1  Economy / Scam Accusations / Coinswitch.co seems to be scamming - be careful on: January 15, 2021, 07:20:06 PM
Hi all

This is about the instant exchange (built into some wallets, too):

https://www.coinswitch.co

Posting this for a friend who does not have a bitcointalk account. He lost a significant amount of crypto due to a stuck swap, he showed me the transaction. No response from support, too.

We crossed checked on trustpilot, and it seems that since a few weeks there are numerous reports like his.

DO NOT USE...

3  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Binance's partnership with Chainanalysis to detect "Dirty" Coins.. on: December 07, 2018, 12:12:05 AM
Next service I can foresee from all this will be to pay for full chainalysis certified clean coins. Might even make it an industry standard to have your coins certifiably clean and then partner with miners to charge people premium for newly minted coins. I want them to try it because it wouldn't work either. They'd have to get the rest of the users to comply with their censorship amd deliberately attack Bitcoin fungibility.

too much hassle, why not simply use coins that are fungible by design? XMR, XSPEC, Onion, so many possibilities
4  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is there a myetherwallet for bitcoin? on: December 01, 2018, 10:08:18 PM
Excellent question OP!  Smiley

I would also like to know, for BTC and BCH, is there anything like that?

For Ether and Monero there is but what about other cryptos? An account-less web interface that allows importing a private key and creating transactions?

Electrum is great but it needs a system that can run it locally, while MEW can be used from anything that has a browser, even a public computer in an Internet cafe.

Pretty useful in certain situations I am sure... Wink
5  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Shapeshift Membership on: November 24, 2018, 12:51:25 AM
lol indeed, i didn't register on there for the exactly same reason. The idiotism is they already implement two-factor with personal unique codes and after that they require one more two-factor with google and sms. fuck that

they do that because most people have a mobile that is tied to their identity. all part of a larger plan to map the blockchain. It's certainly not for your safety, that's for sure. If it was about safety, paper based 2-factor codes would be the obvious solution...nobody does that except LBC...ask yourself why.  Angry

The fact that they  do not hold your funds but use this shit, speaks for itself. There is no security needed at all, but they enforce google/SMS  Grin

7  Economy / Speculation / Re: CSW's "hash wars" impact on BTC price? on: November 21, 2018, 08:53:50 PM
While the hash war is probably responsible for around $15 million in sold Bitcoin over the last week, that shouldn’t be enough to effect the market so dramatically. I think we’re just seeing the end of the bubble coming back to reality. This needed to happen and once the remaining speculators are flushed out of the market, we can begin the ride back up to new highs.

Under normal conditions I would agree with you, but with all the negative sentiment out there, plus paper thin orderbooks, and prices close to support levels, it is very well possible.

You don't know how much BTC Craig and Calvin sold. A couple of thousands on different exchanges or OTC desks, using different names or child companies? Then stop loss selling kicks in? I have no doubt that is possible.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Roger ver the only person who to blame right now? on: November 21, 2018, 08:40:29 PM
ver and craig drama have nothing to do with bitcoin

...

go on show me a
[bch/btc[^]] then [btc/usd[v]] then [bch/usd[^]] then repeat
that is timed within the dips with measures that show amounts of volume enough to cover the dips

if you cant show a arbritrage pattern then dont even attempt to say they are the cause.

why? if CSW does as he said, he is selling BTC to fund his operation. He said he willl keep the BCH and sell BTC, and the crash started right away. He could very well be selling BTC across different exchanges or OTC desks.

He talked the talk, now he is walking the walk. With paper thin orderbooks a whale like him could very well trigger a crash like that (he says that too btw.)
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Roger ver the only person who to blame right now? on: November 21, 2018, 06:01:42 PM
Looks like Roger Ver and his Bitcoin Cash got the same treatment at the hands of Craig Wright that last year Ver himself tried to inflict upon Bitcoin.

Yeah, no, I see a difference between Roger calling BCH "the real bitcoin" and CSW calling his BCHSV "the real Bitcoin Cash" and then declaring a war that costs the community billions and billions of dollars, and threatening do actively destroy BCH via 51% attacks. If this was a regulated market (CSW loves regulation) then he would be in jail already.  Angry

Roger never attacked or threatened the rest of the community, or did he? Correct me if I'm wrong.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Roger ver the only person who to blame right now? on: November 21, 2018, 02:30:39 PM
OP are you f*cking nuts? Roger is not to blame at all, he just did his BCH upgrade.

It was CSW, Craigh Wright, who declared war on Roger and BCH and it was CSW who openly said that he is willing to destroy the entire crypto market by selling large amounts of crypto to finance his insane war.

Just google him and you will find out....

Hash War is On: Craig Wright Threatens to Crash Bitcoin Price Down to $1000

OP is blaming the World Trade Center for Al Qaida attack,,, "is WTC the only building to blame right now"  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
11  Economy / Speculation / Re: CSW's "hash wars" impact on BTC price? on: November 20, 2018, 01:56:18 AM
And as far as Craig Wright being a billionaire, I really doubt it, he is the conman to play the role of the leader and Calvin Ayre is the the actual billionaire... if we are to believe that as well. A lot of trolls these days call themselves billionaire, like that Richard Heart guy, but they've got a couple million at best.

Craig recently said he moved $100 million worth of paper Gold internationally for under 25GBP in fees to point out that Gold transfers aren't expensive,

He did? Why is he in crypto then? Why did he (LOLOLOL!!!!) invent Bitcoin? Why does he care so much about BCH if transacting outside of crypto is sooo super perfect? Just stick with your paper gold or VISA cards Mr. Craig  Angry

That's certainly bullshit, too, you can hardly do an international wire for 25GBP

Just ask Iran, when Germany refused to let them withdraw $300mm Euros. Or ask Venezuela when they tried to get their gold from the UK recently. That is the power of blockchain, not transferring some virtual gold tokens inside a closed loop system.
12  Economy / Speculation / Re: BYE BYE BTC (Continues) on: November 20, 2018, 01:40:36 AM
Whats different now:
1. China is OUT.
2. alts don't pump anymore. Like, at all, thanks to:
3. KYC fucking bs with exchanges. This means that:
4. crypto is no longer fun to play with.

We wouldn't have gotten the bubble we did if China was IN.

Alts went up so outrageously on such a stunningly empty basis that I'm amazed any of them are worth anything still.

When will you accept KYC as the next inevitable step to more people getting involved? It won't happen without it.

It'll be fun again. Not for a goodly while though.

Tend to disagree...more money needs to get involved...and question is will regulation bring in more money? Maybe. Maybe not.

From a newcomer's perspective, why buy crypto if you cannot own it? Any other asset class is like that, you can never truly own it. Crypto without KYC is a bearer instrument that you truly own, it cannot be taxed, seized or frozen.

If crypto is like a bank account, if tokens are like registered securities, why bother? And KYC hassle is also a huge, huge hurdle to a newcomer.

I bet there is a plan behind this regulation: make it harder to get into crypto!

I understand what you mean, regulation leading to more adoption, let's hope you are correct.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dr.Craig Wright talking about the end of bitcoin next year. [No FUD here] on: November 17, 2018, 09:45:26 PM
Craig Wright is a Psychopath. He displays all the classic symptoms. He uses fear to manipulate peoples emotions to get what he wants. I wouldn't be caught supporting anything this person is associated with.

He basically said, if I cannot get "my" version of BCH I am willing to take everything down - SAMSON OPTION

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samson_Option

Pretty sure mental institutions are full of people who made similar threats and did not have nuclear submarines for self protection LOL   Grin

And that is why I would not want to own BCHSV, even if it wins the hashwar, because I would never feel safe. If he is successful now, he can do anything to BCHSV in the future. Blacklisting, freezing, enforce KYC, haircut, risk of going to zero in a mad hashwar, ?,?,? ........ really the idea of investing into a CSW coin gives me the willies, literally  Shocked
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When there are 2,100 trillion Satoshis why the talk of scarcity? on: November 16, 2018, 11:35:33 PM
The assumption is wrong, you cannot spend single satoshis, at least not on-chain (dust limit)

In order to get round numbers when converting fiat currency (e.g. 1 cent = xxxx satoshis) you also need several digits.

The smallest practical denomination is maybe 1000-10000 satoshis

There is not even enough BTC for each millionaire to own one, so they are pretty rare - especially compared to other cryptos.  Wink

Look at it like this: Gold is rare. Yes there are trillions of atoms per gram, there is enough gold on the planet for each person to own a little gold dust. But it is still rare compared to iron, or silicon.  Grin
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dr.Craig Wright talking about the end of bitcoin next year. [No FUD here] on: November 16, 2018, 10:21:10 PM
Faketoshi is IMHO clinically insane and one of the worst enemies of crypto. He has made it clear that he is willing to destroy BTC and BCH. His tone and content is so close to that of well known twitter troll Bitfinexed, that I would not be surprised if they were one and the same person.  Embarrassed

His psy-OP level FUD is vile and disgusting; I must say I have never felt more sympathy for his opponents Roger Ver and Jihan Wu.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi is a real asshole on: November 16, 2018, 01:03:04 AM
it is more likely that Craig is Elvis than Satoshi

also he is creeping me out, he seems to be suffering from severe mental illness  Tongue
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple XRP has taken over Ethererum position on Coinmarketcap on: November 16, 2018, 12:56:44 AM
XRP has no function whatsoever. BTC or ETH are actual blockchains that can execute code (ETH more complicated code than BTC) but XRP is just electronic token issued by an company

It is like VISA. And because the company issued 100 000 000 000 of these tokens, the market cap is really high.

Everybody complains about Tether. Ripple is much worse because XRP is not backed by USD and a much higher supply!!!  Grin
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a tax on: October 18, 2018, 12:07:01 AM
A highly useful electronic ledger. Whose units you can buy, 100% voluntarily. And OP calls it a tax?

OP got burned or is a butthurt nocoiner, methinks.  Kiss
19  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The domain for 1broker has been seized by FBI on: October 03, 2018, 07:38:08 PM
what a horrible example of a perfectly fine company, serving their customers needs, being attacked by criminal imperialistic filth  Cry

they were in the Marshal islands...just because an FBI agent used them 2 years ago (probabyl against their terms of service) they are now under attack!!

imagine a restaurant in the US would be bombed by agents from Iran, because it has served an Iranian citizen alcohol 2 years ago?

It is blatant imperialistic aggression, and only works because the Marshal islands are weak. What does this mean, will exchanges outside the US who (correctly) work under the law of their location, not US law, only be able to survive in countries that are too powerful to be attacked by US imperialists? Russia maybe?

Changing the domain will probably not be enough because that is not the only attack vector...
