1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 0.9.0 FINAL is available [Changelog] [Download] on: March 27, 2014, 11:10:12 PM
I totally love Bitcoin Core 0.9.0 it's just so awesome!!! Smiley
Especially I really like Coin Control as that's what I've been wishing for a while.

Congrats to all devs and everyone who helped developing it. And I can't wait what next version will bring!
2  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: why did bitcoin choose secp256k1 over secp256r1? on: February 28, 2014, 07:15:03 AM
based on this site http://safecurves.cr.yp.to/ secp256r1 (P-256) is not safe, but neither is secp256k1. Of course, it's debatable how trustable this claim is.

Curve25519 is said to be safe and there's also some other new ones assumed to be safe.
3  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Ponzi.io - Fast, Guaranteed 120% Payouts on: February 19, 2014, 11:04:39 AM
Address represents an empty public key, which is impossible

https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/445

Ah, so then seems this was very buggy implementation. All other addresses participated so owner most likely played himself and earned that way. Only shame that it didn't followed order and skipped transactions which again might have been a bug.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [announce] Namecoin - a distributed naming system based on Bitcoin on: February 18, 2014, 12:03:55 PM
I've known Namecoin for long time, but never really much followed it, so I'm wondering:

  • who currently are official Namecoin developers?
  • which are official domains/sites managed by project?
  • which repositories are official?

I think it used to be http://dot-bit.org/ but now seems it's http://namecoin.info/ ? Also are http://github.com/namecoin/ official repositories?

It would be nice if it all would be written in single place as it's quite easy for someone to impersonate and distribute infected binaries/code.
5  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: stop mining at ghash.io you FUCKTARDS on: February 16, 2014, 12:07:32 PM

I really don't like it...

6  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanity Pool - vanity address generator pool on: February 14, 2014, 02:21:11 PM
Is there any other vanity pools? (I couldn't find any other) Or this is only one? If there are multiple ones, which one would be most profitable? ie. with most rewards and easiest addresses.
7  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Ponzi.io - Fast, Guaranteed 120% Payouts on: February 13, 2014, 04:06:13 PM
why not keep the 50 BTC that were in his balance at some point near the end?
doesn't make sense to give back everything except 4 btc
(unless it's a conspiracy against me, since i was skipped: https://blockchain.info/address/1CGGk4939Axq2M1EqrZ7B9TnpskSHLNcvu and people who came after with similar amounts were paid)

lol dude, read my post with spreadsheet where you can see that this was scam as there's loads of skipped transactions (payout was random). It's OVER. All done. What's lost is lost.
8  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Ponzi.io - Fast, Guaranteed 120% Payouts on: February 13, 2014, 03:16:56 PM
No offense, but you thought otherwise before checking all this data?
I thought it was game, it could go on until there's no more people paying...
9  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Ponzi.io - Fast, Guaranteed 120% Payouts on: February 13, 2014, 02:46:10 PM
I hacked up quick script, got all transactions for this ponzi (addresses 1ponziUjuCVdB167ZmTWH48AURW1vE64q, 14ji9KmegNHhTchf4ftkt3J1ywmijGjd6M) and created spreadsheet with data about all participants.

You can view spreadsheet here from Google Drive and also in MS Excel format

In total there were 1023 participants from who 547 won some BTC, 6 got back what they sent and 510 lost what they sent.
Biggest amount sent from single entity (1CR27qMW8ok7xitLUuM2gCau3PJpACRdPM) was 16.4 BTC and got back only 12.48 BTC Cheesy
Biggest absolute profit was 2.24 BTC (38% more than sent) for 1LE9MmczTAuStbHUvB4YwnVnGb3makL8aB
And biggest relative profit was for 1DLidBuq9ac7xeYtBW7vLF1kE3o6p7SGTZ who sent 0.003 BTC and got net profit 0.5698 BTC (that's 18993%)
Biggest loss was for 18eNdoK2BThisidjkGSQX6hrHH1JSrwcKk who lost 6.88 BTC

There's more interesting data so check it out Wink

Overall seems this was scam from first day as it didn't payed out in order and skipped some transactions no matter what amount was big or small. Also even for those who received, some got more than they should and others less. That's not how Ponzi works.

Ponzi.io owner 1HT7xU2Ngenf7D4yocz2SAcnNLW7rK8d4E sent himself only 0.0237 BTC, so he probably played it himself under some other addresses.

It's such a shame that it was scam, rather than being actual Ponzi scheme, it really could grow quite big with such good name, but I guess it was more important for owner to get some quick coins. I doubt that all next ponzi's will be any successful because of this scam. Proper Ponzi (where owner is honest) should only end when there's no more new people and pay in order.
10  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Ponzi.io - Fast, Guaranteed 120% Payouts on: February 06, 2014, 10:44:55 PM
Well, but there's definitely some kind of bug.

Take a look at this address https://blockchain.info/address/1gMXFWhr2QcKq9bdrL34CZw5jAeumWf9n

Guy sent 0.06 BTC to Ponzi at 2014-02-05 07:30:06
Then at 2014-02-05 21:03:14 he got received 0.0718 BTC (fee 0.0002) all is good (0.06 * 1.20 = 0,072)
but why at 2014-02-06 22:00:02 and 2014-02-06 22:19:58 he received 0.02306 BTC and 0.0719 BTC

those both 14ji9KmegNHhTchf4ftkt3J1ywmijGjd6M and 1ponziUjuCVdB167ZmTWH48AURW1vE64q are ponzi addresses

These transactions:

https://blockchain.info/tx/d3ec0ba57f5e4419b2481bc8df32ea8b9c7b2f4501f63febcc37696efe3dbcdb
https://blockchain.info/tx/6475fa1aed09cbce828a2a41d82e66e57fa2705b1f3308ded6b30129886bb923
https://blockchain.info/tx/2c82ced313755a95fbb84ae2cbc9772e01f8a52ae1b1e5ff2adf63a3117bba5f

So seems it overpays, thus delays queue and others will get later if they'll receive enough at all.

11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: That's kinda stupid... on: January 07, 2014, 03:26:48 PM
How can you lurk for more than half a year without ever learning how the newbie restrictions work? Maybe you should lurk harder next time.
What you mean? I never visited Newbies section as never had need and I did read "NEWBIE README" before I started this thread, why you think I don't know how it works? It's exact reason why I'm posting here now Cheesy
12  Other / Beginners & Help / That's kinda stupid... on: January 06, 2014, 10:03:43 PM
I've always really disliked all forums (and other sites) where you're forced to make some first useless posts. That is I can't post where I wanted even if my account is more than a half year old. I just never had any need to post anything. When I'll be allowed to post I'll probably have forgotten what I wanted to say and thus I won't bother with that. I think better approach is just captcha solving required for posting if you're new member or something.
