1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How much money do you invest in alt coins? on: May 08, 2017, 03:34:32 PM
I've invested a little less than $500 and all of my coins are worth about $1200 right now. ETH, XRP, and LTC. I also have a two different ICO investments which haven't hit exchanges yet. Hey, I invested $100 in ripple last week and now it's worth $500 lol

I ended up exchanging my ETC holdings for LTC. Thanks everyone!

I just checked the price of ETC and it shot up to $3.27 on 03/17/17 and it has hovered around there for the last 5 days. Do you guys think it's just a pump and dump? Would it be wise to sell my ETC now? I could exchange my $100 worth of ETC for either ripple or litecoin.

Thanks!

I put $1000 in. Now I have over $100,000. I vowed to never invest any more and i don't want to cash out as i'm in Australia and the commission fees are 5% (that has taken over 3 years).

Not to say that this is how he earned his money, but had he invested in the Ethereum ICO when it was first launched, he would have received two thousand ETH for one BTC. One BTC was worth, on average at the time, six hundred ish dollars. Two thousand ETH is now worth slightly less than $100,000.

Thanks for looking out for me! I've read both of the articles linked. I read the Terms and Conditions top to bottom before contributing, occasionally cringing. I contributed 2 ETH to the project two days ago, just to see if it goes anywhere, but I've come to terms with the fact it may be a scam. I guess this will teach me a lesson about ICO's if it fails. I bought ETH earlier, so it only cost me about $50 for the contribution. I guess we'll see how it plays out   Undecided

is there any info how much have they made so far? How much is their goal?

They've made about $5,000,000 so far between the ETH and BTC raised (116,844 ETH and 296 BTC) and who knows what their goal is. They have another ICO (this is their "phase 1") at the end of May.

Hey! I'm definitely no expert, but I've taken a slight interest in XRP recently as well. You can get a wallet on GateHub (free and relatively easy to use), but it takes a while for the verification process to go through. XRP did shoot up to .07 cents per, ripple but it's (presumably) because of something that is called a "pump and dump". Someone (or a group of someones) will buy a LARGE amount of the currency, causing this price to spike up. Other people will panic at the sudden price rise and buy a large amount of coins as well. The original buyer will "pump" the price up and then "dump" all of his coins once the price is highly inflated. He sells all of his coins at this high price, causing a flood of the currency back into the market, which makes the price drop back down significantly. He makes a large profit and a lot of people bought the currency in the small window of time in which the price was highly inflated. It's best to wait it out and see. The price of XRP got as low as .029 today and is hovering at around .033 now. These prices are not what you would like, but they're better than they were. To be honest, I think that ripple is going to take off pretty soon, so I'm going to grab some before the price really does increase significantly.

There are other ICOs in April, to me, there are better opportunities, I will consider investing in humaniq and matchpool. Maybe Aeternity is a good one, but I can't invest in every ICO.

I researched Humaniq quite a bit and was pretty convinced until I read their whitepaper. One of the first things they say is that HMQ is NOT designed to be an investment or security and that they believe HMQ may actually decrease in value. They also have no plans to trade it on any exchanges in the near future. I think it's a wonderful idea, but I don't see much potential money in it. I was thinking of donating $50 or something, just to have a stake in the project.

Any thoughts on the Aeternity ICO? It launches April 3rd and it's one ETH for 1,100 AE. It seems like an interesting project. Anyone think it'll take off?

Aeternity's first ICO begins on April 3rd and I'm interested in throwing a couple of Ether their way in exchange for AE tokens. 1 ETH will get me 1100 AE, meaning each AE is .045 cents. Is it worth investing in the initial ICO, or should I just wait until the coins hit the market? Thanks!
