I read about VPS again and again, but is it really necessary to run the secure node on a VPS or can I also just run it on my home cumuter? You do not have to run a secure node on a VPS. You can run it on a home computer. To be more successful, make sure: 1. port forward on your home firewall/router ports 9033 and 19033 to your computer 2. Run it on a 64 bit operating system, linux preferred 3. Buy a domain and create a fully qualified domain name that points to the ip address of your home firewall/router 4. Run the secure node tracker and put the ZEN in the locations you need to for operation.

Just updated my linux wallet today. It looks good, and works well. Nicely done!

I just went through the exercise of buying XVS on Yobit, getting it exchanged for VSX, and setting up Masternodes. The software works well, and there is good support on Discord. So far, I am impressed.
Have not mined it yet - I need to set up a Xevan GPU miner still. Will do that soon.

This is really exciting! I've been wanting to deploy solar powered mesh wifi hotspots, but could not figure out how to make any money doing it. This should help a lot.

On a separate note: the Swing wallet needs some serious adjustments with regards to resource utilization. It has high CPU & RAM usage and my CPU temperature goes upto 85 C which is dangerous.
I didn't notice that on my computer also, I will check to see how much resources are used and I will let you know scottrock from Slack: Answer - please check you are running the latest versions of zend - usual CPU usage is around 12% while syncing the blockchain and the Swing wallet less than 1% CPU, Zend RAM less than 330MB. zend will quite happily run on older hardware. I've noticed sometimes the swing wallet uses what seems to be high CPU. This is the issue I opened on it on the Github. https://github.com/ZencashOfficial/zencash-swing-wallet-ui/issues/3blockops1 commented 27 days ago When I run swing wallet on linux zend is using 100% of a processor. Is there any way to reduce the amount of CPU used by Swing wallet? Maybe have it update less often? Perhaps this can be configurable? @vaklinov Collaborator vaklinov commented 25 days ago • edited It is normal/expected for zend to be using 100% CPU (or more) when it is synchronizing the blockchain or there is a JoinSplit going on. However when zend is synchronized and is idle with only requests from the GUI wallet coming, the typical CPU percentage taken is:
GUI wallet: 0-20% zend: 0-10%
If you have observed significant CPU consumption on an idle wallet, this may be an issue - needs to be reproduced so it may be diagnosed...
There is a known limitation on Linux that might confuse users as to the exact CPU% taken at one time, listed among the known limitations: The CPU percentage shown to be taken by zcashd on Linux is the average for the entire lifetime of the process. This is not very useful. This will be improved in future versions. The reason for this is that the Linux command used to get the CPU % is ps auxwwww etc.
Not withstanding the above, I agree it would be useful to allow the GUI wallet to be configurable with respect to the update interval for the balance/transactions etc. such intervals may be configured in some "Wallet >> Options >> Advanced" section of the GUI - to be created as an enhancement. For any swing wallet issues or feature requests, the github issues section is a good place to enter them.

It's no fun to have speculators buy on rumor and sell on news. There are a few different ways to approach that. Announcing things after they are complete is certainly one way of providing good information by news. Unfortunately some people automatically sell on news, whether there has been rumor or not.
Another way is to have a constant status or stream of updates so that there is not rumor, just steady progress. When a milestone (without a date tied to it) is hit, then the status is updated to reflect that. One status method that might work is to have a roadmap of things that are being worked on, and provide updates every 2-3 weeks on progress, perhaps using a trello board or something similar.
The advantage of having a steady and open update is that the community is able to help in a more coordinated fashion, and although some of the community help might be off message, probably 80% or so will be useful and helpful.

Anyone mining on Digihash? It shows I am still mining, but I have not gotten any payouts since 8/8/17. I used to get payouts every hour.

How to run the masternode?
In ZenCash they are called SecureNodes. Smaller payout, smaller reward, but still good ROI. Secure Nodes are in development still, expected launch in September/October. Tracking system is in alpha testing, you can see progress and join in testing on the Slack #securenodes channel. For a guide on how to set up the Zen Node and SSL cert, see here: https://blockoperations.com/build-zencash-secure-node-part-1-prepare-vps/Part 3 will show how to set up the tracking application on the server, but that is not until development is done.

My swing wallet is stuck @ 286,55 MB - 99,78% for more than 12 hours now. Any idea what I can do to get it unstuck? Thanks.
There was an upgrade to the system yesterday (Friday). Make sure you are using the updated version of the swing wallet with the ZENCash 2.0.9-4 binaries Swing wallet for Linux, Windows, and Mac with the updated binaries are available here: https://github.com/vaklinov/zencash-swing-wallet-ui

That was the first thing I did. I played around with adding other repositories and trying to get Qt5 going, searching forums and stuff for an hour. I'm trying to figure out what to mine with my GPU's instead of Ethereum and like to install the wallet first. If there are any instructions on how to do this anyone knows about that would be great to know. Sounds like it's something with the path or maybe permissions. Got it working. Had to compile from source. And had to get help to figure out I had to change permissions in the source with a Command line wallet running now. Thanks!

Trying to run the DBIX linux wallet on ubuntu desktop. I keep getting this error: ~/Documents/DbixWall-UbuntuGUIv1.0.1_49-2$ ./dbixwall ./dbixwall: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Network.so.5: version `Qt_5' not found (required by ./dbixwall) ./dbixwall: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Widgets.so.5: version `Qt_5' not found (required by ./dbixwall) ./dbixwall: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Gui.so.5: version `Qt_5' not found (required by ./dbixwall) ./dbixwall: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Qml.so.5: version `Qt_5' not found (required by ./dbixwall) ./dbixwall: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5: version `Qt_5.6' not found (required by ./dbixwall) ./dbixwall: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQt5Core.so.5: version `Qt_5' not found (required by ./dbixwall)
It looks like it needs Qt5 to run. Any recommendations on how to get QT5 so it's available to the wallet?

Second Official Desktop GUI Wallet Available for ZenCash
ZenCash users need GUI wallets to send private transactions and private messages using Shielded Transactions (also known as z_transactions). There is now an official ZenCash version of the Swing wallet for Linux, and Windows! .....
Great...! So if I'm on an older wallet, should I just download this one and fire up? No need to migrate any wallet file, or export/import of keys, right? That's correct. The swing wallet should find your wallet file and other stuff that is already installed if it is in the default location.

I sent my 42 zen to a wallets receiving address. Only after that I realized that the syncing was not done but showing nan. So did I lose them forever? I like to think I just need to set up a working wallet and use the receiving address and the funds will end up there. Is it so? Gah, tried multiple wallets and eleos either seems to work but does nothing or throws errors at me. I am running windows 7 64-bit, dunno maybe I'll try another pc somewhere. Stressful. Hey guys, could anyone confirm if I will be able to receive my zen using the address they were sent to from bittrex when I finally get eleos working on this or some other pc or are they lost for ever? This is reaally bugging me, tried to get many different versions to sync today with no luck. :/ There is now a second official ZenCash wallet - Swing Wallet from Vaklinkov. Will be doing a post and video on it soon. But give this one a try: https://github.com/vaklinov/zencash-swing-wallet-ui/blob/master/README.md
