If the driver is broken for mining, what do you expect cgminer to do about it?

no idea, its why I asked. Despite what my search said, I couldnt be the first one with the problem. I was genuinely hoping for a workaround or fix I missed.

updated to catalyst 13.4 from 13.1 last night. now cgminer (301 and 310) hangs on start. i get as far as this:

Code:
[2013-05-03 16:18:35] Started cgminer 3.0.1
[2013-05-03 16:18:35] Loaded configuration file cgminer.conf
[2013-05-03 16:18:36] Probing for an alive pool
[2013-05-03 16:18:37] Disabling extra threads due to dynamic mode.
[2013-05-03 16:18:37] Tune dynamic intensity with --gpu-dyninterval
[2013-05-03 16:18:37] Network diff set to 10.1M
[2013-05-03 16:18:38] Thread 1 being disabled

and it just sits there indefinitely. tried a few different .conf settings, and get ther same. without a .conf and specifying url and such, it crashes a few seconds after hitting return after entering password.

any ideas?

nobody? I'm to the point where im mining with guiminer, seeing ~150Mhs slower than i should be Sad
Read your first line ... that a hint?
Downgrade.
Yeah, I was hoping for an actual solution rather than just reverting and ignoring the problem.

just what is "intensity"?

Did you see this?

--intensity|-I <arg> Intensity of GPU scanning (d or -10 -> 10, default: d to maintain desktop interactivity)

and what does that mean? how does it affect miner output?

Its like priority in the windows task manager, it sets how important the hashing is to the GPU. 'd' setting is good for computers being used while mining, while most dedicated mining cards see performance benefits in the 9-15 intensity range, from what I've seen.

didnt have "no-submit-stale" on, and something went slightly wrong with the gpu autotune. now im back to just under 1 Gh/s and actually submitting to the pool. knew it had to be too good to be true.

ive been mining for quite a while now, this is what I'm seeing after some tweaking. i previously avg'd mid-900s, now it holds at approx those numbers while nothing else is running.

Woke up to see my "rig" , aka my gaming box, cranking this out:

GPU 0 is a 5850, and 1 & 2 are a 5970 (got from craigslist for $100!)

is this my actual hashrate, or is something borked? I dont see anything higher than 863 Mh/s listed in https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_Hardware_Comparison , and I've got ~1190 just from the 5970 if this is to be believed.

My stats for the pool are here, and right now they arent supporting the stats im seeing locally. WTF's going on?
9  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Problems with 3 GPUs on: April 21, 2013, 06:09:18 AM
I've got this same problem, but my topic got deleted.

mined with a 5970 for a few weeks, remembered I had a 5850! added that in the mix, now no matter what options I specify, cgminer stops @ "Started cgminer 2.11.4". Ends up chewing all my ram until I BSOD

1kw psu, amd 6-core proc, 16gb ram, on win7 64
10  Other / Beginners & Help / cgminer hang after adding another card? wtf! on: April 21, 2013, 03:29:47 AM
Been mining on a 5970 for a while, then I remembered I've got a 5850!

Set it all up, now cgminer hangs at startup. no options I've tried have gotten it to start with anything other than "Started cgminer 2.11.4" and no other info.

How can I get back to mining?

Hi all!

so, now that i've introduced my self, i hope that you still have some paitance left for one more newb.  Tongue

Ciao,
JDev!

I'm new to mining, old to computers, and i've got this same problem. just realized it was a problem, too. cant seem to find any info on this kinda thing, so now it's time to be more proactive looking for a solution.
