1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does anyone know how to create an IXC paper wallet? on: April 11, 2013, 06:02:47 PM
Good news, folks!
Vircurex have changed their minds, obviously:

9 Apr 2013 - IXCoin trading
Some confusion has arisen with us first stopping and then reinstating IXC. This message is to confirm that IXC trading will continue.

In addition to that, doublec's mining pool is going to do IXC merge mining again, see
http://mmpool.bitparking.com/

Quote
2013-04-09: Generation of ixcoin rewards for pool users is re-enabled now that Vircurex is open again. Pool reserves are still low so ixcoin reward payment is at 50% until the pool catches up to break-even again. The pool is currently 200,000 ixcoin behind that.

That is great news!

Thank you for posting this.

Btw the "listaddressgroupings" RPC command (Help->Debug window->Console) lists all your addresses that have somehow been exposed to the outside world, including change.

Now that solves everything, what a useful command!  Smiley

Thank you

How about a button that will show the list of change addresses, but those change addresses would automatically disable themselves for the purpose of receiving funds from outside wallets? Would this be able to work?

Or encrypting the view of the change addresses just so that they could not be re-used for receiving from any outside wallet?

It does seem a little sneaky of the qt to deliberately hide account addresses.

Once you have the coins in a wallet.dat you could dump it using pywallet (https://github.com/joric/pywallet) which is a Python script (no compiling needed). This will give you a json file with all the public and private key information.

What a great solution!

Why not just install the IXC wallet and sit on the IXcoin until it is picked up by another exchange?

Hey...

Yeah, it is completely lame that Vircurex has decided to discontinue IXC.
That is why it is important to install the compatible wallet for each crypto-coin one uses.

I do not personally use Windows, so I cannot help you with that.
However, I do know a little UNIX and have installed the IXC wallet onto my Linux (Ubuntu). I posted about the process here:

http://bitcoingoddess.wordpress.com/2013/04/08/install-and-configure-the-ixcoin-wallet-daemon-for-linux/

Apparently the daemon is missing the GUI and a .conf file, but this can be easily remedied.

If you have faith in it's worth, you should buy at any time, high or low.

Personally, I believe that the true value of an old silver quarter is worth far more for it's historical value than for it's monetary value.

That being said, I also strongly believe that precious metals will only grow in value as the fiat currencies show the nadir of their intrinsic weakness. Therefore, in my opinion, silver will indeed, remain a very important part of trade in the future.

It is very generous of you to hold such a giveaway.

Well...

Soon the Bitcoin ATM will arrive and slowly become more commonplace.

That will solve a lot of issues with attaining BTC.

11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who controls bitcoin? on: April 07, 2013, 10:39:08 PM
There need not be more than 21 million BTCs in circulation as "There are really 2,099,999,997,690,000 (just over 2 quadrillion) maximum possible atomic units in the bitcoin design." (pulled from https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Myths)

Once the value multiplies significantly, there will be adjustments to the fractions and we will see transactions that extend past the standard 8 decimal spaces.
12  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: April 07, 2013, 08:59:44 PM
In my opinion, it is more than likely a huge mistake to back out of existing pre-orders. One would lose their place in the shipping queue and re-ordering is sure to be a nightmare of a wait-time!

Any online order is basically a gamble as to whether you actually receive it or not. If there is concern, then order the product with a medium in which the money may be claimed back in case of a scam or incompetence, such as PP or a credit card, not BTC...

I like to use the term "Binny" to denote BTC0.01

Geez...

It really sucks being late to the party. It was very generous for them to give out so much Litecoin, though. 235 LTC is a lot!

Hello everyone:

I am also known as Déesse D'or, I only just learned of Bitcoin in January of this year and fell in fascination with it immediately! The very thought of currency that may be kept somewhat anonymous is truly exciting.

Currently, I am on a quest to learn all I am able about crypto-coin. About a month ago, I became aware of Litecoin and now I am keeping track of Peercoin(ppc) and IXcoin as well. I feel strongly that crypto-currency will only grow in popularity and is in no threat of going away.
