1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Thoughts on monero's anonymity? on: October 23, 2018, 02:43:47 PM
What's the deal here? Do you want to be anonymous when using cryptos? As we know, bitcoin has an open and searchable blockchain, where you can trace anything. That's why some like to use mixers. Coins like Monero are popular because of ONE thing, anonymity. No one knows where goes what or how much. I've seen lately in illegal drug markets that monero is becoming increasingly popular due to its anonymity. I haven't seen monero been used much for anything outside the illegal drug market.
Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Do we want to enforce anonymity among cryptos or defend it?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / [ANN] Nicemon: An app for monitoring Nicehash statistics on: February 28, 2018, 12:26:39 AM
Nicemon is the first app I've ever made, I tried to make it clean and easy to use. It simply uses the Nicehash public API and formats the data for easy accessibility on your phone. The first version was just released, and I am working on further updates at this moment.

Features
  • View your daily profitability
  • View past and current earnings in a nice graph
  • View recent payments
  • Keep track of your workers and their efficiency

Download
Nicemon is currently avaliable on the Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.celsiuss.nicemon

I am looking for feedback, thank you
3  Local / Skandinavisk / Re: Cash out - Alternativer til Coinbase? on: February 09, 2018, 09:52:57 AM
Hej,

https://www.trustpilot.com/review/coinbase.com

Nå ... rant over.

httpshit://SHITTYLINK.help/

I wouldn't trust this AT ALL...

EDIT: a guy with one GPU, already attacked by scammers.
The link he posted is actually a good resource for beginners. Just because the TLD is "help"? The website does not ask you to download anything from their servers. The resource is safe and good quality.

sign up, and hash away. check out gpumining subreddit

https://www.nicehash.com/

Stay far away from nicehash.

Its what lazy people use because they dont want to maximize profits. Plus its been hacked recently and every customer lost money with them.
Uhh, NiceHash actually gives some of the bets profits as of today, though mining directly is always a tad more profitable, Nicehash is right behind. Sure they got hacked, and even with their sketchy repayment program, I still use them. I dont trust them with my bitcoins, so I withdraw to coinbase (NO FEE!) as often as I can.
6  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price is recovering! on: February 08, 2018, 01:21:11 PM
But for how long? It might drop even further tomorrow.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Who knows why every crypto is falling? on: January 16, 2018, 09:43:20 AM
I'm freaking panicking. But I know that it has happened before and it will happen again. It should be okay with the market stabilizing again sooner or later.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU noise (not fan) when mining x17 w/ Nemosminer (Windows) on: January 14, 2018, 02:02:44 AM
Are you sure it's not from your fans? The only thing that can make noise is fans, and a spinning hard drive (electrical noise is a thing, but it is very low and you shouldn't notice it). Maybe it's the CPU fan?
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How important is the internet connection on: January 14, 2018, 01:58:42 AM
Internet connection is not too important. Just make sure you get a decent wifi dongle because cheap ones tend to be unstable and lose connection every now and then. I've used wifi for a while and it works perfectly.
10  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: blockchain.info wallet large transaction sizes on: January 05, 2018, 06:20:39 PM
This has nothing to do with the wallet you're using. Any wallet you use with your current address will show the exact same sizes of transaction, since this is based on the data used in the transaction, that is, the inputs and outputs of your transaction. There's a formula you can search for (I don't have it off my head), but in general, the more inputs and outputs you have, the larger the size of transaction (with inputs being the main contributor).

The median size of 226 bytes is what you have if you use only 1 input with 1 output (non-Segwit).
Sure, but in the blockchain.info wallet I wanted to send to just one address, from my wallet. For some reason it does 4 inputs and 2 outputs? I'm just curious of why it does that.

The inputs are from how many transaction in an address you are using, I will give you an example.

Your address recieves 4x .1btc so you have .4btc balance. You decided to send .35btc to whichever address, then there will be 4 inputs (4x .1btc) and 2 outputs, one to the address where you want to send coins and the 2nd is your address (the change will be sent back to your address
Oh I get how it works now, thank you. A bit inconvenient because of the ridiculous fees there are today.
11  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Does a college degree still matter in the digital age? on: January 05, 2018, 09:36:59 AM
If they want someone with a bachelor for a cashier job, they are damn stupid. They want someone very overqualified? The manager obviously doesn't know anything about hiring. You don't use a bachelor for a cashier job, even worse, they specify ANY bachelor. What in the living hell? It's like the manager doesn't know how the world works.

College degrees are and will always be important, in the digital age you can learn a lot from the internet, but attending at college and showing the HR your degree for a real company (not talking about cashier jobs here) will get you a much better chance of being hired with a much larger wage than someone without a degree.

13  Economy / Web Wallets / blockchain.info wallet large transaction sizes on: January 05, 2018, 09:25:05 AM
Now with the insanely large fees, I've just noticed that the size of a transaction done by the blockchain.info wallet is very large. Yesterday I sent 0.01 BTC to someone, the transaction had 4 input addresses and 2 output addresses, when I just wanted to send some bitcoin to one address.
The size was 667 bytes, and acording to bitcoinfees.21.co the median size is 226 bytes. Which means blockchain.info's transaction size is 3x as much as the median, which means 3x as much fee.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is changing the world. on: November 02, 2017, 12:12:32 PM
I'm sorry to be the pessimist here, but what has bitcoin done to change the ENTIRE WORLD? In my eyes, bitcoin hasn't done much. So far the only thing I've seen bitcoin change is a few lucky people's wealth. But you would have to invest some. Bitcoin hasn't changed the way we're doing business yet. I believe bitcoin will change the world in a positive way, but I hasn't done anything significant yet.
15  Economy / Economics / Re: What is a good amount of BTC to Buy? on: November 02, 2017, 08:21:27 AM
Depends on how much you'll be able to invest. Don't invest because you need money right now. Only invest if you are able to live without the money you're investing. Also don't expect much return within a week. You would want to wait a few months or years. That's how investing works, you won't earn anything in a week. It takes patience.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's your strategy for the upcoming fork in mid November? on: November 01, 2017, 04:15:36 PM
If im going to do anything, it would be to buy before the fork. I might just earn some free quick cash. Whatever happens with the new forked coin, I still believe bitcoin will stay strong and will always climb. The new coin however, I would sell as quick as possible as I think it might fall in price quick. This is just my speculation and I may be very wrong.

18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can be hacked? on: October 30, 2017, 11:05:36 PM
No, it isn't.
Of course it can, but not by brute forcing to get a private key with funds. The weakest point in any security system is the person using it. By clever social engineering you might hank out the password of an innocent user of an online wallet. Or maybe you got a hidden trojan on your PC that turned out to be a RAT and it has now your unencrypted bitcoin wallet. That's why you should ALWAYS be careful no matter what, always use two factor authentication and always encrypt your password. And never store your backup phrase in a document on your PC, that phrase should be on a physical paper hidden in your drawer.
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does Bitcoin work for online shopping? on: October 30, 2017, 08:15:43 AM
I haven't used bitcoin on Ebay or Amazon, but I tried it on Steam. I bought myself a game and then later tried to issue a refund. When Steam asked me how I wanted to recieve the refund, I only had one option. Normally I would get the money back to my Visa card, but I got it in my Steam wallet. It stated on the website that refunds to Bitcoin wallets would come soon, but knowing Valve I doubt that's on their priority list.
