been a complete disaster demonstrates the burgeoning potential for a responsible actor to diversify risk in the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Best wishes for future success.

Vycid
Yeah, basically this.  I don't understand how you are able to deal with the constant stream of BS, but you have done so masterfully thus far.  It's situations like this that make me that much more confident in leaving my investments in your hands.

This is the first time I've invested in a fund such as this, so I apologize if this is a stupid question - as the current investments have been made via semi-anonymous "user IDs" on BTCT, how will you know how to tie an investment to the same person on a new exchange?

lots of good advice
The problem is that I backup via iCloud and it had auto-backed up after the new version was installed, so it had already been overwritten at that point.  After I restored from iCloud - still nothing.

Oh well, live and learn.

This is why you always write down the private key portion of the authenticator token when signing up with each site.
Yup - I've definitely learned my lesson.

Great.  The new version of Google Authenticator wiped out all the old stored sites, so now I get to wait 30 days for BTCT to manually reset it.

Hopefully the value of my portfolio doesn't tank in the next month.

You have to understand that there is too much con-artists borrowing the identity of respectable persons to conduct scams. It's fine if you don't wish to provide your ID, but having a forum/exchange mod confirm it would be necessary.

Look at the "Moderator Votes" section at https://btct.co/security/BTC-GROWTH

Is the last tranch you posted that's 500k/500k the final one?
Based on the number of outstanding shares, there is one mostly sold tranche, another one posted that hasn't quite started selling yet, and there will be one more after that.

What kind of equipment do you plan on using?  It'll be pretty tough to make any kind of substantial return without either investing in a bitcoin-related security (e.g. ASICMINER.PT) or the purchase (and extremely extended waiting of delivery) of ASIC-power devices.
