1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One problem with BTC on: January 04, 2022, 08:38:23 PM
Being no owner isn't a problem it's a feature and if you can't trust decentralized then don't use decentralized coins.I think just you are not ready for decentralized ,you are only responsible for your coins if you lost it or got scam it's on you and I also doubt that centralized coins would take complaints.
Bitcoin is not a business, it is peer to peer payment system. And why would any one be responsible if they made more profit its doesnt make any sense, if you invested at a wrong time it's your fault you should have done some research, why are you looking someone to complain,if it's your fault that you lost your money. It's same for any other investment.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I'm sure altcoins will pump if we hold long on: January 04, 2022, 07:48:45 AM
People bring in the traditional stock market mindset that if we hold enough eventually it must pay us returns ,but that could be farthest from the truth when it comes to crypto and especially altcoins.
More than 80% of existing altcoins are Scams and simple pump and dump schemes, peddled by paid influencers on Twitter and Instagram.
There are very less coins which have good fundamentals such as $SOL or $DOT maybe.
Most of the coins would be dead in the next bear market so beware what you hold.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is more important Hype or Utility? on: January 03, 2022, 01:46:08 PM
It depends upon what type of investment you are looking for short term investment or long term investment. If there is hype about the coin the it would be better for short term but if its technology is not that unique or good then it would suffer in long term investment. I generally would see use or utility of the coin but even if the coin has great utility but has no hype then it wouldn't survive.
4  Economy / Speculation / Re: Elsavador President Predicting $100,000 Bitcoin price looks like another joke on: January 02, 2022, 04:45:50 PM
The Elsalvador President is just another amateur when it comes to crypto,he thinks he can just HODL the bitcoin without any plan, though in contrast to the investments of other countries its still way better but his mentality isn't something that should be praised.
Its the tax payers money not his own that he is buying bitcoins with, having said that all his predictions are nothing but a wish,he just wants to create enough hype and spread the word around ,nothing to be taken seriously.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's never too late to start on: January 01, 2022, 06:02:19 PM
No,its never too late to start.Just start with doing research about top coins like why are they unique and technology behind them. Understand current situation and invest small, and when you get grasp of market cycles then its upto you.Always remember only invest money which you okay with losing and also that you are not in loss unless you sell.
Dont panic sell and be patient.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How are Bitcoin transaction fees so low? on: December 31, 2021, 11:09:48 AM
Recently i came to know that there was a 800M$+ transaction with fees around 1$,how is this remotely possible?
To my knowledge the transaction fees is actually a reward for the mining computers for successfully helping us create a block on the block chain. With such low fees wouldnt miners be discouraged to do so i.e. wouldn't mining become less profitable.
Also bitcoin can never become proof of stake unlike other coins,so where does this leave us ?
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is really controlling the Bitcoin market. on: December 28, 2021, 09:08:36 PM
Bitcoin is decentralized which means no one person or company can control it.Yes, bitcoin can be manipulated by directly or indirectly for example positive or negative news can trigger panic sell or pump, whales also affect bitcoins price like any other investment options.Every investment options can be manipulated. Bitcoin is just too volatile to predict where prices would go.
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can you really predict Bitcoin at this time on: December 27, 2021, 07:38:57 AM
No one can accurately predict bitcoin's price or what phase bitcoin will enter next year. Whenever people predict bitcoin's price it's just their opinion as you have said, to believe it or not is upto you.
Bitcoin's value atleast short term value is very depended upon ongoing hype and news so do your own research before investing.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If I had bought bitcoin 10 years ago, I would have been a millionaire: Not true on: December 26, 2021, 09:49:47 AM
This is completely true and in a way logical, there are very few assets be it equity, crypto, etc. which have potentials to give good returns. For traders a 5% return is considered good and equity investors consider a return of 12% to be a good year.
There would be very few people who wouldve voluntarily left their money invested without forgetting it.And in all fairness it is logical a 2x-3x return is excellent and we can always re-invest instead of hoping for a 10000x and hoping for a miracle.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if governments make Bitcoin centralized? on: December 24, 2021, 02:04:31 AM
Governments can only make more regulations and laws on how exchanges can operate like KYC requirements and etc. They cannot directly control bitcoin blockchain and even if they try to control bitcoins by 51% attack, the mining power needed to compete with the network would require enormous amount of money to acquire mining hardware capable of doing this 51% attack.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Proof of work vs proof of stake? Why can't i STAKE my BTC? on: December 23, 2021, 07:06:11 AM
My understanding of proof of work is that basically (miners/CPUs provide power to write transactions on the blockchain) whereas Proof of stake (is when we hold a certain currency and lock it into the systemso liquidity increases). Please correct me if im wrong.
Also why is it that only some coins can be staked? What are the conditions for a coin to be eligible to be staked?
And why are the returns on staking different on different exchanges? Is it simply due to difference in commission ,as logically the return on staking should be universally same depending upon the lock in period?
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FUDS started against Bitcoin as asusual on: December 19, 2021, 07:53:11 PM
It always happen when bitcoin's price drops and people start to speculate that it will drop more or some negative news. But keep in mind that usually there is no base for their speculations and it just spread FUD,which might make new people who had recently bought to panic sell seeing their portfolio drop therefore causing more drop in bitcoin's price.Every drop you would see these FUDs to spread, just do your own research and see what's really happening. These drops are great opportunities to buy more and just hold.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is USDT a trustable? on: December 18, 2021, 05:13:09 AM
I know that USDT is the most commonly used stable coin in the market but I dont think it is trustable as each USDT is claimed to be backed by 1 USD but never given a proper audit and also its marketcap which have increased in 1 year from 40B $ to 76B $, do they really have that much USD to back USDT up?
I would prefer more safer decentralized stable coins like UST,DAI and USDC.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / what proof must one have to identify himself as Nakamoto Satoshi? on: December 16, 2021, 06:32:47 AM
We always wonder who the real master mind behind the name of Nakamoto Satoshi the creator of bitcoin is.But what exactly would make you believe or convince you that "this" person is Satoshi if he/she ever decided to reveal himself.
There might be infinite wannabes and glory hunters wanting to rise to fame ,given the real Satoshi is one among them how would you go on about finding the right person.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Understanding the Ponzi Narrative on: December 15, 2021, 02:32:25 PM
Bitcoin is decentralized which means no one can control or manipulate value, whereas ponzi scheme is centralized where only few people at the top who makes profit out of getting investment for new people promising crazy insane profits quickly.Bitcoin's value comes from its utility, being limited and also demand and supply. Although there are some altcoins which are ponzi scheme so you have to do your own research where to invest.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Machine Learning truly predict Bitcoin's price? on: December 14, 2021, 07:58:05 AM
As you have mentioned the crypto market cap is way smaller compared to the stock exchanges of even developing nations and hence has a whole lot of whale manipulation, even sound technical and fundamental analysis are thrown out of the window when the whales enter the picture, hence any ML AI algorithm would have a much greater chance at predicting stock indices over crypto in general.
Having said this i still believe that even if in the future we get an insane over the top algorithm developed if it gets popularised too much or a large capital is invested based on the algos opinions then it would create a paradoxical situation,i.e. lets say you are a wealthy investor and your algorithms prediction is a price increase ,if you invest a huge amount now you are the one who is actually being a catalyst for this growth.
But right now there is no algorithm which even has decent accuracy in predicting prices of stable assets let alone cryptocurrencies.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin main use case now on: December 13, 2021, 04:55:35 PM
I don't think so that main use case of bitcoin is being only an indicator of where altcoins prices would go. Bitcoin main use would be used as a payment method but majorly now it is used as investment option.Altcoins are nowhere near bitcoin level of popularity and adoption. When bitcoins falls generally all the altcoins also falls and much harder but when bitcoin starts to get bullish, only some top altcoins would increase with bitcoins many other altcoins just dont recover the fall.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How safe is USDT? on: December 12, 2021, 06:53:38 PM
This is a question i had for a long time, ive seen majority of traders buy and trade crypto through USDT,they just blindly trust it ,as its purpose is that of a stable coin ,i.e. basically a crypto replacement for USD($).
But what if the company behind USDT decides to cheat its holders,is there any way we can find out before a complete disaster? (for e.g. they start minting more coins unnecessarily)
is there any safety mechanism or a red flag indicator before its too late?
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dollar Cost Averaging Question on: December 11, 2021, 09:06:08 AM
What you want to do can be referred to as SIP, i.e. Systematic Investment plan whose main purpose is to reduce the impact of volatility on your overall invested amount.Having said that logically the greater the number of investments the greater the DCA/SIP effect which would result in lesser impact of volatility.
Hence if you want to invest 120$ you must select 4$/day plan over 30$/week plan but due to Maker/taker fees, taxes, minimum purchase amount  and other variables people cant always optimize this strategy.
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin have any real value? on: December 10, 2021, 04:25:39 PM
Yes, Bitcoin is not backed up by nothing. Bitcoin's value depends upon the demand and supply in the market and that it's limited in number i.e. 21 million. Also gold is not backed up by anything, its value comes from how it's a precious metal and limited in nature. But unlike gold, Bitcoin has many more features and characteristics like decentralization, transparent, easy and fast transactions and cannot be counterfeited.
I would think Bitcoin is better option than gold in both short term and long term investment.
