Forgot to post this here when I wrote it. Some old fogies like me might remember the tune that goes with it -- "Cover of The Rolling Stone":
We buy all kinds of pills that give us all kind of thrills But the thrill we've always missed Is the thrill that'll getcha when you get your picture On the cover of The Economist
(Economist...) Wanna see my picture on the cover (Mist...) Usin Bitcoin to buy five copies for my mother...(Yes) (Mist...) Wanna see my virtual' face On the cover of the Economist...(That's a very very good idea)!

You need this at the top of your config: [BLOCKCHAIN] blockchain_source = bitcoin-rpc Ty. I skimmed right over that. I was just looking at the highlighted part after that. (In the wiki) -C

Does the bitoind rpc option work with an encrypted wallet?
Yes. You don't even need to unlock it. I suspect it would also work with '-disablewallet', since JoinMarket keeps its coins in its own HD wallet. Okay, I am not getting this message Running / Checking it works $ python wallet-tool.py wallet.json First time using a new wallet requires several addresses to be imported. JoinMarket will then exit with the following message:
[2015/03/31 21:58:24] importing 80 addresses into account joinmarket-wallet-2734ec now restart bitcoind with -rescan
I just get this: D:\joinmarket>python wallet-tool.py wallet.json Enter wallet decryption passphrase: [2015/11/01 19:40:08] downloading wallet history [2015/11/01 19:40:37] blockr sync_unspent took 10.743999958sec mixing depth 0 m/0/0/ receive addresses m/0/0/0/ m/0/0/0/000 12mrjH24YqZ8XbkeSAhx2fNWktWJnLdt37 new 0.00000000 btc m/0/0/0/001 16NuuPVLQSMYKHghdzUPyP9hoJoBGXS6mz new 0.00000000 btc m/0/0/0/002 15ADNaJS8FAbSnZCLMWNhFUkTkqoPQsmcw new 0.00000000 btc m/0/0/0/003 1Gr9ScMHDCypHtm6s4cefJV5X86ZYp6JPY new 0.00000000 btc m/0/0/0/004 1Gondqtjtnr6qnM1B95sTzB8e2bZVCScro new 0.00000000 btc m/0/0/0/005 1Q6WmdbtzUL8WUSfEoQZMajvpqzLEcTLPk new 0.00000000 btc change addresses m/0/0/1/ for mixdepth=0 balance=0.00000000btc mixing depth 1 m/0/1/ receive addresses m/0/1/0/ m/0/1/0/000 1JrVNYKsWQQiJzHC22uTtLWmCCvpUep1yB new 0.00000000 btc m/0/1/0/001 173ZLvNQ9esS7Ddkfo3NtHKGQjTETZzw8P new 0.00000000 btc m/0/1/0/002 15o5Ak3kWcwy28A7NpJtcqJPzJmaibSKaY new 0.00000000 btc m/0/1/0/003 1JGEtau4FUeih8MfVJYG87mA5PJWezEf6Y new 0.00000000 btc m/0/1/0/004 17LyAfi1u6i5XqrFziooWbZeKfaKW4WCy9 new 0.00000000 btc m/0/1/0/005 1JBwG8mzSKyfxFz2iTKzTyzH8NzL9wWsir new 0.00000000 btc change addresses m/0/1/1/ for mixdepth=1 balance=0.00000000btc mixing depth 2 m/0/2/ receive addresses m/0/2/0/ m/0/2/0/000 1Q7bSxYrfGBUEbqsbhnvUiYu4o4ZGShxSm new 0.00000000 btc m/0/2/0/001 1DjDQtxRZwRQVKvu5MfTuvoMD6dgYFqBky new 0.00000000 btc m/0/2/0/002 1FUJF3RiBKKxq8AhNXukpJj2YMqWBazuz4 new 0.00000000 btc m/0/2/0/003 1JEDRBJDeKEA37cUVX1rdv5WAo8DG2PXoX new 0.00000000 btc m/0/2/0/004 1MVQpC7ETqEXakopPF7otkpEfk26UskS2e new 0.00000000 btc m/0/2/0/005 15ybA3aCJwh585nYZCoCQz9ASgPCJ6W3pk new 0.00000000 btc change addresses m/0/2/1/ for mixdepth=2 balance=0.00000000btc mixing depth 3 m/0/3/ receive addresses m/0/3/0/ m/0/3/0/000 13zGDXvLA7sSZHB5JksaMtbJHBWeyUQ6Qa new 0.00000000 btc m/0/3/0/001 16Gc9TtTDJaY3Y2Mdw6UBjeVkDnNQBfWPc new 0.00000000 btc m/0/3/0/002 1Ggm6LHv64aKmA6qoG58uxFCY4jnXWetEt new 0.00000000 btc m/0/3/0/003 14C3uXaYReii7Fi4qMw4QfQ7iZRDUzEenZ new 0.00000000 btc m/0/3/0/004 1JgSrLXZhDHWH8J4ZeqTdxrGWcVkHyVCdi new 0.00000000 btc m/0/3/0/005 1KrhmczooTNSwai2c75fTFn5nZo9ioLJgv new 0.00000000 btc change addresses m/0/3/1/ for mixdepth=3 balance=0.00000000btc mixing depth 4 m/0/4/ receive addresses m/0/4/0/ m/0/4/0/000 15fKxHNATF2pBNAqZJHvEQjMxctrfWJuKD new 0.00000000 btc m/0/4/0/001 1KBNnotK5EZdRZrbyPeR1xsYFYvvs9Uu1k new 0.00000000 btc m/0/4/0/002 1BpKQb7PB84WmG2U9esyvpLam38SfmU52t new 0.00000000 btc m/0/4/0/003 17xNQyQicwTMKHK8e3E65vy2uUhDnxRZyW new 0.00000000 btc m/0/4/0/004 1DbKHu96ZkjRL4cNfMYuD8m5tgoQy1zSMd new 0.00000000 btc m/0/4/0/005 1KwZYTuTzLoS6n6Z6Uxymfnvm5GpaErmZs new 0.00000000 btc change addresses m/0/4/1/ for mixdepth=4 balance=0.00000000btc total balance = 0.00000000btc My bitcoin.conf server=1 rpcuser=user rpcpassword=password

I try not to hold more than 2% of my net worth in Bitcoin. If it performs the way folks predict, that's more than enough to be life changing for any investment, if not, it won't hurt.
If you have a negative net worth, I would not allocate more than 5% of money going toward your investments.

I just heard on CNBC from a Greek official that bank transfers under 15,000 Euros are still allowed as long as the transaction is inside Greece.

And those stuck with Drachma cant buy bitcoin since noone will sell BTC for a useless currency....
The Drachma will be having some value, as Greece exports billions of USD worth of agricultural produce, medicines and metals every year. But the initial exchange rates will be highly unstable, and it will be a very tough task for the Greek central bank to stabilize the exchange rates (that is, if they have the resources to do so). Greece has a big trade deficit: http://www.tradingeconomics.com/greece/balance-of-trade

FWIW, Bitfinix, located in Italy is now leading in volume. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fscontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net%2Fhphotos-xpt1%2Ft31.0-8%2F11709683_10205508369881164_6841745170214066355_o.jpg&t=663&c=7S2mA17dbbUjAA)

That is a significant number. I didn't realize there were so many people from Indonesia working abroad. Is this unusual for a country? It seems like more than an average country would have working abroad. I think you are right and perhaps this is the reason for bitcoin's recent popularity in Indonesia. considering the population plus the fact that indonesia is a third world country, it is not really that surprising for our people to search for an outside jobs for more income. the average monthly wages in Indonesia is very low. now I don't know about the whole country, but on my city 70% of the jobs only pays $200-$300 a month (the minimum pay is about $160, in case anyone wondering). Yeah, plus Indonesia has the 4th largest population of any country in the world. The 4.5m is only about 2% of the population. Just FYI. http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_population

It is actually bad for bitcoin as it takes away the decentralized part away from bitcoin. And it is hard to trust them as they might sell for fiat for their further investments.
But what is the difference from big time services like coinbase, circle, and sites like that? Now I know they do not loan money but I am not seeing what the issue is. Nothing. These guys don't know the difference between the words "bank" and "central bank". -C.

This is not news at all. People have been paying with bitcoin using personal electronics for years. Just another apple fanboy promotion? So apple has a digital watch - who cares? ![Undecided](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/undecided.gif) I DO!!! Anything that promotes digital payments promotes Bitcoin. -C.

What people forget is that Bitcoin was only at $30 at the start of 2013. Do the math on that.
Oddly enough, at $270, that is a 600% gain. Coincidence or a sign? -C. Update: I just realized this would be an 800% gain. 240/30 = 8.

Why not? They are stable now, this year pretty stable
all markets have downtrends. gold didn't reach its 1980s high until 25 years later. if gold can lose 50% of its value and have a multi-year downtrend, why can't bitcoin? Well bitcoin can aswell but bitcoin went from 1200 to 200 in a year thats a 600% not 50% Who taught you math? 1200 to 200 is a loss of 1000 or an 83% loss. Even if you do the math from a 1000/200 ratio, that's 500% not 600%. -C.

Decentralization and stability of price in a short period of time is impossible due the very fundamentals of a free unregulated market such as Bitcoin's. The only way Bitcoin can reach stability is when there is so many people using it that a whale dumping tons of coin would be like pissing on a sea of pee. When Bitcoin reaches mainstream usage it will naturally stop being so volatile. I don't believe in alternatives to Bitcoin, everything that's needed Bitcoin has it. I personalty believe Bitcoin stabilizes in price when it equalizes the things traded with it. If that never happens, then it never will. When a unit of labor perfectly trades for a pound of chicken or a gallon of gas, with no supply or demand imbalances caused by the currency itself, then that currency will be perfect. That's probably an untenable goal, but whatever comes closest will win. That's probably what Hayek was after. A larger pool of Bitcoin may help that happen, may not. -C

I see though, that after I close my short, I am going to go long on a 2017 Call for 600. I see 600 as a possibility within the next 2 years. I actually see 1200 as a possibility in 2 years.
I absolutely agree that options are the way to go here. But I would wait for a new all time high over $480 before shorting. Good luck, -C.

After the recent earnings report and reaction, shorting Netflix with March 360 puts is an insane idea.
The stock doesn't trade on PE it trades on subscriber numbers, and the company just announced it will grow their subs internationally and remain profitable doing it. The market loved that.
Nothing in that analysis is likely to change before the March 20 put expiration recommended in the op.
