Cool thanks for the info.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Receiving Random Micro Payments in Blockchain Account? Hacking Attempt? on: February 13, 2014, 08:43:37 PM
Today I received 3 micro payments to my blockchain account.  All within a few hours.  Is this a hacking attempt?  If so what should I do?  They were all payments of .00000001.  I've never given out my address to anyone.

Also I only looked at the email alerts so far.
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Installing Multibit on Ubuntu (bootable USB)?? on: August 27, 2013, 01:46:40 AM
I've followed the instructions from the multibit website's help section and keep getting stuck when trying to make the installer executable.  I installed java no problem.

When I try the command "chmod +x multibit-0.5.12-linux.jar" it says:
"Cannot acces 'multibit-0-5-12-linux.jar' no such file or directory"

When I try "java -jar multibit-0.5.12-linux.jar" it says:
"Error: unable to access jar file multibit-0-5-12-linux.jar"

This is after downloading java from www.java.com and installing.

FYI I'm using Ubuntu v12.10 (32-bit)

What are you guys using for a bootable USB?  I want to use Ubuntu because I've heard its safer than windows but so far its a huge pain in the ass.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Problems Installing Multibit on Ubuntu? on: July 20, 2013, 07:19:38 PM
Has anyone had any trouble installing a multibit wallet on Ubuntu?  Maybe you can give me some tips on what to do.  I've already posted this in another section and got little help but still can't figure it out.  I'd like to get more eyes on this.

Here is my original post so you can see what I've already tried, but basically I've followed the instructions from the multibit website's help section and keep getting stuck when trying to make the installer executable.  I installed java no problem.

Did all that.  I copied and pasted the command straight off the website and looked it over.  I even tried switching out some hyphens, dots and spaces just for the hell of it.  I have no clue.

I followed the linux instructions to install multibit per the help section (https://multibit.org/help.html), but I got an error with this command:  "chmod +x multibit-0.5.12-linux.jar".

I had no problems installing java.

Need some kind of noobs video guide for this, I don't understand a word of it  Cry

I second that.  All this talk of live cd's, Ubuntu, Linux, windows is evil, etc is making no sense.  It seems that along with learning how to use bitcoins comes learning computer programming.

Thanks for the help.

Now that I've cooled off I may try to complete my 3 bitcoin transaction at another location.

"We were not able to create your account."

Well I've know about bitcoin since 2011 but only now really starting to gain confidence in it.  I guess I've been stuck on metals.  Now that I'm trying to get some bitcoins I'm finding it to be a really difficult and tedious process.  Especially since they are worth so much now.  I spent about 2 hours trying and failing to buy bitcoins through bitinstant.  When I finally realized I couldn't spend more than $500 my heart sank.  Then I go to CVS to buy my silly 3.xx bitcoins, go through this really odd process on a red phone only to have the cashier not be able to finalize the deal and hand me back my money.  I looked at him like, 'are you fucking kidding me'.

I want to buy between $5k and $10k worth of bitcoin, like yesterday.  Whats up?!
