1  Other / Beginners & Help / I have mined a fraction of a bitcoin??? on: April 10, 2013, 11:52:29 AM
Hi,

I'm a noob to mining and to the forum, but not to bitcoin in general.

Last weekend I started to play around with cgminer and p2pool and created my own pool that I started to mine against. Since I was the only participant with my crappy video card (40 MH/s) I gave up the solo mining.

Nevertheless to my surprise I have discovered on Monday, that I have mined 0.00251030 BTC in my walled 1AtFqqFjG33LFw4uCcRN4uJe8AoG2dxtnN that p2pool has created.

How is that possible? I thought when mining you can only mine complete blocks which would get you 25BTC plus the fees. How come I mined a fractional BTC?

regards,

Meiney
