1  Other / Beginners & Help / Set-up Assistance - CPU, SERVER, BitCoins/LiteCoins on: April 11, 2013, 02:51:51 AM
I have continued my quest for knowledge. I have decided to work with Bitcoins and Litecoins. I am leaning towards Litecoins because from my understanding ASIC systems are mopping up the Bitcoins. I still struggle with systems/cpu/power/hash/etc. Because of this I am listing out what I want to do:

1. Set-up a CPU dedicated for mining (Bitcoins and Litecoins). Any suggested hardware and mining software? I am planning on running a linux OS.

2. I own a bank of dedicated servers. I have one server sitting idle. Can I create a Pool? If so, help? I am willing to negotiate some $$$ for assistance.

3. Namecoins confuse the hell out of me. Bitcoins seem tough to mine with ASIC's in the game. Litecoins are so so. Can anyone suggest another cryptcoin that is just emerging (might be high risk but high payout)?

Thanks in advance,
J
2  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Utilizing A Computer Lab To Generate BitCoins - Best Options? on: April 07, 2013, 05:20:29 PM
I want to clarify the lab, the lab is mine. Also, energy is not a concern because I generate my own via a water turbine.

After doing some research it seems that it may not be worth mining bitcoins. It sounds like laptops will burn out and the competition is using ASIC systems.

So, any internet guides out their that explain how to build an ASIC system? Please correct me if I am wrong.

I need some guidance with this one. I recently discovered Bitcoins and have a "basic" understanding. I am wanting to ramp things up to maximize potential profit. I have the following items at my disposal:

70 Laptops running XP or Linux available 24/7

My question:
1. BTC Guild, BitMinter, or other for pooling?
2. Guiminer, BitMinter, or other for mining?
3. Should I focus on Bitcoins only or try to mine for litecoins and namecoins at the same time?

OR

should I be considering something totally different? I am open for all options.

Thanks in Advance,
J
