Hi, I was going to upgrade my wallet (it's 2.1.3) to the new one but the website with the instructions is 404.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Iridium - People are Power - PoW - No Premine - Community Built on: January 22, 2018, 04:40:50 PM
Please give simple and vivid instructions as to how to go about the installation of the hardfork wallet.
Not all of us are as technically inclined as the likes of you  Smiley

#####################################################

The new gui wallet ready for the hard fork is here.

https://github.com/iridiumdev/iridium-wallet/releases/latest

Hard fork is scheduled on Friday 26th of January 2018 at block 69500.
After this block, current wallet will not work anymore. Upgrade now !

Installation for non technically inclined as the likes of me  Wink

  • 1) download the wallet application corresponding to your system

  • 2) Install your newly fresh downloaded release :

    • MacOs : Double-clic on the Iridium_Wallet.MacOs.2.1.3.dmg, copy the Iridium_Wallet.2.1.3 to your application folder.
    • Linux : Decompress the Iridium_Wallet.Linux.2.1.3.tar.bz2 file.
    • Windows : Decompress the Iridium Wallet 2.1.3 Windows  installer.zip, run the installer, read instructions.

  • 3) Launch your new wallet :
    • MacOs : Double-clic on Iridium_Wallet.2.1.3
    • Linux :  Double clic on the Iridium_Wallet-x86_64.AppImage
    • Windows : Double clic on the Iridium Wallet shortcut.
If you receive any error related to Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package, install the MS Visual C++ runtime,  the installer is in the Iridium installation folder : C:\Program Files (x86)\Iridium Wallet\vcredist_x64.exe

You can verify that you are running the expected version in "About Iridium menu", you should read Iridium Version 2.1.3-"something". That's it.

PS : https://irdpool.fr is now running the hard fork ready core.

#####################################################

I still have one of the first wallet from the original dev, iridium wallet 2.0.
How should i proceed to upgrade the wallet?

Now gpu is much more expensive. Can we use a specific algo which is only fit to CPU mining?  Everyone can use his cpu for mining.

Hi, yes gpu is expensive, but you can mine UTC with low end gpus, like a gt 1030, no need for the 1070's or Vega, any lower end can end up doing just fine.
Nvidia seems to do better than AMD.

Do I need to download the blockchain entirely?  Undecided

I really would like to use the wallet without this need.

I would try an online wallet like Cryptopia. Unfortunately they are not signing in new users at this moment.

Yes, you need, there's a download on this topic to speed up things.
Using cryptopia as a wallet can work, but it would be better to have it on your computer, since staking don't work on cryptopia.

That one would be me, sorry but the end of the year didn't go as planned.
I'm interested to set up a pool, just postponed it so I could have time if something went wrong on the first days.

Hi Bluesman75

I am sorry but Alenevaa has vanished.  I cannot find him anywhere despite many efforts to contact him.  Its very strange.  I fear for his safety to be honest.

Yes there were people interested to set up a new pool and I told them to go for it.

As yet we have no new pool.

In the future this will not be a problem - but for now it is an annoyance.

WE have enough solo miners and stakers to carry us through.

Cheers - usukan

Well I will need to get used to it and test it, so it might some time
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Ultracoin] [Est. Feb 2014] ~ ASIC Resistant & Ultrafast 6 Second Transactions! on: November 23, 2017, 12:28:46 PM
I was thinking about start making a test pool for some time and learn how to use it and fix it so I could make one for UTC, in my opinion this could help us.
But at the same time I wonder if that isn't going to affect Aleneeva in a bad way and I wasn't sure if that was fair, since he done so much for the community.
One thing that I thought was to set a fee at the same as utc.yacoinclub or even a little higher, 3%, that could be better since it would provide a some competition(Aleneeva pool would have a lower fee and someone with experience on running a utc pool, but a busy person, and the other pool would have higher fee but have one or more people that have more time to fix it, but maybe lower experience or even being beginners on running a pool), but still I'm not sure that is fair either.

And what are you meaning?

Alenevaa has always fixed the pool as soon as he can. This is not the first time that he is gone for long time. He likes to travel and he can do so. If you don't like... mine something else and buy UTC.
Idon't like that the pool is not working. In the pool I have + 20 000 UTC.

I am now solo mining and supporting block chain in that way. Getting some UTC but not so much than on the pool.

UTC should be thanking Alenevaa, without him UTC would be gone for a long time a ago.

"Traveling on the pool miners income"... Hah with those UTC you will not get so far.

Time has pass and we should soon think plan to get other pool.

Usukan? Maybe we need to set up pool before next big step?

Valpe

edit - I just hope that Aleneeva is alright and doing well.

Hi QXW

This coin is not somehow alive. This coin is alive, thanks to community,  pool owner Alenevaa and Usukan.

Could be better if pool could run without problems. Alenevaa will fix pool as soon as he can.
If you wanna or someone else want to set up pool, you are welcome.

I don't except any explanations from Alenevaa. He is doing great job.

If you don't trust these "big words", what are you doing here? There is plenty of coin to choose and mine.

Hmmmm ... Fixing ASAP for a month..? Or traveling on the pool miners income?

Hello asta.

This is the pool: http://utc14.yacoin.club/index.php - there's also some help with setting up miners. I'm using GTX1060 GPU and these are my settings: ccminer-x64.exe --algo=scrypt-jane:14 -L 4 -l auto -o stratum+tcp://utc.yacoin.club:3413 -u worker -p password

You can download newest ccminer from here: https://github.com/tpruvot/ccminer/releases I'm currently using ccminer-x64-2.2.2-cuda9 on Windows 10 64 bit but if you mine using AMD GPUs I cannot help you.
And yes wallet takes a lot of time to sync, be patient Smiley

Thanks primouno for the help. So I can start mining even the wallet haven't fully sync up right. Can I mine with xmr-stack miner for AMD gpu and Nvidia gpu or it's just limited to ccminer?

As Valpe said, all miners with scrypt-jane (chacha) should work.
For Amds gpus there is sgminer, yacminer and a version of cgminer 3.7.2 patched to scrypt jane, you will need to test which one works best for you.
For now Nvidia gpus seems to do better in jane.
I believe tha xmr-stack doesn't support jane, so you can't mine UTC with it.

Edit.: AMD:
Cgminer: https://github.com/nicehash/cgminer-3.7.2-scrypt-jane
Sgminer(scrypt jane should be implemented on it): https://github.com/genesismining/sgminer-gm
Yacminer: https://github.com/Thirtybird/YACMiner

In case nobody noticed

The USD market cap of Ultracoin has doubled in the last month.

UTC has been one of the few Alts to hold against BTC rises of recent

so the USD value of your UTC holdings has doubled...........

CAP 400k to 800k - but we have a long way to go

Did anyone try to mine with nVidia P106-100 cards? They just get stuck at this, and won't submit any shares.

Gpu load is at 100%, but pool doesn't recognize they are working.

Hi Air Jordan, could you please describe what miner you are using and the config file? i don't mine with nvidia but maybe that helps anyone thats going to help you

You will hold BOTH coins after the split.  New coin in same amount as each address you control at time of split.

This will make the price sadly will fall down. :/

Do you have a confirmation that we will be able to trade a new coin immediately after the fork?

longyenthanh, i'm just a user, but since cryptopia already have UTC, problably they can trade the new UTC shortly after the  fork, but thats on them, maybe they say they need a new listing and payment to put the new UTC on the exchange.

About price, well if there is a little dump of the old UTC then price will go down, but remember that if all succedess new UTC price will go up and you will have the same number of coins on the new one, so your profit might go up too, again just speculation, we as holders and miners need to wait and see what usukan will bring to UTC.

Hi Qxw

Don't worry - all your concerns are covered.

You will hold BOTH coins after the split.  New coin in same amount as each address you control at time of split.

I think Alenevaa is travelling at present - but I am sure he will fix pool and distribute earnings.  I have total trust in him.
I must point out that there is no "official" Ultracoin pool.  Alenevaa just does this job of providing pool for the love.
We all owe him a lot and we will be making him a donation soon in appreciation for holding the coin together.

We are preparing to start releasing information but for now please be patient. It may be a month or two before we release any detailed info.

This is being coordinated across teams in Europe and Asia and all are very busy on the core technology and whitepaper at present.

We have your best interests at heart so we won't be doing any scams - you can rely on that.

As I said before - everyone can chose to hold/support the legacy Ultracoin OR the new Ultracoin - or BOTH.
Of course the legacy coin will need miners and a dev support team to survive and I will not be part of that.  My focus will be 100% on the new Ultracoin and supporting the new technology that powers it.

But relax for now - any split is still probably mid 2018 (possibly earlier).  There is a lot to organise with such activity including extensive testing and exchanges. New website etc etc.
There are three parts to this job - developing the new core technology that will power the new Ultracoin - then 2nd part integrating Ultracoin within the platform and new wallets etc - 3rd part updating and rebuilding all the infrastructure around the coin like exchanges, websites and social media etc.  When you see just what we are doing you will appreciate the complexity.  This is blazing new tech from scratch from some very talented devs.

You can see how I get myself in trouble by trying to give some little info to keep people informed but then I get the questions that lead me to disclose more of the story before we are ready.

I need to be quiet for a while.

Cheers - usukan

Good luck usukan, i will be eagerly waiting for news.
Take your time.

Will new fork also bring algorythm change?

Oh yes!  Its quite a lot more than just an algo change.

Cheers - usukan

For peoples who example hold UTC's.
How about UTC's what people own before fork.
After fork what he have?  UTCa and UTCb ?

How about our only official pool what keep miners coins and not even tell any estimate about withdraw/transfer.

If this "new coin" is split from UTC block chain, do people after split,  or what ever this is,  have both coins?

I think it is quite fair to give these kind of informations for avoid many kind of speculations.

Common, not directed to Usukan who do overall nice job for UTC.
-------------
--> @Alenevaa or who ever is pool administrator

Before this coming split, fork or what ever it is, please pay out miners profits. Or do you think you keep all over possible fork...

Where is pool official admin Alenevaa? Still full total silence and  only some third person words he is there somewhere doing something or not.

Is it impossible to write any word you are even live. Why earnings can not pay out to owners. Why?
You have wallet where you have mined coins, you have minerssharecounts and addresses  where to send. How this simple thing can not do. Do not explain that because this is computer system and software things and IT jargon. It can do if want do. It is not even difficult if all is "in home" between ears.

Still not any single public word from Alenevaa. He is also member of UTC team.  He do not have any people in reserve who can do things if example accident or sic or other force majeur situation. If so - "well done".
Even our office cleaning people have debuty person and he do not hold customers properties.

Who think this rise UTC reputation to better. You can improve "coin" but improving reputation (trust) is much more important than what ever other thing.  If this is difficult to understand I will come after three years asking do you now know what I mean. Look many altcoins. All goes and crash to this trap.
UTC must not be like most others.
Time ago this coin have value.

Sorry my poorpoor google-english and hope it do not lead to wrong image of the message's tone or meaning.
I am UTC holder also and want all good for UTC. This is also why I am bit worry now.

Usukan will publish the information when the time is right, probably those questions will be answered in the announcement, but since he talked about being able to keep both, it's likely that with the fork people will have both old UTC and new UTC.

Aleneeva can sometimes take a while to answer but he always fix the pool.
About coins not being paid, well it can happen, for me it's better to postpone a payment than have a wrong payment.
Still i do believe that would be good to the pool to be fixed and to Alenneva to answer, but i trust his work, maybe he's attending to something on his personal life.

This coin is so cheap its not worth mining, just buy it up...lots of cheap coins to be had Smiley

I tend to agree with you on that one

Cheers - usukan

Not really, you can make a good profit on it with the right cards.

The quantum leap is nearly upon us.

Any ETA? 6 months?

Hi Valpe, since you mine with nvidia gpus can you answer me something if you know?

What is the hashrate and power draw of a 1070?
and does all pascal gpus hashrate/power draw number scales in a linear manner in utc? e.g. a 30w gpu has 5kh/s and a 300w gpu has 50khs/s

Hi Coinmagnet

Welcome

Download latest ccminer from https://github.com/tpruvot/ccminer/releases . Try both 64 and 32 version.

ccminer-x64.exe --algo=scrypt-jane:14 -L 4 -l auto -o stratum+tcp://utc14.yacoin.club:3413 -u worker -p password

Try different L values

Happy mining

Valpe

Thanks for the help.

I've got a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 ASUS STRIX RGB 8GB. So If anyone has configuration tips for that, let me know, thanks!

Please just be patient my fellow Ultracoiners.

Behind the scenes a total revamp of Ultracoin is being planned and engineered across Devs in Europe and Asia.

We will likely propose at some time in the future to hardfork Ultracoin to a completely new platform.

As I have mentioned before - its radical and its more advanced than everything else around including Ethereum and the other blockchain coins.

All the issues we have at present will vapourise in the mist. But expect some new challenges in the new world!

For now - be patient and sync from scratch - it may take 4-7 days.

Masternodes, sharding, light wallets, Casper, Bitcoin NT etc etc etc will be old tech.

In a tiny corner of the Crypto planet - something big and rather unexpected is happening. You just might have been in the right place at the right time with Ultracoin.

Work is ongoing and we will make an announcement just ASAP - but be patient please.

If you choose not to take the risk - I can't help you.

Yes it seems unbelievable - but make your own choices based on your risk tolerance.

There are no guarantees - but this looks like the big one to me.

Cheers - usukan

That sounds great!
Like i said last time, gloves are ready!
can't wait for the announcement.

it has been 4 days and the wallet is still syncing up! Any idea why it is this slow?

Coin is old, alot of blocks to download, maybe trying to connect to more nodes could help you sync.

Another "fix" could be the use of a bootstrap, there is a old one that already helps on the first page and another one that gawlea uploaded to mega:

Usukan could you please upload some recent blockchain files? (maybe on google drive) i found a blockchain on cryptochainer but it's from 11.03.2016 and it's taking ages to sync  Cry

I can upload a Blockchain Bootstrap from today, but it will take a while to zip it and upload it to mega. It have 1.13 GB (zipped) in size. Will return in here with the link. Cheers!

Thanks for helping out rpbarreto

You're welcome Cheesy

Good work with Ultracoin Usukan!

I do agree with Psy, I just dont think that "failure" is the right word, dev is just having his problems.

What we could use in our favor is to spread that even when the first( or main) dev is away, for now because of a tragedy, the coin is still moving foward because  we are building it as a community, just like it says in the topic.

With that we could make our community grow a little more before going into the market, together with improvements of the white paper, website and new wallets for mac and mobile can make this coin stay up even if there is some dumping when we hit the exchanges.

Nvidia 1030 is quite good for mining UTC.

  4.9-5.2 kH/s, 28w

Thats nice!

Valpe, one question, the max i could get on my 480 is 4.8kH/s, above that just HWs, but i can get 6.1kH/s if i open 2 miners on it lol (each miner stays on 2.8k to 3.4k but always kinda getting 6.1 total) and no HW, can it be a miner issue?
i'm using cgminer 3.7.2
going to try using sgminer later to see if there is better results
