1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Selling options before Expiry on Deribit on: November 20, 2020, 03:16:08 PM
Hi gmaxwell, many thanks for your response, very helpful indeed. Would you mind explaining how the buyer takes a risk due to index price integrity. Does this mean the price which your profits are determined can be different to the price at the time.

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Selling options before Expiry on Deribit on: November 20, 2020, 11:11:09 AM
Hi, I bought a few hundred ETH call options recently on Deribit with an expiry on 25 December 20. I've noticed that very in-the-money positions appear to be not very liquid and there doesn't even seem to be a market for some of them. Suppose I want to close out of my position before expiry, is there an easy way of doing it or is the only option the exchange. For example, suppose I bought 100 call options with a strike of 400 when the price was 350. If the expiry is 25 December, they're currently worth about $5k based on a price today of 500. Is it possible to sell this or do I have to wait for expiry? What are the options and do I have to accept a much lower price. Thanks in advance.

In terms of constructive criticism you should explain the concept of Mbitbooks as it is currently very unclear how it will operate. I've bought some Mbit so I'm not just posting unhelpful comments. I do think you have failed to answer posts by various people on how it will operate. Replying with something like "it will be like Amazon" is not clear at all. From a business perspective you should have released a white paper and included details of who is behind the project. this sort of info doesn't cost much money but will give the project way more credibility and attract investment. It's a win win so it concerns me why this hasn't been done already. By whitepaper I'm not talking about a 30 page dissertation, just something that conveys the point of this project. This is very basic stuff so it concerns me that you haven't taken the initiative and done this already. The reason i've bought some mbit at this stage is purely due to the very remote possibility this takes off either as a bubble or because it holds merit.

Thanks for clarifying

How is the supply of mbits being controlled? After all, I have invested in this as I hope the price will increase and I will make a return on my investment. Is there point in investing now or should I wait until all the coins are in circulation before any price increase is achieved.

I've been going off coinmarketcap:

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/mbitbooks/

According to this source, the market supply is 38,200 and the market cap is 1 BTC. So is the market cap then 37btc's??

Is the release of new coins to circulation formulaic? It seems any increase in price will be eroded by increasing circulating supply. It seems a bit unfair to those who got in early.

Can someone explain to me how the volume in the last 24 hours can be 10btc and yet the market cap is till hovering around 1BTC? The only way I can see this happening is if someone is buying and selling their own coins to generate volume with the hope of attracting investment? It is also possible that the supply and demand are increasing at exactly the same rate but this seems too unlikely given the volume.

If you look at the market history on cryptopia you will see that 130,000 mbits was bought today. I thought the circulating supply was 38,200 mbits.

Please provide some clarity around this. A clear coherent response, not two words that inspire no confidence.
