Approved a few more things from the queue. We showed the escrows the 1.0 api which isn't intended for production. When 1.1 is ready proper documentation will be provided to everyone. When an update is ready I will tweet the details.

I've approved of some more content and I'll try to do this on a more regular basis so sorry about being slow with that as I have been focused on development. Since we switched to the new interface there is no moderator interface so until then it's only possible for me because of database access to approve things. At this point I'm not interested in bringing on any other developers as it is just more costly and not needed since I can do it myself. When there is something to show I will come and post an update till then be patient. If you need to reach me just send me a private message and I'll reply when I get a chance.

I've been saying this since we posted the news, the only that will change in terms of this project is the rate of development. Things might have to slow down a bit, but they will still get done the way I had planned for them to always get done. This month you can expect continued updates to the UI as we re-add features that were previously removed in preparation of recent changes, the advertising system I mentioned previously, subtitles and a wider array of support for meta data content.

I think some of you are finally starting to get it now that this project is still going forward as always intended.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🎥 PureVidz.net: Decentralized Streaming WebTorrents 🎥 VIDZ - Trading Now 🎥 on: February 06, 2017, 05:15:07 PM
Saying it again, but both me and the other developer have technical backgrounds and my updates coming in the following days will prove this.

While we tried to be as transparent as possible and we took the best measures we could to ensure that the project would progress with a consistent vision in mind.

The true resource that the Pure Vidz network has at this time is traffic, and in order to show the community how serious I am about this project and how much I care about this community I am taking a decision to help the community monetize on the traffic that Pure Vidz receives. In addition to the original whitepaper, there will be an additional Pure Vidz marketplace where bidders can bid on advertisement slots in VIDZ that will be shown to the users of the Pure Vidz network.

We'll release some metrics on traffic starting in a couple days in order to give the market an understanding of the potential revenue that could be earned and used towards burning coins.

Millions of people all over the world spend valuable time looking for their favorite movie or even a recently released movie on streaming sites. We offer some of the fastest streaming times in impeccable quality without being bombarded by intrusive and sometimes abusive ads. Pure Vidz advertisements will only accept user friendly ads that will be displayed in a light manner by not blocking the plane of view once the stream begins.

There were already plans mentioned to add subtitles and re-add for TV which will occur over the span of this month as well of other development.

While the community may suspect our intention one thing that no one can argue is that the traffic on our site will continue to increase as more and more people find out about it. The existing website itself is maintaining a high standard of operation then some other streaming sites.

I am busy at work; I will not stop until I reach my goals. We did a large UI update yesterday and I will continue to release more updates. There will be more information on the marketplace and its structure in the coming days. If websites such as coinmarketcap.com can maintain a solid ad marketplace, imagine the power of Pure Vidz.

Thank you for your trust.

Guys you don't need to freak out as much as you have. The project is still going forward and I am still continuing to work on it. If you had confidence in the project to succeed before you should still have confidence now the only thing that has changed is price because of the news and the number of developers. The change in price is obviously a result of being transparent about Asphyxiate leaving not how development has been going or will continue to progress.

This project will be fine gong forward and I will continue developing it to follow what we originally proposed in the OP but at the rate we are going the FUD is ruining both projects.

There isn't any reason to panic. Development will slow down with asphyxia leaving but we'll still keep going forward. I may look to bring on contractors in the future to compensate.

Hey guys, this is pretty damn important and might be confusing so don't skim.

For sake of simplicity, we will refer to my partner as "PV". Many of you know me as the one to give updates on bitcoin talk and the one who interacted directly with the escrows. Both PV and I are developers, we both use the Pure_Vidz account. He is aware that I am posting this and has already read the post ahead of time.

I mentioned before, there's been a lot in hurdles and to think about when defining the scope of this project. Pure Vidz started out with actually a very narrow scope. Briefly summarizing it was to create a super user friendly video index website for Web Torrents as no one had properly done this before and streaming itself was a huge market, this is PV's vision. The purpose of the site was to remodernize torrents to current era where everyone is use to simply logging onto Netflix to watch something as opposed to in the past when you had to actively seek out a torrent, make sure it wasn't something suspicious and then actually download the file before playing it... or stream it in some crap quality via flash.

As we continued to move forward and I saw the limitations with the Web Torrent technology, especially the bottle neck in terms of explaining to users how to submit content to the site, lack of seeders via Web Torrent, etc. I continued research in terms of IPFS eventually to a point where I felt comfortable advocating it become the primary content mechanism of Pure Vidz. We jumped the gun on this but we weren't really sure how IPFS would handle in a production environment.

It wasn't before long, that I started speculating on how far we could really push the limits of project through properly leveraging blockchain based technology and IPFS and if you go as far back enough, you'll see I've mentioned full decentralization was being considered...
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1696889.msg17627951#msg17627951

Unlike PV I feel we shot ourselves in foot with our early limited scope but we never imagined either how much support we would receive for our project. This has let to numerous disputes for a while now which we've peacefully resolved in way that we feel will best benefit the community.

Pure Vidz is being forked into 2 seperate projects. PV has stated he has no interest in revising the goals of the project where I feel like we're throwing away a huge opportunity by not doing this. We've come to the fair agreement I can keep a portion of the dev. fund as well as around half of the remaining btc funds in to pursue my project but this is where things get awkward. Essentially, we'll be competing against each other to some degree as there will be direct overlap. Neither of us retain full ownership of the private codebase, so we've decided we can both continue developing on it as we see fit.

On my project going forward, VIDZ will be swappable via a proof of burn to a temporary coin. All VIDZ that I hold will be burned as well. I say temporary because for my goals to be realized it requires specialized blockchain development. The EVM just isn't going to cut it, nor do I want to be attached to constant political drama of Ethereum. More importantly no existing blockchain can go about the direct integration I want with browsers. The temporary coin will eventually be 1:1 swapped to the entirely new blockchain being developed when its production ready.

Briefly summarizing some of my goals going forward that Pure Vidz doesn't currently address:
  • Full Decentralization → Legal Compliance
  • Open Source Transparency
  • Incentive to add content that doesn’t have a bounty
  • Continue to be rewarded for your content even after it's been added
  • Not only focused only on video based content

I'm not out to sell people hopium. I am a strong believer in presenting a tangible product early on which can use the temporary coin opposed to leaving investors in the dark where they can't actually feel or try what's being developed. There will very soon be an entire thread/post/document dedicated to defining the scope of what I hope to achieve and what is to come. Going forward, I will continue to use this account and have relinquished the Pure_Vidz account to PV's exclusive use going forward. It's very possible both projects could become prosperous in time.

Rather than ask questions here an go potentially far off topic, if you would like to speak directly Slack and Skype are a bit out dated - get modernized: https://discord.gg/PtXzUVr

Thanks for reading.

Confirming what's said above... this isn't the end of Pure_Vidz just asphyxia and I have different views on what Pure Vidz is suppose to be and accomplish. This will probably cause political drama but as far as I'm concerned for a typical user nothing has changed and as far as a holder of VIDZ is concerned, you either support asphyxia's vision of Pure Vidz or mine.

Regardless of how this plays out, I wish him good luck with his project. I will continue to develop Pure Vidz in my vision, and he will go his own way.

I would like someone to show me how they are streaming torrents? If you think your streaming from a torrent file your crazy. check there code

cars2

<video class="stream img-responsive" controls=""><source src="http://ipfs.purevidz.net:8080/ipfs/QmQw3o6U1EyJhowBEyM3vFRMCfnrfQ2YAioLniGw3bPEHf" type="video/mp4"></video>

you cant just toss a video src to a torrent stream does not work that way. and wheres the tor file its pulling from its clearly http and not magnet: file.

grab http://ipfs.purevidz.net:8080/ipfs/QmQw3o6U1EyJhowBEyM3vFRMCfnrfQ2YAioLniGw3bPEHf rename it .mp4 and its cars 2 or enter http://ipfs.purevidz.net:8080/ipfs/QmQw3o6U1EyJhowBEyM3vFRMCfnrfQ2YAioLniGw3bPEHf into vlc or windows media player as PLAY from NETWORK and video will play.

Last i knew you cant grab tor content without connecting to the tor network. So why use vpn? were never touching a tor seeder or streaming/downloading the from tor.

I'm guessing you weren't here early on in the start, so I'll just leave this as a point of reference as to how magnet links can be used and were being used... http://webtorrent.io

For the time being we've shifted primarily towards content delivery through ipfs but both are supported.

Thanks for the fast turnover Dev's. Appreciate the effort, didn't expect this much progress until the 15th or so

Despite a lot going on we managed to plow out a lot of work in the last few days. I'm fairly certain I've said this before but to clarify there is more than one person using the Pure_Vidz account.

We still have a long way to go, as to why I added the joke about butchering Dynamic's design. He actually had quite a bit that's currently not showcased on what we published because our service and data layers simply aren't at the point where we're ready to easily implement and integrate that stuff, but that will be worked on over this month.

Thanks for the continued support!

Hey guys look at the new upload section, IPFS Hash uploads now.... no longer torrent upload

To reitterate we didn't drop support for torrents it's just simply not a part of the current UI (just as we temp. removed TV). It'll return as we continue to do work this month on revamping the UI and data/service layers of the project.

You can actually still submit a torrent by instead passing the magnet link where it askes for the ipfs hash, but a lot of this will be changed in the upcoming future.

Hey,

Soon we'll be making a UI update as well as releasing documentation for the 1.0 api. There's a few things to keep in mind with this release. We're still working on integrating the UI. It's at a usable point now, but there's much we've removed from the design as we currently don't track that data internally (ie. staring actors of a film) and much to still be re-added such as TV.

We're going to continue working on the UI going forward and over all you should see some noticeable improvements this month as we're much further ahead of schedule then we currently planned to be.

The 1.0 api should be seen as a 'beta' api. We encourage 3rd party developers to try it out as it offers a light peak into what's currently already possible in the system but would hold off on making any tools to release publicly until the 1.1 release.

For some more technical thing the update being released is still built on the legacy code of Pure Vidz, our next steps going forward require drastic changes service and data layer of how the project is structured. Once this update has been released, we'll be requesting the remainder of funds (~20 btc) from the escrows and continuing to work forward on refining the platform.

If you recall in my last post, I mentioned something about possible changes to the scope of the project. We'll be looking to put out an update on this fairly soon which will clarify a lot going forward.

I'd modestly say, expect some big things for February.
Thanks.

^

It's still being worked on, but all the key features as before the update should still be there.

We have said before that we will reach out to Bittrex once the update we've been working on is ready. Given their policies though on identity verification, I wouldn't be too optimistic but you can still hope for the best.

Thanks for your patience Smiley

Currently, we're hard at work at integrating the new UI as well as preparing a release of a public api. To clarify, while the api 1.0 release will assist any 3rd party developer with automating adding content it by no means will be as robustly powerful as we want it to be and this will be addressed in revisions going forward.

We've received a lot of support from the community in the last few weeks and it looks like we've grown a lot so I'm going to reiterate over a few points:

The project still supports web torrents, but has shifted towards IPFS as a primary means of content delivery.

We'll release a comprehensive guide on adding content after the new UI.

We're internally discussing the scope of the project. To briefly elaborate on this while the goals of the project initially set are admirable and ambitious we may have been a bit short sighted in terms of defining the scope of what Pure Vidz hopes to achieve. I'll discuss more on this when more concrete decisions have been made. Given the way the project is currently set up, for Bittrex and matters pertaining to identity verification, as someone else pointed out it should be obvious we will not dox ourselves and put ourselves in a position where Bittrex or any other exchange can be subpoenaed for that information.

Please note that even after the UI is updated in a few days and the new one is usable there will still be much to add to it and change going forward so we thank you for your patience.

I am curious if the white paper explanation completely encompasses how you foresee the coin being integrated with the website?

Will aim to discuss this more in the future, but can't at this time. See the section I bolded.

We're not abandoning web torrent technology, so no it's never be entirely IPFS. The issue with web torrents is they're not quite up to par where we need them for a production environment. From our testing with IPFS, there are certain changes that need to be made in how our systems work but it's holding up quite well.

We have already handled, processed and issued Twitter bounties to those who registered.

We issued 4k to those who registered and passed the audit which was the full maximum amount they could be paid. This amount was issued even if they had not retweeted or actually made enough tweets themselves to have earned the 4k, we thought this was a nice bonus for some people.

Registrations were left open for a timely period and people were notified many days in advance of when registrations would be starting. We posted this several times, but of course there's always going to be people who show up and act as if they never knew what was going on and shift the responsibility. We might aim to do another Twitter campaign in the future and if we do we'll do our best to make sure it's better organized next time around.

On the other hand, if you did register within the allotted time but for whatever reason didn't receive your VIDZ please contact me directly with a PM as it's always possible something was over looked.

Thanks.

There is streaming service which can put a comment in movie by a Japanese site.
People can share thoughts and impressions in a LIVE sense, beyond time and place.
http://himado.in/345651
http://himado.in/367741

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/himado.in

This is similar another site. But this site is a very big site.
http://www.nicovideo.jp/

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/nicovideo.jp

Live comment function can be ON or OFF.
Can Dev not add this function to premium service?
Or the user uses VIDZ of a small amount to put a comment in.

This may be useful for Purevidz. Smiley
We have to consider the mechanism that the user uses more Vidz in the site.
We create more fun and new experiences. Cheesy

Donation functionality to the person who submitted the file
Donation button to the person who reviewed a movie
(Thanx button etc)

I actually never knew Nico Nico Douga had that functionality, but that's probably because I never used it much other than for vocaloids. I was aware of other sites like https://www.viki.com/ using timed comments and I can say honestly, it adds a whole lot to the experience. Quite often I found myself more focused on the live comments laughing than the actual subtitles of whatever it was being watched.

Briefly answering the question of is it possible? Yes, it quite likely is but then of course it needs to be also said it's not a huge priority right now but definitely a very cool idea/feature to have in the future!
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🎥 PureVidz.net: Decentralized Streaming WebTorrents 🎥 VIDZ - Trading Now 🎥 on: February 02, 2017, 03:17:06 PM
Hey @devs, any possibilty you can duplicate this site for a .onion site. This way people can view it securely through a TOR browser ?

Tor anonymizes network activity, making it harder for a snooper to see where packets are coming from or going
Combined with VPN securing and encrypting traffic this would make people feel safer using the site

Using onion routing would be awesome
garlic even more so

It's mentioned in the OP that we're aware of this and will (possibly) be done later but it's not a huge priority to us right now. Currently, we're focused on integrating the new UI as well as developing/documenting a public api which will allow people to automate uploading if they have some scripting knowledge Smiley

Our current estimates lead us to believe these changes will be pushed to live some time around mid February.

Fantastic, very much appreciated bro, and nice job so far. My girl and I have been watching movies non-stop.

You shoukld better Fuck your girlfriend and not watch movies... elsewhere your neighboor do it for u

well, it seems that you speak from experience Weilichesbin......... Grin

offcourse... i do the same with my neighboor... he is at work and i fuck his girlfriend... 3 times a week  Cheesy Wink

Moderators can you end this behaviour?

This is the worst spamming I have ever seen for a "moderated" "serious" coin thread...
The Devs obviously do not care... even though they've done just about everything else right.

It makes me very nervous about the entire project.

It's not that we don't care it's that we'd like to try avoid deleting things if possible. Occasionally, he does get out of hand we do clean up a few of the posts like we did above.
