6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: would these graphics cards be good for mining litecoins? on: April 03, 2013, 06:45:01 PM
i understand they are not exactly new cards, but i can get two of these for about half of what i would have to pay for one 7970, so if u say that these will perform allright, then it would be foolish to not buy them i guess.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / would these graphics cards be good for mining litecoins? on: April 03, 2013, 06:21:07 PM
hello everyone, i have found a good deal on two of these graphics cards.
http://www.amd.com/US/PRODUCTS/DESKTOP/GRAPHICS/ATI-RADEON-HD-5000/HD-5870-EYEFINITY-6-EDITION/Pages/overview.aspx

i see that on the hardware comparison site that the 5870 is indeed okay when it comes to litecoin mining, but does that also go for this "eyefinity-6-edition" i dont really know what the difference is from this and a reference 5870, so if anyone could explain that and tell me if this would do about as much as a stock 5870 (3-400 kh/s)

thanks for the reply, i took a look at that website, and wow those people are making serious money.

whats the effective way of doing this? 3-way crossfire computers ? whats your setup if you want to share it ?

i think i might just build me some more computers Smiley

EDIT: oh and if anyone knows, what kinda numbers could i get from this card http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/ati-radeon-hd-5000/hd-5870-eyefinity-6-edition/pages/overview.aspx

i can get two of those for about 300$, but i havent been able to find anything on that specific card so, im not sure whether i should buy them, as they will be for mining only.
9  Other / Beginners & Help / litecoin mining questions from a beginner. on: April 03, 2013, 04:14:27 PM
Hello everyone. i have a question i cant seem to make sense of. i have just started mining and its going well at about 550 kh/s, so thats great.
but then i look at the statistics of the top litecoin miners at my pools website. and the numbers are just insane. from 8952 kh/s at nr. 20 too 64473.4 kh/s at nr. 1
what kind of hardware will get those numbers? i have a feeling its more about quantity then anything else here, so what ? do they have like entire rooms filled with computers just mining?
as i had understood it, things like those asic machines wouldnt work on litecoin? or am i mistaken?
