1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: New Year Eve on: December 22, 2021, 08:02:46 PM
NYE always feels like a special event. We're going to 2022, a year that might not be dominated by covid-19 anymore. I'm always expecting something big to happen to volatility, especially with crypto. Will it pump again? Will it dump? I don't have a clue, but I doubt it stays linear.

By the way is there some kind of VIX index for crypto?
I do not know if you actually follow the news regarding the pandemic but not long ago a new variant of the virus that is believed to be even more dangerous appeared, not only that it seems the current vaccines are not really adequate to fight this new variant, so if anything the year of 2022 seems that is going to be dominated once again by the pandemic, even then the world must keep going so I expect a lot of movement in the markets of altcoins during 2022 as I do not believe the current bull run is over yet.

Spreading faster? Sure, but more dangerous? Haven't heard that yet. People are expecting milder symptoms. And it's true that current vaccines aren't as good against it. But in theory, the mRNA of that variant can easily be turned into a vaccine.

Also heard the US army is creating a vaccine that should cover all variants in one.

So not too worried about the virus, more worried about repeating 2018, as that was a rough year for crypto.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Best coins to short as hedge on: December 22, 2021, 07:59:44 PM
So I feel like I'm taking too much risk, by hodling lots of cryptocurrencies, and in case a bearmarket begins I'd like to hedge my positions and open some shorts, much less than my hodlings, but still significant.

But what coins would be good for that? What coins would go down more than others in a bearmarket?

I'm thinking perhaps Solana as it's so high, but its direct competitors (Avax, Luna, Polkadot are better in essence)

But there must be many more coins that will go down. What about Shiba Inu? I'm always worried for a sudden Robinhood listing though, as they did with DOGE.

What can you guys come up with?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it a good time to BUY DOT??? on: December 21, 2021, 01:02:35 PM
I somehow forget about this coin. It's like the new lisk, it's an Ethereum competitor but just doesn't get as much attention.

The parachains will be interesting. I heard Shift is going to be one, we'll see.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most original simple Metaverse game? on: December 21, 2021, 10:27:17 AM
Crypto kitties, I guess?

It's the first NFT game that we all knew and I think most of the idea about breeding and having a virtual pet started there that's connected to blockchain.

It's still there and I think there are still a lot of players that are playing the game. A very simple and basic game of collecting, buying and selling of pets.
I don't really consider collecting a game, but I guess it can be seen as one. But I want to like have fun, not spend tens of thousands to show off some ''nonfungible'' tokens.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most original simple Metaverse game? on: December 21, 2021, 10:26:21 AM
Have you tried:
- IOI Trade Race Manager
- CyberTrade (Soon Alpha Testing)

Both of them from the same company QORPO - Infinite On Chain, the first game are awesome about trading simulation with race game mechanism. The awesome things they're build with 3D unity so no pixel game Grin

I'll take a look. Thanks! Seem interesting at first sight.

Do you also know what the best way of entry is ? Buying its token? Buying an NFT of them? Signing up for a whitelist or anything like that?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your opinion, NFT last long or not ? on: December 21, 2021, 10:22:00 AM
I think they last in some ways. But i'm wondering if the hype is ''already'' over. I mean the mentions are getting less, and more jokes are about how they're just tokens that aren't really unique.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coins with a potential like the Ethereum. on: December 21, 2021, 10:18:01 AM
I kinda see Ethereum killers in groups.

SoLunAvax

Solana is the cheapest
Luna is the most decentralized and allows you to choose what you use as gas (love this one)
Avax is in between and generally more serious than Solana

Mathematical ones
Cardano (first mover advantage, but programming language too hard for normal people)
Algorand

Upcoming Killers
Harmony (quite decentralized, great theme, don't know enough about it yet)
Fantom (don't know shit about this one yet but it's more decentralized than Sol and Avax)
Probably many others

Then there's the Centralized bullshit
BNB (You all know BSC)
CRO  (Copycat of BNB really, but slightly less centralized, and at least they do proper marketing)
other exchange smartchains (I doubt any other stand a chance, but BNB and CRO could overtake ETH simply because the exchanges are so fucking profitable and invest billions in their chain, and billions in marketing)

I think one of these mentioned is going to overtake Ethereum one day, although I'm not certain as a newer one might be better than all. Personally I like Luna the most, for using, but its community isn't that good yet, and its already so high. I'd stay away from Solana especially.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / DAO ponzis on: December 21, 2021, 10:13:11 AM
Hey I keep hearing about a lot of DAOs that are actually ponzi schemes. How do I know whether a DAO I'm in is a ponzi? And what mechanisms do I need to understand so that I don't become a victim to it.

Like there's often this game theory thing about staking and bonding or something, I don't even understand what Bonding is, but any dao I stake I seem to lose value. Am I just an idiot?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Play2earn games on: December 21, 2021, 09:48:52 AM
I think that whenever a game becomes good and earnings become good, it will quickly be saturated by new players. Then there will be high sell pressures from the new supply going into the market.

So it's such a weird price mechanism. First price goes up cuz hype, then players join, price stays stable as hype increases but sells too. Then hype wears off and sells keep on increasing, now not just from players but also hodlers who lose interest.

But some big games like AXS somehow manage to keep their coin superhigh. I guess that's cuz the players dump SLP and not AXS, hmm.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: December 21, 2021, 09:34:03 AM
AT this point XMR feels like proof that TA rarely works. So many TA'ers have shown big moves on XMR, yet it barely does anything and just goes down with Bitcoin and ethereum, but not upwards.

But I still believe in it, surely the vast majority of weak hands are out by now.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What is your trust rating for projects that do not have ANN thread on this forum on: December 21, 2021, 09:31:55 AM
It's a shame, almost every project used to be on BCT, but now half of new projects don't even have a topic at all. This used to be the go to place to find new things, now it feels old and slow.

Then again, this is still much better than reddit, fucking hiveminds and crazy upvote corruption with pumpndumps.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which is the most underrated coin for 2021? on: December 21, 2021, 09:30:26 AM
Not completely sure about this, but probably SCRT and SEFI. SCRT is a working anonymous smartchain, and SEFI is its Uniswap with a great name, SecretSwap.

SCRT Nfts are very interesting. Imagine NFTs with hidden data that only the owner can read? One could sell stories, poems or quotes that only owners can read, and buyers can publicize those or keep them for themselves.

SCRT is ofc also useful for private transactions in general, good for criminals. Then again, Monero hasn't pumped well this year.

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Play2earn games on: December 20, 2021, 06:39:06 PM
Go to coinmarketcap and look into p2E games lists you will see many crypto games that are free to play and earn on the go, yes some are not even requiring players to buy their tokens before you can earn some money, do your own research
Thanks for this tip, I had no idea CMC had such a list. Do you think coingecko has one too?  Did you find a good one yet? Thanks again!
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Most original simple Metaverse game? on: December 20, 2021, 06:37:54 PM
What do you guys think is the most simple yet original metaverse game? I'm not expecting a game with years of development. I'm looking for something very simple that works, but isn't just a copy from an already existing game. So no Tetris, but something that's similarly simple, but works and is original.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Coinye [KOI/COYE] You can't kill a gayfish. on: December 20, 2021, 06:33:02 PM
I remember this coin from back then! I wonder if I still have the privatekey somewhere? no clue how many I had back then, it's a shame those lawyers really fucked us. Bet they would embrase it if done today.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Cryptocurrency written in Python on: December 20, 2021, 04:44:53 PM
Since python is the only programming language I know this might be interesting. But I feel like there's many reasons other crypto purposely didn't use this language!
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can SHIB rise to 0.1? on: December 20, 2021, 02:01:33 PM
Not without doing a tokenswap to a lower supply version, or something similar to that. It's just a crazy marketcap with that supply, unrealistic. Bitcoin to 1 million much more likely!
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Dogecoin Dead??? on: December 20, 2021, 02:00:10 PM
This coin totally surprises me again and again. Still should have some in cryptopia that I can't access. But I was an early investor but sold most of them long long ago. And had some on exchanges that exit scammed or get hacked, I'm an irresponsible investor.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] PhotonicBitcoin - Revolutionizing Proof of Work [oPOW][POW] on: December 20, 2021, 01:57:54 PM
If the PoW is really revolutionizing it's such a waste with that shitty name. Photonic? Really? And stealing Bitcoin's name is dumb too. That's only fine for projects like HarryPotterObamaSonix100inu or something like that.
