Thanks all. I do actually do LTC right now, for the reasons mentioned above. That, and I'm only doing 224Kh/s so it isn't like I'm going to make any serious money from this. I just wasn't sure if there was a reason to go with PPS over PPLS or vice-versa.

Note that I wasn't really asking for a _specific_ pool, but rather what _type_ of pool (based on payout scheme) based on the fact I wouldn't be mining 24/7, or with any high-powered equipment. It could be that it is a totally meaningless question, and pool payout scheme has no bearing on the fact that I'm not always in or not

As a newbie casual miner, what type of pool works out best (ie., PPS, PPLMNOP, whatever)?

"Casual" in this case means a single GPU only running a portion of the day - not 24/7. I know pools are sensitive to hopping. I don't intend to hop, but I assume that there is no way to distinguish between someone not going 24/7 and someone hopping. Just looking for the best way to optimize the meager mining I'd be able to do.

Based on the parent cudaminer thread, sounds like most of the issues are fixed. Will give it a spin tonight! I have another machine with a radeon 6850 in it, so not sure I really want to have two video cards burning the midnight oil but fun to tinker with none-the-less

I actually registered to post the exact same question. cudaminer claims my lowly gtx660 is getting 178kh/s (seems awful high), but none of that work seems to be going to the pool. I'm using a stratum proxy to connect to eu.wemineltc.com:3333. Despite the great numbers coming out of cudaminer, I don't think it is actually _doing_ anything. My GPU reports no activity via MSI Afterburner. Being a newbie, I'm sure I'm doing something wrong

Proxy started with:
mining_proxy.exe -o eu.wemineltc.com -p 3333 -oh localhost -sh localhost -nm

cudaminer started with:
cudaminer -o http://localhost:8332 -l S1x4 --user=myworkername --pass=myworkerpass

(The S1x4 parameter is what resulted after the autotune pass.)
