1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Let’s form a new coin and drop sum masternodes [no-ICO][no-premine] on: April 20, 2017, 03:48:04 AM
Hey guys,

thank you for all the support, that shows me there is really demand .

Cheers  Cool

There is definitely a lot of support for new altcoins/tokens that have something new to bring to the market. Tell me, what is it that makes your coin/token different from other coins/tokens? Distribution method isn't enough to make up for not having a purpose or a use for the coin. Huh
2  Other / Meta / Re: USERNAME: CYBERMODS Stolen Account DO NOT TRUST. on: April 20, 2017, 03:39:05 AM
My real account cybermods has been hacked and is trying to scam people please be aware.

Im in the process of trying to recover the account so please dont trust a word that comes out of this POS mouth

Thanks

If they actually hacked your account, you should probably let the admins know. I'll see if I can tell some other people to be critical of that account until we get this figured out. Not trying to be an admin here, but that is a serious claim.
3  Other / Off-topic / Re: Smartphones are vital to bitcoin growth on: April 12, 2017, 03:53:38 AM
More and more people are using smartphones thanks to budget friendly mid-rangers, almost anyone can now afford to buy a smartphone.

Mobile payment is becoming more common and it is an opportunity to acquaint people more into using bitcoin . Mobile payment will eventually replace credit cards or at least will make them less mainstream. An example  of this is Apple Pay. Bitcoin smartphone wallet  apps are to use when you have a transaction, you just scan a qr code and the transaction is done though will take some time to be confirmed.

Bien dit. Well said. Apple Pay is the mainstream trying to adopt the crypto fever in a controlled fashion. The best possible result would be for as many people to accept cryptocurrency as possible to initiate it into the real world.
4  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Im looking to mine a bit would a raspberry pi rig give a decent amount of money. on: April 12, 2017, 02:11:29 AM
So I was thinking about mining bitcoin as just a fun thing to do. And the cheapest way for me to do that would be to use a raspberry pi and USB miners. I was thinking if I got at least 3 USB miners it would supply a decent amount of money. I'm asking would it be a good mining rig?

Odds are youre probably not going to make a fortune overnight with a raspberry pi. it would provide a good experience with new hardware, but expect less than a penny per month in revenue, profit is practically impossible at this point. Calculating it almost comes out to zero cents per month. Bottom line: PROFIT IS NOT POSSIBLE
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's Be Honest. We Are Waiting for $100/BTC to buy on: April 12, 2017, 01:47:10 AM
I think at this time, it's very impossible for that to happen. Right now, the lowest price that bitcoin has drop is $1000 based on its chart. If I were you, buy bitcoin now because its value will be double or tripled sooner.
I couldnt aggree more. The vlue of Bitcoin will surely only go up! that said, the best time to jump aboard the Bitcoin boat is now. too much has been invested into this industry for the price to go down anytime soon.
6  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Next-Gen on-chain scaling idea -- Masterblocks on: April 12, 2017, 01:39:21 AM
Like.

BUT. Could be easier. Don't need a Master Block.

1) Throw away EVERYTHING except the Block-header for blocks older than 1 day / (..or the longest re-org imaginable ). The block header is the ONLY bit you really need - as it has the POW. Also it links back to the previous block header, so we have our 'Proof Chain' back to the Genesis block. (Which would be tiny). But still packed with ridiculous levels of POW-er..

2) You need to store the deterministic UTXO root hash somewhere in the block header. Changes for every block obviously. But everyone would agree on  it.

3) That's it.

As with your design we lose the TXN history - but we keep the POW chain that led us to the present day UTXO.

So.. doing the Maths.. it would be about :

576GB (as you calculated for 1 billion txn a day)+ UTXO database size (orders of magnitude smaller than 0.576TB) + the proof chain size (tiny).. forever.

Whether there would be any point to keeping the TXN history - is debatable..

Your blockchain size would be incredibly smaller because the entire "4GB" block wouldnt even be completely used.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why I invest in Dash? on: April 12, 2017, 01:29:21 AM

Why I invest in Dash?

Ethereum is great. It's a programmable block chain with lots of level 2 projects, Raiden, Augur, StorJ, etc... I hold some Ethereum, but Dash is my biggest position nowadays.

I feel that Dash is much simpler to use and more focused to be Money.

1. Instant transactions (InstantSend). About 2 seconds in Dash vs 17 sec in Ethereum is very important for retail brick-n-mortar shops. Compared to 10 min in Bitcoin on it's best-day.
2. Dash Masternode Voting - governance mechanism, similar to shareholder voting in traditional corporations.
3. Incentivized Masternodes. - even if our block chain will grow huge, it's incentivized to buy new hardware to keep up with demand.
4. Dash network can pay it's own expenses. Dash developers are getting paid in Dash right out of the block chain, and even sponsor an advertisement campaign from it's block chain rewards. Bitcoin and Ethereum never had anything like it. Put it simply, the economic model of Dash is superior. For example we will vote with our Masternodes for Charlie Shrem's Dash Mastercard, and he will get paid by the Dash network for his start-up business. https://www.dashcentral.org/p/DASHPAYCARD-DEBIT-CARD
5. Dash is a drop-in replacement for Bitcoin, while Ethereum has a learning curve. It means that it's easier to adopt for merchants, that already accepts Bitcoin. Dash wallets are simpler to use.
6. I think Ethereum could become the Linux of crypto-currencies. Scalable, programmable, powerful and open, but hard to use. Especially if you want some advanced features. Very few people can take advantage of the Linux system, as compared to Windows. Same here: very few people will have the technical skills to take advantage of Ethereum's programmability, while Dash stays much simpler for day-to-day use.
7. Monero transactions are huge, about 40x bigger than Dash or Bitcoin. It will not scale in my opinion.
8. Biggest reason by far: Bitcoin is dysfunctional. My transactions take between 3 hours up to 26 hours to confirm, when a year ago I used to confirm in 10 minutes . Bitcoin used to provide me a service, but now it provides me a dis-service. I have sold most of my Bitcoins for Dash.

-"Technologov"

Dash is an instamined scam, well marketed by car saleman types, who's main goal is to sell fairy dust to greater fools.  I would not touch it.

How is Dash a scam? It is a working model of a better implementation of Bitcoin. The value it has was established by people who saw the revolutionary potential of the new model. The ONLY issue I see with Dash is the high possibility of a fork due to block time.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Segwit for LTC really necessary? Why? on: April 12, 2017, 01:15:12 AM
It's probably better if Segwit is activated. The amount of people using Litecoin is going down all the time. Will soon remain as another dumped altcoin. Sad
9  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: handheld BTC address generator and offline cold storage wallet, Final Proposal on: April 12, 2017, 01:05:15 AM
This is my web page that discusses this innovative device and its uses and implications. I am currently trying to gather together a team of developers and coders to start this project, As far as I know, I am the creator of said device and have used it wonderfully with all my Crypto currency transactions to date. . . The proposal website is here. . http://coldcrypto.weebly.com/

I had a look at your page and all I can say is it doesn't look very promising. The device would be corrupt after a few uses and would have no way to transmit the private key to any other medium.
10  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Large Bitcoin Collider (Collision Finders Pool) on: April 11, 2017, 11:48:37 PM
This is actually really cool. I'm going to start running the VMWare iso and see what I can find. Cheers man!   Smiley
11  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: WTF is this? Someone found a trick for fast mining? (part II) on: April 11, 2017, 03:29:06 AM
This comes from the thread:

WTF is this? Someone found a trick for fast mining?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1045381.0

That old thread from May 2015 was locked by moderation (why?)

In that thread it was observed statistical anomalies that to my understanding were signs of use of a faster mining algorithm.

The blocks in question were mined by Antpool.

I think, in view of recent events, it would be good to comment. I am curious to know if gmaxwell has changed his views.

It is worth quoting my post #75:

Quote
I withdrew any claim. So, stop repeating the same thing over and over. Already Mr gmaxwell rated me as a scammer (at the same level as other people having stolen bitcoins to others) and has tried to bullshit my expertise, which I think at this point says more about him than about me.

But I do believe and I will repeat that some unusual patterns do deserve attention, in particular when the numbers show that these events are extremely rare.

Without being paranoic it is conceivable that some people found a boost on the mining performance (it wouldn't be the first time this happens), and they try to hide it for their own interest.

I fully agree that this possibility has to be treated with caution, but it cannot be ignored and we should be on the look up. If this appears to be the case at the end, some people in this forum will have collaborated concealing this fact. They will bear that responsibility.

On my side I would restrict my comments to statistical facts.
How on earth does that work? What method could possibly increase mining probability? As far as I know, the only method I have ever seen was mining when the network hash rate goes down....
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Launched: PiCoin [POS+POW] [SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN=AIRDROP] on: April 10, 2017, 02:49:20 PM

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DMD Mature Coins & Minting on: April 10, 2017, 12:47:10 PM
This is the wrong subforum,
for what coin DMD Diamond coin?
7days per image on their announce page.
once 7 days passes its complex as to how many coins you have and how long you leave you wallet open as to how quickly you get a stake on your inputs. and once they stake its 7 days + 180 blocks until they are eligible to stake again.

questions should go here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=580725.0

For some staking coins out there, the waiting time is over a week.

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Launched: PiCoin [POS+POW] [SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN=AIRDROP] on: April 06, 2017, 02:37:42 AM
This is really cool! Can anyone explain how to set up the picoin solo miner? I start my qt-exe for the picoin wallet. I set my batch to be
minerd.exe -a scrypt -t 1 --url=127.0.0.1:6949
but it keeps saying it isn't responding?
anything would help, thanks.
