1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Minereum - First Self Mining Smart Contract - TOKEN SERVICE NOW LIVE on: June 29, 2017, 08:55:54 PM
Minereums on sale right now!

Hey has anyone made contact with devs at all?  Are they active?   I've posted a few comments to them on here and twitter but no responses.  Obviously the big question is if there's future plans for a legit exchange ie bittrex in the near future!
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Crypto Announcements without Spam ? on: June 20, 2017, 02:35:01 AM
Heya guys,

Just curious if there's any websites for the latest or upcoming announcements regarding cryptocurrencies that isn't a cluttered forum with comments (ie the announcements page here) and not a dedicated news page ie coindesk where you're hearing the news a day after it's happened.

Something clean and easy to keep up to date with?

Cheers

Steem seems to be gaining some traction again on the exchanges!  :-)
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: is there any news for STEEM that led to the pump on: April 16, 2017, 10:40:24 AM
I'm wondering the same thing! :-)

Out of curiosity, what do use to get your price alerts?
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How is Crypto affected by Geopolitical uncertainty/events? Better or Worse ? on: April 15, 2017, 09:12:05 AM
anyone who thinks crypto is any type of safe haven needs to stop smoking whatever they're smoking.

it's a toy to make more money. if things really did turn truly to shit it's the first thing people would abandon.

this might be a question with a different answer in 20-30 years.

It's an interesting thought... I've been asking myself that question... would I withdraw my crypto in the situation of a dramatic world event?  I don't think my first instinct would be to.  Given the volatile nature of cryptocurrency, it's only a matter of time till it restores to it's original value regardless of how much drops and I see it as a growing sector with so much future potential

In the situation where we have a big world event (war, financial crash... etc) what are your thoughts on ...
Aren't we always just at a brink before collaps? Total nuclear destruction? The whole eighties had been in a mood like that.
The world out there just luuuvs fearmongering.

That should not infect your financial decisions. Well, you are free to play duck'n'cover hiding under the kitchen table with your laptop. But! Only place your wealthes where some updrift development happens. Oh, and avoid anything all to overly "official" that tries to attract you. Big institutions can be scammers, too.

Yeah I agree, there is far to much fearmongering in the world by the Media and politicians.  It's a joke how much they saturate events and cause panic for the general population. I'm not to fussed at this stage.  I see a lot of future potential in crypto and feel we're just at the beginning of a long amazing journey into a new tech realm.  I guess I started this thread to see what others feel.  Always good to have a dialogue with issues to get to the source of what people think/feel!  :-)
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think "iamnotback" really has the" Bitcoin killer"? on: April 15, 2017, 09:01:54 AM
Sell all crypto-currency to fiat IMMEDIATELY. BTC will dive -30%. Altcoins will decline even more. SegWit and scaling has been defeated on both Bitcoin and (at least near-term) also Litecoin. Also there are macroeconomics things going on which will also hit gold and every asset except USD. Store your money in USD or altcoin USDT (dollar peg) temporarily until this dip has concluded

I posted about this the other day.  Wondering what people's opinions are on the value of cryptocurrency during geopolitical issues (ie war, financial markets crash etc).  It is an interesting subject... it seems you're of the opinion crypto will crash heavily.  That is one possibility, but it also could potentially be unaffected due to the decentralized nature and perhaps even grow as people look for alternatives to store their money in times of crisis?  Just a thought... I'm a glass half full kind of guy :-)

Either way, it's a good topic for people to get involved with as an overall market drop would be a bummer for everyone!

7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How is Crypto affected by Geopolitical uncertainty/events? Better or Worse ? on: April 13, 2017, 10:23:51 AM
Heya,

In the situation where we have a big world event (war, financial crash... etc) what are your thoughts on where Cryptocurrency fits in?.  In stock trading, people move to safe havens such as commodities like Gold.  Not something I like to think about or wish on any of us, but I'm curious for a dialogue on whether you think people would opt to withdraw into Fiat or other safe havens or whether new investors would flood to Cryptocurrency?

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What does cryptocurrency mean to you? on: April 02, 2017, 02:35:14 PM
Cheers for the responses!

Yeah I think value was what really got me .... I understand supply and demand and as more people accept crypto it will in turn build desired value .... but I think their question was more related to it's physical / intrinsic value.  For example:  Fiat's value is based on commodities like gold and silver and coins were minted to represent this value ...
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What does cryptocurrency mean to you? on: April 02, 2017, 02:07:55 PM
Just had an interesting conversation with the parents tonight.

They're old school and not of the information technology era as are a lot of that generation.  I was telling them about my journey into cryptocurrency and the enjoyment of learning about and investing in something new and exciting.  As we were chatting, they asked me some pretty deep questions in their quest to understand this new medium more, which I had trouble giving a straight answer too.  I thought I'd post them here to see what others have in response to them:

- What is the value of cryptocurrency?  ( not what coins are worth but what is the physical value of it or what gives it value ?)

- What are the overall ethics of cryptocurrency?  ( Good or Bad , is it a bunch of people just trying to make money with little respect to society and laws or is it genuine innovation with positive intent ?)

- Where/How will cryptocurrency fit into the structure of the world going forward ?

All pretty deep questions and not something that the average crypto investor is generally thinking about when there is gains to be had....

Food for thought :-)
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official BitBay Thread |Smart Contracts Wallet UPDATE|Decentralized Marketplace on: April 01, 2017, 10:13:40 PM
Heya,

I've been building interest in Bitbay.  Sounds like a promising project!  Out of curiosity, does BitBay have a lot of competition for the direction it's trying to head in?  Ie, are there other crypto-based, decentralized marketplaces similiar being released?

Trying to understand the uniqueness of the project, what competition it has and what kind of growth it could expect over the coming year or more

Thanks, have a good day

Iconomi the first digital asset management platform in crypto. Currently on beta with many satisfied testers.

Is Iconomi similar to Poloniex ?  What exactly is Digital Assets Management?
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Long Term / Bag Holder Altcoins ?? on: March 22, 2017, 12:10:05 PM
.....
Yup that is true. But what you are saying about whales and manipulators is about altcoins being traded. What he is asking is about if there is an altcoin that can be hold for long term that will increase its value overtime. So in short the altcoin he is looking for is not meant for trading but for investing.
pump and dumps kill the altcoins in long term. when price goes up, people join in and then they get dumped on and are forced to sell at a loss, the next time price rises fewer join in and price goes less up. the next time less and less until the coin disappears or it takes a year to see another pump and then disappears.

...
Surely it has to be more than that?
i wish i could tell you otherwise.

Otherwise, wtf are we all doing lol ...
we are making money! isn't it obvious... lol
why do you think there are so many pump and dumps, so many ICOs, Pre-mines and so many different methods of manipulation. because simply everyone is looking to make more money and guarantee they can do that.

For me personally, I see a future in Fintech and cryptocurrency and all this innovation that's happening, hence the investing.  Fair enough the whales can dictate prices but reasoning behind the investing has to be in the mind of every person doing it .... otherwise we're just wildly throwing money at coins yeah?!
once, there were innovations. there were enthusiasm and the developers knew what open source and inventing something meant. they weren't doing it to make money.

these days (so called) developers are looking at community to see what kind of "bling" the community is looking for. so they add it to attract more people.
and worst of all they are looking to make money from creating a new altcoin. so they care less and less about real world application and care more about that "bling".

not saying there are no innovations, there surely are many but they all go unnoticed. i am not going to name any names but these coins always go on with low price and die. maybe some day someone picks up the idea and makes an awesome coin out of it but not today.

You must be bag holding a few coins with hope?  Or you just dump money in and out of pump/dumps on a daily basis?
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Long Term / Bag Holder Altcoins ?? on: March 22, 2017, 11:43:12 AM

none of these matter.
the only thing matters is how many whales and manipulators that altcoin has. if it has lots of rich whales (Ethereum for example) you an be sure of the pump and a big profit.
and if the pumpers and whales don't pay attention to a coin, no matter how much innovation it has, it will never go up.

Heya,

Looking for legit opinions on long term, bag holder altcoins going forward from March 2017 ?  Not interested in short term temporary pump/hype coins please.

Looking for:

- Good tech
- Inovative & Useful Features
- Strong future prospects
- Solid team
- Regular social media presence
- Higher marketcap (or potential marketcap)
- anything else?

Not too worried about it's current price now, just the potential it will have over the coming years.  However, cheaper altcoins or upcoming ICO's with potential are also highly considered/desirable!

Cheers for your input, let the banter begin  Smiley
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt coins worth buying on: March 21, 2017, 12:52:08 AM
Based on my study, it would be better to have ETC, XMR, NXT, VSL, ICN and SNGLS in your portfolio for now. You can flip them after 4 to 6 months or hold on to 2 years time frame and see for yourself. The future is for the next killer Dapp and I think  VSL, ICN and SNGLS has potential. ETC, XMR and NXT has some more room to appreciate in value.

Why not the ETH. I heard ETC is a hack coin.

You heard? Look at how etc started and then make your decision.

etc was never started. its the original ethereum blockchain.

eth is a rewound blockchain that was forked

That's what i mean by being started. i just i should have just said how ETC started its existence

Why would anyone want to buy ETC?  Wasn't the whole reason there was a fork was that a bunch was stolen?  Why would you want a coin that has been compromised like that?

18  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex - Convert Bitcoin to cash and hold online? on: March 07, 2017, 12:05:44 PM
Heya,

Cheers for the responses.  Just to confirm, is there any issues transferring to USDT, holding for a while and then back into your chosen coin at any time?

I've been looking around on Polo and maybe someone can point me in the right direction of how I transfer my coins into USDT and then back out into coins?  Can't see it in front of my face :-/

PS.  I had a friend tell me had some issues with USDT and lost money somehow.  Just want to make sure I'm using it correctly and there's no chance of losing funds, or any chance of USDT not being a 100% lock to the US $ ....

Cheers

20  Economy / Exchanges / Poloniex - Convert Bitcoin to cash and hold online? on: March 04, 2017, 06:45:52 AM
Hi there,

Apologies if I haven't posted in the right forum.

I'm curious if anyone here has experience with Poloniex and knows whether it's possible to convert Cryptocurrency to Fiat and keep it online in that platform without having to transfer it back to my regular bank account or crypto wallet?

Is this possible?

I'd like a way to sell out of crypto and back into Fiat in that online platform and then have the quick ability to buy back into crypto as the markets fluctuate.

Any help is much appreciated

Cheers
