1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are we still "Early Adopters"? on: October 26, 2018, 08:26:22 AM
Yes we are. If, as I expect, this technology will be there and will become the "base" protocol than we are early.
Imagine this like learning SMTP in the mid 90s.

Even though there has been some advancement the base protocol is still the same and widely used.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin bring an end to Paypal? on: October 26, 2018, 08:13:53 AM
I do not think Bitcoin will replace Paypal either. At the very beginning I thought this could happen ... but in time I started to realize that normal people will always see Bitcoin more like an investment than a payment system.
Why would normal people go through all the hassle of buying and storing Bitcoin and than spend it quickly with no benefit at all? (or even at a loss)
The same properties that are making Bitcoin interesting as an investment are the same one that makes it very hard to spend, I am thinking about scarcity and volatility.
And, as already said here, Paypal can offer some more service to the sellers/buyers that you will not find in Bitcoin.

It is not impossible though, but to do that buyers will need to have an incentive in order to spend Bitcoin; a big discount, a cashback or something on that line might do the trick.
3  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Please Buy a Hardware Wallet on: October 25, 2018, 03:13:46 PM
You can also add Coinkite Coldcard and Opendime on top of Ledger, Trezor and Keepkey.

I haven't tried Coldcard yet but I will as soon as possible.
I am particularly interested on restoring a seed directly on the device ...
should be way safer than typing the magic words on a laptop Smiley

I think it is better to use https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#1,24h.
Here you can see that what's taking most of the space are 1sat/byte tx (latest graph).
The space occupied by higher fees transactions is minimal compared to the space taken by the 1sat/byte ...

Usually this means that a big exchange is consolidating its UTXOs.
Looking into the queue today I noticed some heavy tx from Bitmex and Luno.

They can stay in the queue for a while, miners will mine higher fees transactions first
and eventually mine these only when nothing left to mine remains in the queue.
5  Economy / Speculation / Re: Any proposition for an official "End of HODL" day? on: June 29, 2017, 01:32:51 PM
... I never said "cashing out day" ... simply stop thinking about HODLing whatever happens and start using them.

I vote for 03/Jan/2021 ... Smiley

the same date in 2029 would be the perfect one, I think, but a bit too far away for me.

Hello,

First topic for me Smiley

Just thinking ...

Can somehow this ETH hype be good for BTC too at the end?
Can this help speeding up the resolution of the scaling debate?

Or when the ICO madness will be over, will the BTC gain popularity
back  as the "more secure" and "proven" tech in the cryptospace?

In may last year I bought right before the bitfinex hack .... how disappointed I was.
Now I wish I could buy at that price again.

So in the end I regularly buy a little and I do not care about the price anymore Tongue

Hello,

Does anybody know why my GF's account has her freebtc halved?
It should be around 170 satoshi but she's only getting around 85 :/
I tried registering her mobile number and I even wrote to the site admin but no news....

Anyone knows how this happens and how to restore the normal "gains"?

Thanks
