Do you want to mine BTC or litecions?
2  Other / Beginners & Help / Starting Guiminer Litecions on: April 10, 2013, 06:27:03 PM
I have been using Guiminer-scrypt alpha for mining Litecions

The last two days the mining went well.

Until 30 min ago when i Guiminer crashed.

Since the crash i haven't been able to mine.

when i open the program i get an icon on my taskbar but i won't be able to open the screen and start mining

When i look in my task manager i also see that Guiminer is showing a little activity because it has been activated but i can't open the program from my taskbar.
But i can close it.

When I open the Guiminer for mining BTC all works well and there are no problems.

I have used CCleaner to clean my register en i have used AVG again to allow to run the application.

Can someone help me with this problem?

if you want to know what is most profitable you need to look at how much bit coins you can mine in time X and how much litecions in time X

multiply that by the worth of the coin and you have a good indication which coin earns the most.

if you have free electricity then you could skip the cost side of the balance

if you mine litecions you mine in khash/s

Bitcions can mine in Mhash/s

this is due to enscryption difficulty
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Noob queries: Should I buy a miner, build a rig, or can I use my rig for mining? on: April 08, 2013, 01:38:08 AM
Forget about an ASIC. you wont be able to get your hands on one for 6 months, at the very least, if you plunked down $6-7k today, and were willing to task the significant risk of A. never actually seeing your ASIC and B. having the difficulty quintuple and make your ROI asymptotic before you ever got it hashing.

Get 4x 7970 and a 3770k and start mining LTC this week.

Worse comes to worse you have an unreal gaming rig.

What Mobo would be best to fit 4 GPU's

PSU is the power supply unit. the thing all the power cables connect to it should have something like maximum output 600w or even a make and model would be good. the pool your using should be fine just check the settings on there website with the ones that are in guiminer

I have a 'be quiet! System Power S6 550W ATX22'

so it seems when it is under a lot of stress it powers down my GFC

and what do you mean by  'even a make model would be good'?

yes dont worry about the memory to much it goes upto 100% shows the card is in high performance mode

you could even lower the memory clock speed it wont affect your mhs or khs speed

if the error happens again then its either the PSU or much more likely something to do with a port setting or on there end

What is a PSU?

and if it it the problem of the pool I joint what other pool would you suggest to join?

THx

I did everything you asked

First thing that caught my eye is that the memory  frequency jumps to a 100%

is this supposed to happen?

the tempurture seemd stable at 59C for 1 minute now and my fan speed is at 45%

GPU is also at its max(but that is what I want Smiley )

Edit

The activity dropped to 0% the hash rate hasn't dropped(yet)

But I am also noticing a message at the bottem that says:

"nl.btcguild.com:8332 08/04/2103 02:41:57, IO errors - 1, toleran"

Hello,

This weekend i started to look into the world of bitcion mining.

After reading a little and watching some videos i decided to start mining.

I downloaded Guiminer V2012-12-03

I subscribed to a server(BTC guild (the Netherlands))

filled in my user name

selected my GFC( Sapphire HD 7850)

and pressed the mine button.

all went well and i started to mine at 270 Mhash/s

I alrdy knew from videos on YouTube that ATI cards from the 5xxx generation could do the same amount of Mhash/s do i decided to do some further investigation of how i could increase my Mhash/s

I found out that if i increased my GPU i could get more Mhash/s

I went to my Catalyst control center and went to AMD overdrive.

I increased my GPU from 920 to 1050(max) and i got  300mhash/s

after having read that increasing memory won't increase my speed i decided not to though my meomory speed.

After a while I checked up again and I noticed that my hash/s had dropped from 300 to around 250khas/s

I noticed that the activity of my graphics card dropped from around 98% to 0%.
so I changed all my settings back again ( from 1050 to 920)

I pressed the start button and off he went.

after a while the same dropped occurred.

so I went on to search of more people had this problem and if there was a solution.

after a few hours searching and finding noting, mostly due because I can't find a proper way to describe my problem, I decide to ask here Smiley

So I am using

Guiminer
Shappire HD 7850
Windows 7(64bit)
8gig of ram
i5 3570

also at the moment I have selected only one cpu affinity (0) and I am not using extra flags

IF you need more information don't hesitate to ask

Covux
