I'd be very cautious of using Driver Sweeper.  It caused more problems than solutions on the 2 machines I tried it on.  Problems I estimate an average computer user would have a lot of trouble solving.   There are threads for manually uninstalling the drivers that AMD uninstall misses out there I would google them.

What I've noticed about 0.8.1 (and 0.Cool when analyzing traffic with jnettop (was the quickest thing I had handy) is that a peer can ask for blocks and bitcoind will happily send them as fast as it possibly can. If that peer asks for a large range (500 at a time) bitcoind will happily saturate your entire uplink to deliver those block requests.

I've seen single peers pulling 250KB/sec through my DSL uplink, absolutely destroying anything else I'm trying to do. Restarting bitcoind disconnects that peer and they move onto another peer, which is why it seems stable again for a while after restarting. Eventually you get another greedy peer and the cycle repeats.

There is no built in throttling. You'll have to manually figure out a way to do QoS/throttling so it doesn't kill your link.

Nice Catch.  I figured out what my problems were last night thanks to you.

Welcome to Bitminter, guys, and thanks for the kind words. Smiley

Question:  If I stop all my miners right now,  Do I earn a percentage of the blocks found during the next 10 shifts?

The work you have done is paid whether you do more work or not. It will go in a shift and as long as that shift is among the 10 last completed ones when a block is found, you get paid for that work. This way a single proof of work is usually paid multiple times. If you go to the website and go "statistics" -> "rewards" in the navigation menu you can see this from the top graph. The graph looks like a staircase with different levels - that's from proofs of work getting paid repeatedly, sometimes many times, sometimes few.

If this is the case it seems it would be wise to add higher difficulty options for the future.  I've noticed at times my card seems to be waiting for a new share to process.  If higher difficulty then more processing and less waiting seems more efficient.  You have a very full plate and I also am excited about litecoin mining in the future.

Since work is queued up on the client side, there should be no waiting while grabbing more work from the server. If there is a problem getting enough work you will get a message in the log about running out of work and idling.

Thanks, I understand now and I am on board with my soon to be 7+ GH/s  which will be the equivalent of 7 MH/s I'm afraid in a few months.

After few days I get 0.0025 per block(btc), everywhere else I get double.

In larger pools you get less per block, but you get blocks more often.

If you want a really high pay per block you can try solo mining. You'll get over 25 BTC per block, but you won't get many blocks.

what is with those "shifts-work "?

I've noticed this as well.  It appears that if you don't have your miner running 24/7 you will not get a good rate of return from Bitminter.  If I am reading it correctly it adds up 10 shifts that are each about 46 minutes long and then gives you a percentage based on your average through those 10 shifts soooo, you have to mine for around 8  hours straight with no interruptions before you are maxing out your earnings.  I'm curious who benefits from the slack?  I game with this pc besides mining about 4/5's of the day so it looks like I am going to have to pass on bitminter and his great software and layout.

That is the problem, i am mining 24/7. I was thinking after few days, reward will come to normal value but it didnt. I have just ~500Mhash not 10Ghash to play around like this.
I like the system, pool,... it looks ok, but i can't be a part of this.

I noticed that another .025 bitcoins went in my account from yesterday after I moved my equipment back to Slush.   Still 25% less than I am getting on Slush's pool, but I think there may be some delay in the accounting that makes it look worse than it is.

Ok so i just started mining with Bit Minter about 12hrs ago.  I can from Mt. Red and before that Bitclockers (prior to DDoS).  My hash rate is about 4000 Mh/s.  I am seeing very low payouts with this pool, as i would expect with its payout system.  I have been mining for a year and a half, and was wondering as a 24/7 dedicated miner, if this pool is wiorth my while?  Will my pay outs increase to about 0.2 BTC per day or more in time, as this was my average payout in other pools.  I have to SC ASIC's miners on the way (hopefully) and would like to know if i shoud stay or go based on my current hash rate?

I got about 25% better returns from Slush's pool.

Hi,

I've been lurking here for several months.  Finally decided to post a little.

You have the right idea, it makes the income from the pool much more stable, though it does involve higher risk. The major upside from this is that the pool is 100% hopper safe and we don't have to worry about any body hopping in just before the block is solved. As a gamer I still use bitminter for two reasons:

1. The miners simplicity and efficiency are unrivaled. Seriously, nothing comes close.
2. The high risk, high gain has benefited me very well over the past year leaving me, on average, with higher profit over time.

For a third reason, Dr. Haribo, the owner and operator, is simply the best. He is constantly working towards a better Bitminter for us and charger nothing in return. Over the past year I've watched this pool grow and because of Dr. Haribo's willingness to listen to users and his skill, the pool has simply become the best out there for most miners.

With all of that said, if you can only mine for a few hours a day then a PPS pool might be better for short term profits.

I was thinking about this over dinner.  How does pool hopping hurt anyone?  if it takes 1,000,000 shares to get a block and someone jumps in at the end and contributes 25 shares before the block is found and they are rewarded based on 25/1,000,000.  What is the problem with this and why do such drastic measures need to be taken to prevent it?

I think his Hash rate has increased enough over the past few weeks to warrant a shorter number of shifts on the average.  Slush's pool offers about double the reward for me when I have some my cards turned off for part of the day based on my experiment from last night.   I just wish Slush hadn't done away with merged mining.

I just wanted to say how impressed I am with your miner and your web page.   You are a diamond in the rough among the pools out there.    I think you are doing a service to bitcoin by making it so easy to mine, although your motivation is probably less altruistic the more people that are mining and selling and buying the stronger the coin will get imo.   From what I've seen of the different pools websites I rate yours the highest for interesting information and ease of use.
