1  Economy / Economics / Re: List of Bitcoin Hostile (and friendly) Banks on: July 20, 2017, 04:47:42 AM

Did some research and it looks like the problem is on the Bitstamp side. Actually it seems like OTP is rater Bitcoin friendly:

https://translate.google.hu/translate?hl=en&sl=hu&u=https://www.otpbank.hu/privatebanking/Hir%3Fid%3D45546&prev=search

Just because one of their worker drones wrote an article about a hot topic on their pathetic private banking website doesn't mean they can't be blocking BTC related transfers as a policy.
I do not (yet) have any evidence to confirm Bitstamp's claims but a hostile OTP would be a blow Hungarians as they are the biggest bank in the country. They also happen to handle EUR/SEPA for a host of smaller institutions.
2  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BitcoinWisdom.com - Live Bitcoin/LiteCoin Charts on: July 14, 2015, 11:08:50 AM

We're apologized for the inconvenience and late reply. We use blockchain service and the blockchain API didn't forward the payment. please PM your payment info or send to admin@bitcoinwisdom.com. I will process the transaction by manual. The refund is also available.

It works now, thank you. The payments sent earlier have extended the premium.
I was worried the site was abandoned, not because of the bitcoin sent, but because I find it much better than the alternatives. Glad to see it's not the case.

Yes, except have some trouble with development. In past months, I didn't pay much attention on the forum and most of the requests are deferred, only critical issue will be processed and focus on development. It seems I've been felt into the perfectionism trap. Trying to make a near 100% reliability and extreme high speed charts backend, the system architecture has been rewrite 3 times. it also exhausted the spirit. It's quite headache. Maybe I should change my mind and made something useful instead of being stuck with it.

I'm sure I speak for many others as well when I say your work is deeply appreciated.
As a trader most of my screens are taken up by your site. Smiley

Paying for "premium" doesn't remove the ads anymore, at least in my case. The payment is registered, but it doesn't upgrade the account.
Tried to clear the session and logged out, but nothing helps.

how doth i see my accepts and rejects? they dont seem to be in 'getmininginfo'

Number of transactions minus blocks you get credited equals orphans.
If you also made actual transactions then discount those too.

I think they are basically trying to hijack this half-ready Novacoin clone together with the yacoin name in the other thread.
Yacoin as such is has NOT been released yet.

The code for the coin prob has diff set to 24 and it will launch in N-hours, not the other way around.

However, after the bounce is over, I think it will slowly gain value.

It's not a dead cat bounce then.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New CPUonly and NvidiaOnly coins on: May 06, 2013, 01:27:49 PM
1. There is one in the making for that

2. I'm not sure if it is possible, I tend to think it isn't, but

as for both points - and do not take this personally as it is just a general statement - it seems to me that people have forgotten what cryptocoins are all about.  They are only partly about mining.

Coins are not FOR the miners, as such, they are intended as a currency, a medium of exchange. Sure, we can have a coin that's only minable for a set amount of people, but that itself brings nothing to the table. Any coin solely designed around that is destined to fail unless it brings something to new to the table and/or people behind it manage to push it in a clever way and it achieves widespread adoption.

The only thing that puts value behind them in the long run is its usefulness as a currency.
So yes, we can have all sorts of special coins, as experiments, i'm not agains that, but their value will be highly speculative and will fade into obscurity within weeks.

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MC2 ("Netcoin"): A cryptocurrency based on a hybrid PoW/PoS system on: May 04, 2013, 04:26:40 PM
Scarcity is BS, people like to think in whole numbers, not fractions. If you make a coin that the average person has do deal with the concept of 0.00000934 to buy a burger, the thing will be a flop. It will only appeal to the exchange geeks like most of the alt coins.

As a novice guy, I like to keep some NetCoins instead of a fraction of it: 0.0001 NetCoin. Also, I feel safe if 1 USD can be exchanged for 2 NetCoins instead of 0.00012 NetCoin. Dealing with floating point is not comfortable at all.

However, I also agree that Scarcity can make NetCoin attractive to early adopters because it makes miners think that they are holding something more valuable. But when it comes to mass market, it is not a nice idea any more.

I wholeheartedly agree.

Besides, looking at the prospects in tech and interest behind it, I have no doubt that this coin will have a fantastic start, and people do jump into anything new anyway, therefore short-term spread and hashing power is not an issue. There is no evidence of people being put off by alt-coins that are abundant either.
There is absolutely no need to make it scarce in order to play mind-games on treasure hunters.

In the stock market you can have splits and reverse splits if your share price gets out of your desired, or limited, range. As far as i know, we cannot revalue a decentralized currency if the valuation gets inconvenient, we cannot suddenly double the coins in everyone's pockets and have the merchants immediately adjust prices as well.
We can play games of calling 0.001 an "x" and then later 0.00001 an "x" but this would create problems due to imperfect communication. Obsolete prices will come into contact with people already thinking in new values.
As far as simply going down the metric prefix ladder for the coin and switching the prefix in the wallets and advertisements for the sake of convenience and legibility, while probably unavoidable in the long term, is still less than desirable and needs to be delayed as much as possible.
We really should be planning long term with the cap in mind, and have to build on the assumption of success.
