1  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Sweep not working (p2wpkh-p2sh prefix) (SOLVED) on: June 06, 2022, 06:59:35 PM
Well it seems that either the factory reset or something has solved the problem. Armory seems to be functioning again.

I will try to do a factory reset of Armory and perhaps that will solve the problem.

Kind of a mute point now, but that's an interesting error you were getting.  You mentioned the version of Electrum you are using, are you using the latest release of Armory?  I haven't used Armory wallet in quite some time, and don't plan to but I would be interested to know if you are able to figure this out.

Kudos to our resident fixer, o_e_l_e_o for figuring it out.

I'm running Armory Version 0.96-beta

I haven't tried to see if I still get the error after doing a factory reset. However, I did need to do a few more database rescans before the transactions showed up properly in Armory (which they do now). Have not tried to do another transaction afterwards. I will do that later to see if the error remains.

Try removing the spaces and line breaks.

Awesome, that seems to have done the trick! Well at least I now have a way again to send transactions using armory even if it's a bit of a convoluted one! Smiley
Really appreciate it.

I got curious, and followed your transaction upchain a bit: you may own some money in Forkcoins. Don't do anything with them before getting all your Bitcoins out.

Thanks! Yes I'm aware I still have some fork money laying around at places. Eventually will have to go pick all that up.
4  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Sweep not working (p2wpkh-p2sh prefix) on: June 06, 2022, 01:15:42 PM
So looking at the transaction details Armory has given you, the fee you have paid is certainly high enough, so that's not the issue. Your input hasn't already been spent, and no problems with LockTime.

The script Armory has shown there looks incomplete to me. 0x47 at the start means push 71 bytes, but then it only displays 31 bytes. The string "3044" which follows indicates that it is pushing a signature of 68 bytes, and "0220" after that indicates the R value is 32 bytes. But then it only displays 27 bytes of the R value, and doesn't display the S value at all. Not sure if this is where the problem lies or it is just the way Armory has displayed things.

The bit where you say "'bunch of numbers" I suspect is the raw transaction hex. It should start with "0100000001ec016e" and end in "62de0a00" based on what you've copied above. Try copying that in to a transaction broadcaster such as this one: https://mempool.space/tx/push

If it broadcasts, great. If it doesn't, then you know it's a problem with how Armory is signing that transaction

When I tried to push on that website it gives the following error:
https://i.imgur.com/21AKwmp.png
It does indeed start with "0100000001ec016e"

So somewhere the TX decode fails it seems.

I will try to do a factory reset of Armory and perhaps that will solve the problem.

Hmm well that is unfortunate.

I am a bit hesitant to share the entire log, because I don't really understand a lot of it and it's for a decent amount of money (at least for me) but here are some of the important parts of where it goes wrong:

The general setup of the system.

Edit: So in the armory client it says it's connected, however I did sweep another address earlier today and that has not been updated by the armory client/wallet despite me rebuilding + rescanning the Armory database.

Thanks for the reply.
This is originally from an Armory wallet.

The public key X (BE) starts with a4cfb3e3
the public key Y (BE) starts with 7970a2cc
Sorry, my mistake - I meant what does the private key start with, but you've already answered that it starts with 5, meaning it is an uncompressed WIF and therefore cannot be used to recover a "3" address in Electrum.

In the key information there is the hex or base58 format (base58 starts with the 5, and that's the one I assume I have to use).

So, note that this script from armory - P2SH-P2PK - is not the same as "nested segwit" or the P2WPKH-P2SH script that Electrum uses. As far as I am aware, Armory is the only wallet which uses this script type. By far the easiest way to recover these coins is going to be to use Armory to send the coins over to your new Electrum wallet.

Have your tried what NeuroticFish posted? It is also a good idea, to just know the validity of your private key, or if you can run bitaddress html on an airgapped device and check the private key wallet details which would let you know if it is also a valid private key or not. But using Electrum would be good and you will not also be able to import it if the private key is invalid as the next button will grey out.
This is unnecessary. We already know the WIF is valid since OP can use it to recover an empty legacy address.

Thanks for your quick reply.
The main problem I have is that my armory refuses to send out any coins. Whenever I try to send any coins I get this error:
https://i.imgur.com/I3eUAVg.png

However, the transaction fee is most definitely high enough. (I put it at 120 sat/B and then later even at 200 sat/B to make sure that wasn't the problem). (I have completely rebuild and rescanned armory a few times, which in the past would sometimes solve this issue but now it hasn't.)

So I am unable to send these coins from my armory, which is what I initially tried to do (I guess I could go to the armory subsection but I thought there was no longer any support for it).

Because I'm unable to send any coins from Armory I was trying to just sweep it from those addresses into my electrum wallet, which works fine for some addresses but not for this one.

I would also be happy if there is a way to get Armory working again, but for the last few years it's not been easy to work with and keeps giving me errors.
7  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Sweep not working (p2wpkh-p2sh prefix) on: June 06, 2022, 10:06:44 AM
Sounds like you might have the wrong type of private key. Uncompressed WIF keys, which start with a 5, are generally only used to generate P2PKH (legacy) addresses. Compressed WIF keys, which start with a K or L, are used to generate any of three address types in Electrum. If you put the P2WPKH-P2SH: prefix in front of an uncompressed WIF key, it won't let you proceed, as you have just experienced.

What does the public key for your "3" address start with? Which wallet software did this private key/address originally come from?

Thanks for the reply.

8  Bitcoin / Electrum / Sweep not working (p2wpkh-p2sh prefix) (SOLVED) on: June 06, 2022, 09:33:36 AM
I'm trying to sweep some funds from an old wallet.
I'm using the latest version of Electrum 4.2.2
I have successfully sweeped them from the P2PKH address of the wallet however one of my change addresses (starts with 3) I can't manage to sweep it. If I try to just sweep it then it will give the no inputs error.

If I try to put the prefix in front of it (p2wpkh-p2sh:) (or any variations with this) the sweep button stays greyed out. If I remove the prefix it will let me sweep (but gives no inputs), I tried the other prefixes as well but no success.

Any idea how I can sweep this change address?

this is the raw transaction ID

Hmm, my transaction ID is far longer than your sample

https://i.imgur.com/nVKuZzu.png (it's like 3 times as long as shown here, don't know exactly what these values mean/are so a bit hesitant to post them on the forum completely).

11  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Sweeping from armory address failing on: November 26, 2016, 06:07:28 PM
hmmm what do you mean exactly?
I just copied the PrivBase58 key from that address from the armory wallet and entered that here to sweep:
https://i.imgur.com/SVNUGvJ.png

do you mean that thing that starts with 0100000001d5fdcc....etc ?

But if it was a confirmed transaction shouldn't that show on blockchain.info that it was already being send somewhere else? (https://blockchain.info/address/14ZqL88Tq4XxdGmHQUeB8TP3biYQQZodo1)
12  Bitcoin / Electrum / Sweeping from armory address failing on: November 26, 2016, 05:22:05 PM
I'm trying to import btc from my armory wallet but I'm getting a bad-txns-inputs-spent error.
https://i.imgur.com/AlBGprE.png

I have no idea why it won't accept this, the coins are still in that address now but it refuses to import them.
Anybody know why?
