if banks run a fullnode in a secured environment they are able to create bitcoin adresses. afterwards they can match those adresses with customer accounts and offer a new services to their customers.

* it is not necessary to create a bitcoin fullnode. they can also print out paper wallets and store the private keys on a safe.

Of course you are your own bank with your own bitcoin wallet, but as well as in the wild wild west exists already a lot of services who stores your Bitcoin for you (just google e.g. bitcoin bank).
This is definitly no advice. Since MtGox we know we can loose our Bitcoins if we store them on a central it service. So i suggest that you create a paper wallet and store the private key on a safe deposit box and/or other safe places. just be sure that you put private and public key not together.
