I wanted to make sure it was reliable and would run consistently with no issues out of the box, and with a slight OC. My next steps are definitely pushing the card's limits in terms of OCing and undervolting. Was looking into BIOS mods/memory straps but that seems a bit involved for my tastes at this point.

I am running Claymore v9.7 beta, pool version

Recommend you look into bios modding as they can change memory timings to improve performance, messing with OC software is very limited.

If you can find someone with the exact same card as you and same memory, bios modding takes all the guess work out.

There seems to be a huge community on overclock.net where people have already done all the hard work, so I will keep on reading and find something I can use. Need to backup all my cards' BIOS first xD

Cheers Phil!

I am awaiting the arrival of my PSU, CPU, and risers to start building my first rig. My buddy and I are putting together a wood open air frame today!

Build:
6x Sapphire RX 470
EVGA Supernova G2 @ 1300W
Biostar TB85
Intel G1840
4GB RAM
120GB SSD

Started with 3 cards which just arrived yesterday. Going to get the other 3 very shortly. Can't wait to get started!

those server PSU are loud as hell.  Personally i do a EVGA 1300 and 6 RX cards and i run at no more than 1k watts

Damn.. well I am glad I am still researching then. I appreciate your input man. I am an experienced PC nerd with several enthusiast builds under my belt, so I was hoping a lot of that experience would translate. Zero experience with servers though, so good to know for sure.

One of my concerns with the ATX PSU's is the lack of enough full 8pin PCI-E outs. I see several mining sites selling these 6pin to 8pin power cable adapters. Wondering if those are safe to use as long as the PSU has the capacity?

That's fair and definitely understandable, I will stick with the nice newer powered risers then, fully connected.

Buying the rest of the parts for my first rig this week and just trying to hammer out the details concerning power. I think I want to do a dual PSU rig; HP server PSU for the risers and GPUs, then a smaller ~500w ATX PSU for the mobo/cpu/ssd/etc.

These boards seem to have 2x molex power supplementation specifically for the PCI-E slots

I am wondering if I need to power the risers even on these boards since the mobo is technically supplying the extra power needed?

@yun9999 This is amazing, you have a fantastical setup and it is extremely inspirational! I am getting the parts for my first rig this week and I am super excited to get going on it.
