As much as I love the concept and the transparency, I can't get behind this coin

99% of people willingly use facebook, google, and other services which knowingly gather and sell personal data

the average person is just not that interested in security. Most people don't even know what the NSA stands for. And I don't really blame them. If you're just engaging in normal activity, it's reasonable to not care about this stuff.

this messenger may target a niche group of people who are regularly transferring sensitive data and messages, but these people are a small minority. As someone else mentioned, tutanota and protonmail get the job done just fine for most purposes.

There are dozens of messaging apps out there. They may not be all that they are advertising, but I really don't see this one drawing any large crowds for the simple fact that most people consider this level of security rather trivial. Just my thoughts

It's because everyone is selling and converting to ethereum, seriously.
4  Economy / Speculation / Is bitcoin done? on: March 10, 2017, 11:40:00 PM
Long story short I invested far more of my small sum of savings into BTC than I should have. I bought half when it was around 800 and the other half at 1100 a few months back. With the disapproval we are tanking hard. I'm in this for the long hall but I'm questioning whether or not BTC will ever recover. Should I sell now at 1000? Is this the last time we'll see this price? Is BTC doomed as a currency?
5  Economy / Speculation / Will BTC ever reach 1000 again? on: January 12, 2017, 01:32:25 AM
Long time lurker, first time poster. I made a very silly mistake of buying coin at $1160. I use bank transfer which takes days to process, so there was nothing I could do when the collapse started just 2 hours after my purchase. I've also had a fair bit of coin that I bought at 800 months ago. When the price began to dip under 1000, I thought I could just sell the coin I bought for 800 to break even. But I held on expecting a recovery. And now we're at 780. There was a lot of hype on this board which certainly impelled me to buy. But I'm starting to think BTC is unrecoverable at this point. I don't see a rebound. I don't mind holding onto my coins for another 6 months, but if it's just going to drop to 600 and stay there for another 2 years then I might as well sell now. What do you guys think?
