1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX480 (Reference) 31+Mh, Custom Rom on: December 20, 2016, 01:58:57 PM
How do you check the exact version of your cards? This is only useful for reference right? I have some sapphire RX480 4GB and 8GB and was looking for some mod roms...

You can use GPUZ to do that.

I think thats for windows only.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Is bitmain´s 1600W PSU good for rigs? on: December 20, 2016, 01:31:18 PM
Is it good quality https://shop.bitmain.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020160905064759862LCcn24oJ0685 ? I´m thinking of making 4x gpu rigs because in europe PSU are more expensive than in US. Its like 130€ difference between a 750w one and 1300w (from 110 to 240€).

Anyone has experience with this PSU? And also, will they be able to lower the invoice to something like 25€ for avoiding customs?

Thanks for doing this tytanick, its very user friendly for newbies like me and looks like good for managing several rigs too.

As other users reported, it crashes for me with 1 RX480 and with 2. Tried without touching overclock the first hour but it crashed too. Used claymore 7.4 (recommended) and optiminer 1.1 for ZEC. Also tried dual mining ethereum + sia and crashes.

So, is this normal behaviour for this version of simplemining with this cards/setup?

I have a msi z97 gaming 3 mobo
            4GB ram
            cheap Intel celeron
            750w evga gold
2x sapphire RX480 8GB (one with usb powered riser version3)

How many tokens were finally created in ICO? I dont see Nexiums in coinmarketcap.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ICONOMI - Fund Management Platform on: December 20, 2016, 10:51:18 AM
So the price will grow up until the 28 december you think ?
Sorry for my bad english

Everything indicates it will rise until 29th even!!

Jokes aside,i would be careul. It is always risky to buy in the middle of some kind of pump. It is very early and ICO buyers are making good % already.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sapphire RX 480 4GB OC Ethereum Settings on: December 20, 2016, 09:22:30 AM
Which version do you have?  Memory manufacturer?
Sapphire Nitro RX 480 4GB versions:
11260-02-20G
11260-09-20G
11260-13-20G
...

Trying to get around learning about overclocking and this is the first time i hear about that kind of differences. I have a mix of RX470 4GB, RX480 4GB and RX480 nitro 8GB. How could i check the exact version for my cards? Also, i have only seen a thread here for RX480´s (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1584617.0) but it says its for the reference version. I need to know how to check this.

I tried a few roms (Anorak and Boysie´s) but havent seen improvement... I understand that after modding i have to leave the OC parameters in the .conf file as if it were stock once i have the rom flashed, right?

Also, i found about the concept of changing the strap values somewhere. Is that already modding with a HEX editor or can i do that with linux (or only windows with polaris bios or similar?)?

Hello people! Ive been out of cryptoland for a while and trying to catch up fast. While trying to discover new coins my gut says that this one could be sort of legit Smiley What makes waves better than NXT, XCP, etc..? I have limited technical knowledge and see this as similar to those, am i right?

Too much to get into, let just say waves is much better than both and it's at an ideal price atm for those who want to invest

...I don't think xcp even has its own blockchain.

The thing is that im only able to see the decentralized asset exchange that also NXT has. I see NXT hasnt growed and waves is at 22M$ valuation (higher vaporware status and marketcap than ethereum after 6 months). What was ICO price? Why should be this a good moment? I see 22M$ pretty high isnt it?

How does this coin work? I mean, it doesnt have wallet? How are dividends expected to be paid? Or is it everything going through ethereum wallet? Can only buy in liqui? And then... where do i withdrawal if no wallet?

Ethereum wallets can hold multiple kinds of tokens. So your one wallet address can receive all the different kinds of tokens based on Ethereum, including ICN or just plain old Ether.

Thank you, i understand that. I guess similar as xcp with its various tokens. I guessed i was confused some way...

Consider this my good deed for the day.

ICONOMI is an ether based token.

As such, you can use an ETH wallet such as myetherwallet.com to withdraw your ICN

If you own the private keys to your ETH wallet, you'll get your dividends there.

You can also purchase ICN on kraken.com

Dividends are paid in ETH.

There, I have been nice for today.

 Smiley

Thank you! Very helpful!

I got the rig working, but had to buy ethos. Couldnt manage to install drivers properly in Ubuntu i guess. Is there any special trick? Smiley Ill give it a try again this week, but just wanted to mine straight...

Im having trouble to get them hash at expected rates. My 4x 480 nitro 8g give me 480-525 h/s total, but i think i dont installed the optiminer. Is that the way to go for mining ZEC? I see some controversy in forums and dont know how should i mine ZEC today as it is the most profitable by calculators.

Also, please, what is the conversion between h/s and sol/s? i see people posting stats in both units...

edit: when using globalminer zcash-miner it gave 300h/s. When just introducing optiminer it gives me between 480 and 525 depending on powertune. I didnt install optiminer i think because the link provided is not useful more, but then i dont  understand why boost to 480...

Man mining under linux is a headache, the gpu pro driver is a piece of crap. I abandoned and went for Windows, less hassle.

Sol's vs hash is the same thing, there is no unit of conversion.

I see... I went to ethos because i remember reading people using claymore and getting the expected around 200 sol/s per rx480... But i dont know how to use claymore with ethos... Optiminer mode just gives 500 sol/s for the whole rig Sad

How can i get some windows? remember desisting a few months ago when needed for another thing. Remember finding one in cnet but wasnt advised to use it. Ill get in touch via irc with ethos later, theres not much info in the forums...

Thanks guys, especially QuintLeo.

Ill have one rig tomorrow and see if i can make it work first. I bought sapphire rx480 nitro 8gb even though looks like numbers are better for 470 4gb, but i see people buying rx480 8g because resell value only?

Tough decision later because i expect some btc mooning next year... Thats the most gambling part i see from all this, sadly (besides gambling time for just ROI).
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Expected life of GPU mining in zcash and ethereum? on: December 03, 2016, 10:27:52 PM
13 cents for electricity
electricity too expensive

I pay 0.23/kW, just optimized the shit out of my rigs, I'm currently just over 7$ of profit a day at current Zec price.

You'll be more than OK with 13cts OP.

I guess from the numbers i ran a few days ago that you talk about a 6 or 7x rig of rx480? Thats meets what i saw... Where can i see actual hashrates given from the GPUs? because i see a lot of optimizations and it changes a lot. What do you mine with?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Expected life of GPU mining in zcash and ethereum? on: December 03, 2016, 10:13:57 PM
13 cents for power is okay for 1 or 2 builds  don't go nuts.

1) can you use the heat it makes?
2) do you have any parts at all?

Why is 13 cents ok for 2 rigs but not for 20? I made some numbers and my real costs would be more like 10 cents as today. Also possible to negotiate a deal for fixed kw per month for what a friend told me in my location... At which size would i need to change the electric installation to meet the necesities? I dont have any spare parts and wouldnt reutilize heat.

Could you estimate if it would profitable investing like 20-30k usd (in btc) right now? Im not used to the market so i couldnt profit much from that too... Also investing btc looks risky if it appreciates vs dollar if my goal is to accumulate btc isnt it?

What do you think? And also... is it much work/will run with lots of trouble as mining noob? Smiley
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Expected life of GPU mining in zcash and ethereum? on: December 03, 2016, 09:32:44 PM
Thanks, guys!

Its good to know that zcash is asics resistant. Even though electricity is high looks like the numbers can make themselves up in about 10 months. Does difficulty raise a lot or can we expect 1$ per card profit for long? thats what bothers me because i know for bitcoin its pretty difficult even to make ROI...

Does anybody mine altcoins seriously or is it too risky. Maybe i can consider a different location if planning for 3-4 years or getting a good electricity deal some way... But since you can resell later the equipment makes me feel altcoins could be better?
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Expected life of GPU mining in zcash and ethereum? on: December 03, 2016, 06:43:08 PM
Hello community!

Im thinking about mining ethereum and zcash, but im not sure since i have never mined and have a few questions that dont know if even reading all the forums i might be able to have them answered.

1. Last news i heard about when ETH transitions to PoS is early-mid 2017? Are there any recent news?

2. Is zcash going to always be GPU friendly or is it going to be mined by ASICs in the future?

Will i be able to make profit once the hardware is paid months ahead assuming i pay around 13 cents for electricity? What do you think?
