1  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antminer Hack S9 /S15 / S17 / Sx aso. SSH and so on for free on: February 04, 2020, 06:23:52 AM
thank you for the post and the help here. I followed these directions below and had a little trouble but ultimately was able to get "almost" all of it working for an S9.

I am using the following Firmware

Code:
Miner Type	                              Antminer S9
Hostname                             antMiner
Model                                     GNU/Linux
Hardware Version                     30.0.1.3
Kernel Version                             Linux 3.14.0-xilinx-ga36f3af-dirty #90 SMP PREEMPT Thu Jun 20 15:01:47 CST 2019
File System Version             Tue Jul 30 20:37:39 CST 2019
Logic Version                             V1.3.56
BMminer Version                     2.0.0

Problems I noticed:

It appears that Bitmain has taken some precautions to confuse us a bit more

- Changed the ownership of many directories away from root
- Changed Read,Write,Execution settings for certain import files (including some dropbear related files)

Results:

After giving ownership back to root and allowing those particular dropbear files to be executed, I was able to get the RSA Key created!! SUCCESS KIND OF ;(

However, dropbear will not start and I cannot figure out why. So I was hoping that someone could give me a couple commands to try and I will post the results back here.

*****UPDATE*****

Finally I was able to get this to work.

Please DM me if you would like the solution. Not charging anything, its just better this way.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Started a mining LLC, bank needs a NAICS code? on: September 28, 2019, 11:56:46 PM
The recommended NAICS code for this sector is 518210 (Data processing, hosting, and related services).   Keep in mind that this code is a bit imprecise and does not differentiate between cryptocurrency mining and other data hosting activities.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon releases A9 Zmaster 50ksol/s Equihash miner at 620W on: June 29, 2018, 07:49:16 PM
For some reasons, some users are experiencing a lot of rejects. Suggest A5 owners to be running in Performance mode, atleast to have about 50 kSol/s its seems that its needed. If i have 20+ A9 users interested i could open up a stratum for ZEC, but due to alot of hashes on ZEC network it would take a long time for such a small pool as mine to get any blocks at all.

I purchased several A9s and several Z9 Minis

I initially also found that I had high reject rates, but found that switching pools to one that supported the special stratum protocol variant fixed things.

A9s are now operating well except for 1. That one is just giving me all kinds of trouble (seems like its crashing and restarting every 20 minutes) and only producing hashes of around 15k sols, hopefully innosilicon can fix this situation but right now its pretty bad since i am effectively getting a Z9 hashrate at double the power usage (not to mention 10x the price) on that 1 broken unit.

I have tried changing the performance settings to no avail

EDIT: Maybe it just needs a firmware update. Would be great if innosilicon could provide that.
4  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A7 announced on: September 05, 2017, 04:01:08 AM
I started a group buy topic
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2147123.new#new

As I stated in it, I'm fairly new to the forums so I don't have to be the one to organize it completely,  id actually rather someone more well known to help lol

I would run a group buy    I have done them  last feb 2016

but they were out of san fran- usa  not  hong kong -china

60 for 43000 + 2000 + 1500 = 46500

 this is 775.

  I am in NJ ,USA

reship  would be 25 to 50 in usa

maybe 125 to europe

so
 800-825  in the USA
900 in  europe

I can build rasp pi's  for 65

so  do the math

825 usa no rasp pi
900 europe no rasp pi

890 with a rasp pi usa

965 with a rasp pi europe

those are break even numbers >

I am not a greedy pig  and would not mark up  like ebay

but I would want to earn some money  as it is a lot of work.

we also run into  btc price up price  down issues.

I certainly  won't be doing  it  until  Sept 12th  or later.  I may write a thread  in group buy section on tues the 5th  once my aug 6 unit comes in.

Phillip if you are doing a group buy,  send me a mail  at steve@canaan.io

I will do something special for you and the guys here.

I need to check on some details, but hit me up

It seems the priority for Canaan will be on the big orders... So sad for all of us, who are waiting for weeks just for BTC address... For almost a week after the last batch, I have not seen even a single guy to post here, on FB or Twitter, that he has received payment details(BTC address). Not a single guy!

my august 6th order  is due tomorrow.
my august 31st order does not have a btc address.

the group buy while it has attracted attention and has about 82 units or more has not reached the stage of exact pricing and it may never get off the ground.
my email talks with steve are moving along in the right direction but have not fully solidified.

I will see what happens with it but frankly it is really hard to buy gear for btc mining.

I'm sure everyone myself included appreciates the work you are putting in, who knows what will happen first. Half of us have orders in so maybe we get an address, or maybe they do what they did to you in August and jump a few people and try and get the 60 units sold. Either way thanks for trying to get us a 2nd option, in an industry that doesn't provide many. Personally I'm still rooting for my original order as I'm sure it will be a bit cheaper considering the reship from the US to Canada.

philipma --- I am definitely in for 20 units at the moment if you are still planning on doing the group buy.

my plans may change a bit here in the next couple of days (we might just try and purchase the 60 units directly). But please keep me posted on the group buy if that does have a chance of happening.
5  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Biostar TB250-BTC PRO 12 GPU support 6 AMD 6 Nvidia on: September 03, 2017, 09:29:42 PM
I was able to get 12 Nvidia cards working last night with Claymore for Ethereum.

10 - GTX 1070 (26 MH/s each)
2   - GTX 1060 (19 MH/s each)

Before I was having trouble with EWBF Zcash miner.

What BIOS mods did you need to make to get it to work?  Not even getting mine to boot yet with that many.

Yaa.. i have 1070 and still hang.. how u can ?

Sorry guys --- havent been on here in a while.

We are using EthOS distro with our miners ---- it is a linux distribution and we had no trouble getting the miners to register

We are running these as stock with no bios modifications (to the cards). However we did edit some bios settings for the motherboard, if anyone is still having trouble then please post a reply and I will share our bios setting changes

Ok so now I have D3 next issue anybody willing or able to part with WTT Token?
Sounds like renting WTT will further hash me outside.

i have some physical space to rent to you (east coast).... cheap electricity and rent. bring your equipment --- we already have power supplies on hand.

pm me if interested

Got my board today, looks great man, im excited to build this bad boy Cheesy

Thx again!

curious how it works out for you...let us know!

It's been a while since CjMapope received it but haven't heard from anyone that has tested this mobo and tell us their experience/review.
Deep In The Mines LLC, does this mobo support 12 AMD only GPUs or it should be 6 AMD and 6 Nvidia? or 12 Nvidia only?

I believe it does support 12 AMD but you would need to be using Linux or some other type of Linux mining OS like ETHOS. The max supported on Windows is 8 AMD and 4 Nvidia or 8 Nvidia and 4 AMD due to driver limitations. Biostar just likes to market this board as 6 and 6 hybrid.

I have not gotten this mobo to work with 12 Nvidia cards yet. I am using Ethos and have 10 of GTX 1070s and 2 GTX 1060s. While all 12 of the cards are recognized by ethos distro, only 6 will start hashing.

I have yet to try this board with 12 AMD GPUs although I will attempt to get this working tomorrow.

If anyone has any advice on mobo bios settings that would help with getting all 12 gpus working ---- that would be very helpful!!!!

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell / Pascal kernels. on: February 05, 2017, 04:27:11 AM
I agree that the miners with a dev fee are the best way to go.

The devs and my incentives are aligned perfectly.....

.....until the point that the dev makes all the money s/he wants (needs) to make.... then that proprietary code becomes a huge risk to any sustainable business model.

Quote
OS :  Win 10 64bit
Miner : EWBF's Zcash cuda miner Zec miner 0.0.9b
Speed : 1540 Sol/s
Pool: flypool
VGA Card(s) GPU/Mem: 4X GTX1070
VGA driver :376.33
OC: PL 70% - Core +200 - Mem +600

(I am a noob but what do the acronyms or abbreviations "PL" and "Core" and "Mem" mean?)

I have several more noob questions:

What kind of Power Supply Unit (PSU) are you using?

What kind of motherboard are you using?

And how much RAM do you have on that motherboard?

Are you using USB PCI extender cables and/or do you think that efficiency would be significantly crippled if your were to do so?

I am looking to setup a very similar rig however on Linux, I am considering putting 6 GTX 1070s on a single motherboard with a 1500W PSU. Do you have any advice or comments on whether this rig with 6 GPU would be an efficient setup?

Thanks for all the help in advance!
