1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon 8 official specs released on: December 23, 2017, 06:55:49 AM
do you think that the recent drop in bitcoin prices will lead to Bitmain / Avalon to reassess their pricing strategy ?
2  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Where is suitable places to build mining farm??? on: August 03, 2017, 05:40:58 AM
to yield 1btc/day, you need 3,430 thz of processing power.  About 254 Antminer S9.

did you say you want 3btc a day?  than its about 762 Antminer S9.

it'll cost you about USD1300 (slightly higher to factor in GST, logistics etc) x 762 = USD990,600.  Say about USD1mn - round it up.

have you calculated your electricity yet ? you'd need to handle about 5,334AMP.  a lot of electricity.  probably need a 132kv sub-station nearby.  haven't discussed about the cabling yet....

talk about the heat...roughly about 200cfm per antminer.  make sure your exhaust fans are good for 51,000 cfm.

still need to talk about the size of the warehouse.....

wow !

by the way, i live in shah alam....
3  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Is it possible to be notified when a new batch of Antminers is released on: August 03, 2017, 05:31:47 AM
i know that browsers can be modified to scan web-pages for changes (ie update on Antminer for sale) periodically.  anyone knows how to do it ?
4  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PSU for Antminer S9 on: June 19, 2017, 02:20:06 AM
i was reading about PSU from Johnnyguru (http://www.jonnyguru.com/). so many things can go wrong for.  especially so if running a 24/7 farm.

thanks for the reminder to focus on quality.

anyone got any idea how long a decent server psu (delta/hp etc) can last ?
5  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Chinese mining hardware suppliers on Alibaba on: June 15, 2017, 08:17:23 AM
i'm also struggling through the list looking for PSU.....my choices seems to be;

1. Bitmain PSU - slightly underpowered ?

2. Alibaba list - unknown quality ?

3. Centrix - used server PSU + breakout boards => good quality but a little pricey.....

any other suggestions...
6  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PSU for Antminer S9 on: June 15, 2017, 08:03:30 AM
thank you Rabinovitch

i was looking to connect it to S9 but i guess the challenge would be looking for the break-out boards....for this particular model...thanks for responding anyhow.
7  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PSU for Antminer S9 on: June 14, 2017, 03:06:58 AM
or can i ask - apart from Bitmain - where do you source for your PSU from ?  Smiley
8  Bitcoin / Hardware / PSU for Antminer S9 on: June 12, 2017, 07:31:15 AM
i have been sourcing for PSU for S9.

i had bought 3 PSU Delta 2400w (with breakout board) from Paralellminer/Centrix.  Very high quality product however they cost about USD109 (exc courier) / USD140 each (including courier).  Grin very happy with these products except for the price.

http://www.parallelminer.com/product/2400watt-200v240v-power-supply-kit-for-2-antminer-r4-platinum-94-efficiency/

i had been browsing through Alibaba and they seem to have dedicated Antminer S7/S9 PSU.  Approximately USD88 each (exclude transport). One company in particular seems to have a PSU division for mining !   Roll Eyes

http://aplus-powersupply.com/products/bitcoin_powersupply

quotation for S9 PSU:

"S9 S7 Power supply (12V 140A 1680W)
High quality industrial grade electronic parts&components to promise 24 hours long time working

-100%New
-Effciency 93~94%
-Including 10 pcs 6pin PCIE connectors
-Six months warranty
EXW Price:$88/pc"

i wanted to see what is your opinion on using these PRC PSU suppliers.   Huh

the key attraction is of course the price but question marks about the quality.....any feedback....

thank you fanatic26.  that is a new lead which i will look into seriously.  will need to do some research and reading but thanks for that new direction....
10  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 - Unable to save URL of pool on: April 24, 2017, 08:03:00 AM
thank you again frodocooper.  your comments are much appreciated.

11  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 - Unable to save URL of pool on: April 24, 2017, 06:13:11 AM
thank you frodocooper.

i guess you can tell i'm a noob but thanks for your suggestion.  Smiley

i saw several different types of firmware updates.  any idea how do i identify which one is correct for my S7 ?

really appreciate your response and help.... Cheesy

12  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 - Unable to save URL of pool on: April 24, 2017, 05:53:24 AM
in my other 3 S7, i had typed in "stratum+tcp://stratum.f2pool.com:3333" and it worked fine.

in the S7 (which is not working), with or without "stratum+tcp://", it CANNOT Embarrassed be saved.  Quite frustrating.

The issue is that the 'Save&Apply' does NOT work.

Perhaps a software upgrade might solve the issue but i've heard of cases where it becomes a brick after that....so its a scary step to take....

Really appreciate your thoughts and input...but still looking for the right solution.
13  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S7 - Unable to save URL of pool on: April 24, 2017, 03:57:28 AM
thanks for the reminder.

yes, i had filled out the rest of the information; URL, Worker name and Password.

Somehow, it could NOT 'Save&Apply'.  i pressed it numerous times but just does not save.  Reverts to all blanks.....talking to a wall experience....
14  Bitcoin / Mining support / S7 - Unable to save URL of pool on: April 24, 2017, 03:18:05 AM
I've a few S7 antminer.  They used to work fine but one of them stopped working.

I went through the configuration and noticed that the URL address for the pool (i used: stratum+tcp://stratum.f2pool.com:3333) was blank.  Shocked

I inserted but could NOT 'Save and Apply'.  It just becomes blank again.  My previous typing goes blank...

I changed the PSU (providing 2.4kw - i know, overkill), but does not work. Shocked
I checked the fans, both are still working fine.  Undecided

This simple issue of 'save and apply' the URL just does not work....driving me bonkers.... hope anyone out there can assist....

15  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S7 - unable to "Save and Apply" pool details on: March 23, 2017, 10:28:48 PM
thank you fanatic26.  i shall try as you suggest to trace down the issue further.

noted notfuzzywarm.  yes, i'm new and will remember the "#" button next time....

appreciate this place for noobs and newbies to fix this antminer. thank you again.
16  Bitcoin / Mining support / Antminer S7 - unable to "Save and Apply" pool details on: March 23, 2017, 01:06:25 AM
Hi

I am operating a few second-hand Antminer 7.  One of them (lets call it Incorrigible) had worked fine for a few days. There were then some internet router issues (had to shut down and reset a few times) then Incorrigible did not work anymore.

==>>   Shocked

i have traced it down to that the details of the pool of Incorrigible had mysteriously disappeared.  I tried to insert back in the pool details (i'm using f2pool) but it refuses to be saved.  Anyone has any idea ?

 Sad<==

i've also included some kernel log details of Incorrigible but not sure if its useful.

really appreciate your feedback.

thank you so much.

thank you so much for your feedback.  will definitely stay away from Jopendi.  my simple google search indicates that they are advertising far and wide.  hopefully the other buyers will be wary too.

i just started reading a bit more deeply about bit coin mining rigs but definitely what your wisdom definitely exceeds my reading by a long mile.

thank you again.

Hi

my apologies, if i'm posting at the wrong place.  my first post !!

i'm looking to buy Antminer from (www.jopendi.com) and wanted to check if others might have bought from them before.  The website was set-up a few months ago and i wanted to make sure its legitimate.

I have offered to meet them in their office and purchase the items with cash, but they have turned me down.

Hope to hear from your experiences with Jopendi.

thank you Smiley
